I am in need of some help. Recently in the last week, I am unable to view
files or folders on my C: drive on my windows 2003 server. These files are
there, because all of my websites are running ok, but I get a blank right
pane in explorer when I click the C drive.

I am able to create a file on my c: drive but as soon as I create it, it
disappears from the explorer view.

If I go to the command prompt, it puts me in my user folder and I am able to
list files using the DIR command
but if I try to look outside of that folder no files will show up

My question is why would this behavior occur and how can I fix it? Has
anyone heard of this happening before for no apparent reason?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Please send your response to
stuma@deepskysoftware.net

Thanks

To update my issues, I am able to go to any folder using the address bar in
explorer. The problem I have is the root of my c: drive is not viewable so
when I click on C: in explorer, nothing shows. If I go to the address bar
and type C:\Program Files then files in program files show.

Any idea what happened to my root folder? Is there some security or
registry entry that would let me see it again?

Thanks

Steve

Is it only in Details view?
If so, read on...

Click in the blank right-hand pane.
Press the Ctrl key and the + key
(only the + key on the numeric keypad)

Q179875 Windows Explorer Does Not Display Item's Contents in Right
Pane

If not... then please try a newsgroup for you operating system as this
does not appear to be a security problem.

No, all the views are the same. If I click on C: in explorer nothing shows.
If I type C:\Program Files or any other path into the address bar I see the
files and folders ok. I just cant see the files in the C: drive including
sub folders

Thanks

Here is an update to my original problem:

Ok, I seem to be able to see files in my C: drive now but I didnâ??t do
anything to make it happen. When I first went into the server today I could
not see my files on the root. I played around a little bit and tried copying
some .log files to the root folder just to see what would happen. As soon as
I did this, the root folder and files became visible. What the heck does
that mean? I noticed that there are some strange files in the root that seem
to be put there when rebooting. They are named t1m4 and t1m4.1 I have no
idea what these files are. They seem to have showed up around the time of
the problem. I deleted the ones not in use and rebooted and those files
showed up again. After rebooting I checked explorer to see if I could still
see the root files and folders and I could. I scanned my C: drive for
viruses but none were found.
