    - can't change security settings For some reason I can't change security settings on internet options. I use explorer, Win98. I change it from high to medium and then it asks me if I'm sure I want to. I click yes, accept change and when I go back to check its where I started again. Any advice from anyone. Thanks Dave.     - outlook express I have outlook express 6.0 running on windows 98. many of my e-mail messages that have attachments I receive a message when I try to open them that outlook express has removed the attachments preventing them from being opened because they are unsafe.......however I know that they are safe. how can I change this to quit doing this? any help would be appreciated thank you..........     - windows updates I bought a refurbished laptop running windows 2000 pro. When I went to update site there are 35 updates. The "add" button was grayed but the remove button was active. I do not want to download and install 35 updates at once. Some of them say to install separately. Does the patch, remove the vulnerability in the current version installed on the computer or does the patch upgrade the version of MDAC to a version that is not vulnerable?     - Secure Site Problem Folks, I used AdAware and Spybot S&D which helped get rid of junk, but still cannot get into only one bank secure site. I can get into other secure sites like 401, stocks etc. Have 128 bit and all the updates. Get message "specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a completee set of HTTP headers.     - MS Update Downloads For the past five days or so, each time I log on, the Downloading MS Updates icon appears in my systems tray and shows a status of downloading updates. This will happen several times throughout the day, however, I never receive the dialog box telling me that updates have been downloaded and are ready to install.     - ip masking question Running XP w/ built-in firewall activated. When I got to auditmypc.com it shows my system is secure. So far, so good. However, there are some websites and services that claim to mask your ip address from advertisers if you type a url into their web page instead of into your url window. However, when I test those claims by typing www.auditmypc.com into those sites' windows then click on Privacy Test and choose Option 1, that excellent site now shows all kinds of open ports and lists the various Trojan viruses that exploit them. Most of the sites/products do not seem to actually mask the ip address at all and auditmypc.com is able to detect that. All show numerous vulnerabilities and open ports. One site appears to mask the ip but still shows some vulnerabilities. Are those vulnerabilities 1) only vulnerabilities on the proxy server, or 2) does IE/XP allow those vulnerabilities to be opened on my system even if the firewall is activated? I'm curious about this as well... I keep getting the same
critical update message for (823559) and I download it and
install it and it shows up in "view installation history"
as successful on all the different dates I've installed
it.

Why does it keep happening?
