My computer runs on Windows XP Prof, and Protoride.worm came in. It travelled across my home network and infected another computer on XP Home and one on Win98 2nd Ed. The Win98 one seems to be ok now after getting rid of the worm. I need hel[p with the XP Prof one. I cannot access any applications from the desktop and from the menu. I get this error message saying I do not have permission. Norton Systemworks could not delete the file msupdate.exe from the start menu and could not repair or quarantine the worm either. I went into DOS and repaired the registry before this error message came up. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

System Restore option in Windows Me/XP

Users of Windows Me and Windows XP should temporarily turn off Syste
Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default
to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If
virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back u
the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer.

Windows prevents outside programs, including antivirus programs, fro
modifying System Restore. Therefore, antivirus programs or tools canno
remove threats in the System Restore folder. As a result, Syste
Restore has the potential of restoring an infected file onto you
computer, even after you have cleaned the infected files from all th
other locations.

Also, a virus scan may detect a threat in the System Restore folde
even though you have removed the threat.

For instructions on how to turn off System Restore, read your Window
documentation, or one of the following articles:
