I have Windows XP Pro sp1 with IE6.0 I also have
installed Adware SE. I just ran scan and found a tracking
on my cookies. I immediately deleted it. I then went
into tools/internet options/privacy/advanced for cookie
handling. Can someone tell me how this should be set?
Should the overide automatic cookie handling be checked
or unchecked and if checked what do I set for 1st party
and 3rd party... Accept, Block, or enable? Any help
would be great. I just ran a scan yesterday and found
8. How do these tracking things get on one's computer?

See the link below on how to configure cookies. I leave mine at medium high or high
and do not configure advanced but I do use the "sites" option and add sites that I
trust and select allow. I still get some tracking cookies though not a lot and
occasionally a web site may not work correctly [and not tell you why] with medium
high/high and I either temporarily lower it to medium or add the site to my allowed
list. --- Steve

Thank you for getting back to me. I also have my cookies
set at medium and have not/or will not configure advanced.
I ran a scan for my IE6.0 browser for security check and
there were a few things found so I just needed to make
sure that my settings were correct. I will leave them the
way they are. What do you mean by: "sites" option and add
sites that I trust and allow. Where is the "sites" option
so I can see if I can add ones I trust. Any help?

In the privacy page look for a box labeled sites or Web Sites/edit and you
can add websites there that will be exempt from ther general privacy setting
if they have allow selected. I have Microsoft.com, Ebay.com, etc listed in
mine which allows me to have general privacy set at high or medum high
without interfering with website access at those websites. --- Steve
