Having nothing but troubles with the new 5.0 version of
ZoneAlarm Pro. Considering other alternatives. Anyone
had experience with Tiny Personal Firewall and care to
share your thoughts?
Thanks!

I don't have any opinions on Tiny. I am using an older version of Kerio
Personal Firewall (version 2.1.5), which used to belong to Tiny until the
authors parted company, and set up Kerio. Very nice, but possibly getting a
bit old...

Thanks. Since my initial post, I have downloaded,
updated and am trying on a 28-day free trial Tiny
Personal Firewall v. 5.5. So far, I'm well pleased.

If you are having problems with the newest version why not use the newest
but one? Version 4.5.594 was as stable as any software I've used and was
extremely effective.

John,
I agree. That is the version I was running before I
updated to v. 50_590_015. Reversion didn't correct the
problems that
I was having. Since then, I have read a post giving
instructions for making a clean installation of
ZoneAlarm. No attempt now, though, because I am trying
Tiny Personal Firewall on a 28-day free trial basis.
When the trial period expires, I will have 10 months left
on my subscription to ZoneAlarm Pro, and I
plan to try one more time to get a good installation of
version 45_594_000. If successful, I will make a decision
about the direction to take next May. So far, Tiny
Personal Firewall is highly impressive, and it might be
my
program of choice to replace ZoneAlarm whenever that time
evolves.
