Shenan,
Thanks for the reply. I had actually considered all of the things you
suggested, but those were good ideas.
I searched for the web in a variety of ways. I tried the exact file
name and I also searched for information on files with the .dna
extension. Nothing I found was all that useful.
I haven't recently installed a cable modem....its been several months
since I did that. I did notice some stuff that made me think the file
might be associated with Comcast.
I scanned the file with a bunch of online virus scanners. Plus
kaspersky nor Microsoft Defender didn't raise any flags.
Before posting anything about the file, I had tried to read the file
contents in a text editor. Unfortunately the file didn't contain
printable characters. One thing I thought that I had done differently
on the day the file was created was remote desktop into my PC from an
mac laptop. I had also transferred some files between the Mac and PC
using Samba. Thinking this might have created the file, I moved the
file to my recycle bin and then did the remote desktop and file
transfer thing again. However, this didn't recreate the file.
One guy I work with thought it might be something to do with .Net. He
thought .dna was a proprietary Microsoft file and stood for Dot Net
Architecture. Maybe he's right. Thoughts???
Thanks again!
