I have an MN-100 microsoft 4 port router and i am unable
to recieve direct connection file transfers ex. through
icq. If someone knows how to enable these can you please

Basically, in english [I'll try], your router translates
the IP addresses of the computers on your local network to
one master address which is used to represent all those
computers on the internet. Your ICQ, however, needs a
direct conncetion to an IP address to do that file
transfer, so the router is interrupting that task by
representing your computer on the internet. You can place
the whole computer in the DMZ [see page 59], but I
STRONGLY recommend if you do that that you run a real good
firewall like say Zonealarm [free for home use]. Or, you
can ask ICQ support what ports need to be opened thru the
router to make file transfers work, and open those ports
for your computer in the router. I'm not sure your router
is even capable of that, and it's a daunting task unless
you're a network profesional.
