I have a W2K3 TS running with RDP clients and everything
works well but my RDP clients get disconnected if inactive
for 10 minutes. I have set and configure every possible
setting I could find (local computer admin templates
policies, user admin templates, group policies, domain
policies etc...)to allow for "no disconnection" but it
keeps happening, I must be missing something or mabe this
is built in feature?

I even removed screen saver on local and TS desktops
No Firewall,
Nothing on event log
No disconnection warning given
thanks

Hi Graham,

Can you check these two places?
* Log on to TS and open TS Configuration Manager. Here right click on
RDP-TCP in right menu and again check under Session.
* Double click on user in AD Users and Computer and click Sessions. Check if
there is anything set here.

I hope this helps,

Mike

Hi Miha,
TS Configuration Manager
Overide User settings
Both not selected
Active Directory - Users
Sessions
End a disconnected session - never
Active session limit - never
Idle session limit - never

Any other thoughts?

Can you check policy on client? E.g. open Group Policy on client and under
User Configuration open Administrative templates -> Windows Components ->
Terminal Services -> Sessions. Are there any settings present here?

Can you also check this on client under Computer
Configuration ->Administrative templates -> Windows Components -> Terminal
Services -> Sessions...

Hi,
Checked in both the places you suggested in the Group
Policy and none are configured.
Keep coming up with the ideas - much appreciated.

I am running out of ideas. I would probably try to look for the problem in
the network. Can you e.g. try to first logon locally on your server (on
console) and then from here logon to same server using TS. Do you get
disconnected from the session after 10 minutes?

Do you have Windows XP Clients?

Hi Mike,
Clarification Please,
You mean load and run the RDP client on the console?
I get the same problem on 6 TC and a Windows98 PC running
the RDP client. Thats all I've Implemented to-date. This
problem is stopping me putting RDP PC's out into the
factory. As you can gather I am new to Terminal Server.
Thanks once again.

Hi,

Yes, with RDP client on console connect to the TS server itself... See if
you are disconnected after 10 minutes...

Client on the console went to the 'This Computer is in Use
and has been locked' - sign on screen after 10 mins of

It gets locked or disconnected? How about clients? Do they get locked or

Re: RDP Client disconnects after 10mins Inactivity by Miha

Hi,

Can you tray and edit this policy setting. You can do this on domain (for
whole domain) but personally I would do it on OU.

In Group Policy Editor, Under User Configuration Administrative Templates ->
Control Panel -> Display. Here change policy "Password protect Screen Saver"
and set it to disable.
If you want you can also disable screen saver altogether by clicking on
"Screen Saver" and select Disable.

I hope this helps,

Mike
