Today I updated my Outlook Express to version 6 and now I
cannot open any attachments, even the ones I previously
opened before the upgrade. Is there an option In OE that
will allow me to be to open attachments if I choose to
open them?

Hi

The update you did caused this.

Tools>>Options>>Security, in the Virus Protection, uncheck the box relating
to "Do not allow attachment ... bla bla bla"

When Outlook Express is updated, by default attachments are blocked (the
option is checked). This prevents users from opening certain types of
attachments and make them think that they have a problem/bug etc. The
newsgroup is flooded with this very same question.

I use the IEAK to create custom IE6SP1 kits to make my life as net.admin
far easier (not having to set up proxy settings, mail accounts and so
forth). There is an option in the IEAK to enable this setting. I have
not tried enabling it, but I have definitely gone back time and time
again to make sure it's disabled in the IEAK. It most definitely is NOT
enabled in my IE kits, but ends up enabled on installation.

If theres a registry value I can mung to make undo this if the
installation sets it by default, that would be very useful information.
