I keep getting this error on my DC (W2k3 Server) with the following...
The session setup from computer '17951' failed because the security database
does not contain a trust account '17951$' referenced by the specified
computer.

For user action is says to disjoin this account from the domain. That's
fine, but I can't find the computer in AD. Is there a way to remove this
ghost account? Can I use Netdom or ADSI edit?

You need to disjoin the machine from the domain at the machine.
It believes it is joined. In your case there is not even a computer
object any longer. In other case the object still exists but needs
to be reset as the password has become out of sync.

The problem is, that machine is no longer named "17951". It doesn't exist.

Some machine is alive with the name and causing the
event log messages which record a client machine
initiated authentication attempt failure.

I'm sure you are right. It will take some time but I will hunt the culprit
down, and disjoin from Domain. Thanks for your help.
