Attachments such as Word documents are being removed from
my incoming Emails by Internet Explorer or by Norton.
Which do you think is doing it? How do I change the
settings?

Inernet explorer had better not have anything to do with your incoming mail,
so I would presume it might be stripped by Norton. You didn't specify which
particular piece of Norton-ware you suspect, so that's all I can deduce.

If you are using Outlook Express, the default behaviour for OE is to
prohibit access to attachments that it thinks might be potential viruses...
look at:

Tools \ Options and then under the security tab there is a check box
near the top "Do not allow attachments ...." etc.

Jim;
Outlook Express:
Open Outlook Express.
Click Tools, click Options, click Security tab.
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

This change that Microsoft implemented is to help prevent viruses and
other bad code being received with attachments.
It is ALWAYS a bad to open an unexpected attachment.
Verify the sender sent the attachment before opening.

Microsoft NEVER sends Email with attachments.

It is very important to keep your antivirus updated and run it at
least weekly.

Neither; MS Outlook Express is removing ***ACCESS*** to the attachments. The
attachments are still there, but you can't get to them with the default MSOE
security settings.

May I suggest that you practice reading and comprehending what you read
before you change MSOE to allow access to attachments? Failing to understand
what was written will lead to viral infection; as you will invariably take
the wrong steps, when faced with a threat.
