'Harmful Cookies'
It's good practice to do a regular (minimum weekly) scan for any malware
(including cookies that may be used as part of malware) using Ad-aware and
Spybot. If any are found, they should be quarantined or removed there and
then.
'Harmless Cookies'
Some sites use cookies to 'remember' your login details so that you don't
have to enter them every time you return. If you want to keep these, then
you won't want to clean out these cookies ever.
Some of your cookies will relate to sites which no longer exist, or whose
details have changed. So these will need to be cleaned out every so often -
at your leisure.
