It's probably not a virus but just in case I'll include the standard text
for that as well. What you probably have is a bit of malware/spyware
installed though there's a fine line between these items these days.
Here's some sites and software which will help you:
Ad-aware - Download.com - Free downloads, shareware, and more.:

Update your antivirus software. If you don't have any go here:
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php
There's a free version of Outpost Personal Firewall located here:
http://www.agnitum.com/download/
If you're using XP you can enable the firewall that's built in (ICF or
Internet Connection Firewall)
This is how:
On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
Click the Network and Internet Connections category.
(If the Network and Internet Connectionsis not visible, click Switch to
Category View under Control Panel on the left side of the Control Panel
window.)
Click Network Connections.
Right-click the Dial-up, LAN, or High-Speed Internet connection that you use
to connect to the Internet, and then click Properties from the context menu.
On the Advanced tab, under Internet Connection Firewall, select Protect my
computer or network, and then click OK.
The Windows XP firewall is now enabled.
With all of the software, download, install, update, and if applicable
delete any items that it finds and configure it to your needs.
