I have posted this twice with one response, I will
try again.

When trying to access my bank, I get the following error:
>HTTP Error 403
>403.5 Forbidden: SSL 128 required

>This error message indicates that the resource you are
>trying to access is secured with a 128-bit version of
>Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). In order to view this
>resource, you need a browser that supports this level of
>SSL.

>Please confirm that your browser supports 128-bit SSL
>security. If it does, then contact the Web server's
>administrator and report the problem.

Also, I can no longer access my webmail any more and my
credit card company web site states that I have an
incompatable browser that I need IE5.5 or above with 128
bit.

I am using MSIE 6, Win2k pro sp4, Norton Internet Sec. v
2004.

Help anyone???

Hi,

can you start up IE and go to Help > About Internet Explorer. Check what
Cipher Strength states? Is it 128-bit or something else?

In article <2da3301c46a75$5962edb0$a501280a@phx.gbl>,

Once is more than enough. Your original thread is still available. Nothing
got "buried". A simple search, even on the web interface, will find it.
Perhaps you should consider using MSOE, instead of your browser, to access
these groups. I am assuming that you are "Paul", who originally posted an
article with this subject on July 8, 2004; this article:

Your "Newsreader" tells me that you are using your browser on the Microsoft
site. That is a real clunker to navigate; you have no real idea how many
threads their are unless you use the page buttons to scan backwards. Most
people only see what they want to see, though, and don't understand the
depth of these groups.

This is almost identical to your original post, and does not factor in the
question that I asked. As a consequence, somebody else, not knowing that
this problem was already under discussion, asked the exact same question in:

Message-ID: <OB#HeYnaEHA.4092@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl> (...which is, "can you
start up IE and go to Help > About Internet Explorer. Check what
Cipher Strength states? Is it 128-bit or something else?")

...as I asked in:

Message-ID: <MPG.1b57be22c695899698a175@msnews.microsoft.com> (...which is,
"Are you using MSIE? What is the 'cipher strength' reported in Help >
About?").

You have just wasted Miha Pihler's time. Had you explained, in your latest
post, what you told me in response to my question in:

Message-ID: <2991101c4660a$75845750$a601280a@phx.gbl> (...which is, "Sorry,
I am using IE ver. 6.0.2800.1106IS, cipher strength
128-bit."), then nobody would have bothered asking the same question a
second time.

Now, did you even find my response in:

Message-ID: <MPG.1b5d23fe2fc1c58998a1a0@msnews.microsoft.com> (...which is,
"Hmmm. Maybe it is something on the "Advanced" tab of the Internet Options.
Mine has both "Use SSL 2.0", and "Use SSL 3.0" checked. Down in the Security
section. How about certificates? Are there any needed for that site which
you may not have installed?"

I know that I am throwing some stuff at you that you don't know how to find;
and the Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 won't reveal all of those "Message-
ID:" numbers I am citing; but anybody with a rational news reader will be
able to locate the cited articles with just a click of the mouse. Assuming
that their reader doesn't have a short purge time.

Now, looking at your MSIE version number, 6.0.2800.1106IS, what do the
letters 'IS' signify? Most people will only see something like I see in my
browser: Version: 6.0.2800.1106. No 'IS'. That might be of some
significance.

Let me see, now...I have covered the configuration of the SSL options, the
availability of certificates, even a question about a version ID
distinction. It is time for you to consider what you have been told; either
try some new things, then report back results, or, at least, explain further
what you have, what your circumstances are. Just asking the same question
three times in two threads isn't going to get you much help.

P.S. If you wish to access these groups in MS Outlook Express, try this:
Tools > Accounts > Add > News. This will bring up an "Internet Connection
Wizard". Follow the steps.

Because I will guide you to the MSFT NNTP servers, when it asks for your
email address, please use <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com>. That way
you will not be pestered with viral messages and spam at a real email
account. Substitute your given name for "anonymous", if you wish; leave the
rest as it is.

When it asks for the NNTP server, use: <msnews.microsoft.com>. Do not check
the "My server requires me to log on" box, because these servers do not
require a log on.

When you click the "Finish" button, you will be asked if you want to search
for groups; tell it yes. When MSOE displays the list of groups, type,
"microsoft.public.security" in the group window, and click on subscribe. The
group will be added to your folders list, below the lowest email account in
the list, and you will see a list of subscribed groups. When you click on
the subscribed group, MSOE will download the 300 most recent articles. Use
Tools > Get Nest 300 Headers until you can find your original article from
July 8, 2004. When you highlight an article, use File > Properties, and you
will see those Message-IDs, and some other neat things, like the "X-
Mailers".
