Why do Spybot and Adaware find cookies? Are cookies really a threat to
your privacy or the health of the computer?

They can contain all sorts of information in plain text.
Certain applications can be written just to read the contents of your
cookies and sent it - that way it gathers tons more in a moment than it
could any other way.

As the others says ,cookies are more or less dangerous...

I think it is a good habit to clean all the temporary stuff every day.

>> Delete the Internet Explore and Outlook Express temporary files

Start -> Settings- > Control Panel -> Internet Options

There ,on the General Tab you will see where you can delete
internet temporary files
cookies
history
Delete them all.

>> Run Disc clean-up

Goto Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disc Cleanup

Make sure you have checked :
Downloaded program files
Temporary Internet files
Temporary files
Recycle bin
Web Client/Publisher content

Cookies are simple text files as already stated and do not have to be a
threat.
Cookies are already easily controlled from within Internet Explorer:
Open Internet Explorer
Tools/Internet Options/Privacy

Cookies are also easily deleted:
Open Internet Explorer
Tools/Internet Options
General tab
"Delete Cookies"

This may be why Microsoft AntiSpyware does not look for cookies.
Perhaps cookies will be detected in the final version, time will tell
