Hello,
I recently upgraded to zonealarm pro, and I believe it is
causing me to have connection problems...

Anyhow, this never seemed to happed with just plain
zonealarm. What is the best free firewall out there?

Thanks,
Dan

Opinions differ.

I like Kerio's personal firewall:

There is no such thing as best..

My personal top 3 are...

1. Tiny Personal Firewall series 2.0x
2. Sygate Pro
3. Agnitum Outpost.

I started this poll to get the public opinion:

As you can see it's very widely spread.

It probably is a configuration issue, you may want to reinstall or see if you can
reset to default settings. The best free firewall is the one that is the best fit for
you. I personally like Kerio and use a Netgear FVS318 at the cable modem. --- Steve

1st question.
Is the PC part of a network. ie. Your on the PC and the one you
put zonealarm on is a different PC connecting to the web.?

If it is. Only way i got it to work right was take ZA off and
use that hacked up excuse for a XP fire wall.

2nd.
Assuming your on the same one as the connection is. Check to make
sure your XP firewall is off. Microshaft don't like to play with other
people's toys.

3rd.
is it one of the newer ones? i have one from right before XP came
out. it installed and worked but had problems till i stepped up to a
closer to 3 version number. think it was like 2.67 something.
