I just purchased a on PII 266 running Win98 2nd edition
for my children. I want to ensure that there currently
is not anything on the computer such as pictures. I am
going to load IE 6.0 and the computer will have other
security to monitor my children, but I need to check the
drive to see if there is anything on it now that
shouldn't be.

I have done a search for Jpg and other files, but how can
I be sure???

Anyone.

The best thing to do to be sure is to wipe the drive and start over.
There are also other good reasons for this:
Eliminates any spyware viruses etc that may be there from previous
owner.
Gets rid of all obsolete files from previous owner thus freeing disk
space.
A Clean Installation will most likely improve performance and
stability.
And more...

Without starting over, you will never be sure until...

Hand over your system to your children and tell them what they can and can't
do. They have a knack of finding out prohibitade stuff. So after a few days,
go over the machine again and eliminate what they have discovered.

And then there is a clean install option you want to exercise.
