After using a standard W2K certificate for about a year, I have found that my certsvc database is corrupt and the certificate service will no longer start. I receive and error message in my app and system logs that states the certificate database is corrupt. I can see my certificate, however, on my drive. How can I restore or correct the database issue

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't have a valid backup of the c:\winnt\system32\certsrv directory and I assume this is the location of the directory. I do get a long sub error code, but I cannot find anything on the MSKB site.

Can the certserver be backed up like we can the Metabase or does it =
require 3rd party software and\or the questionable backup utility in =
Windows. The way I understand it the Active Directory would have to be =
backed up also. In which case we are basically talking a reinstall of =
the operating system.
