can anyone help? i tried to install winXP on to a new HARD
drive SAMSUNG (80 GB). goes to blue screen then loads..
but stops and says acpi.sys file is corrupted or acpi.sys
file is missing.. can anyone help me remedy this problem??

First thing I would say is to go into your computer's
BIOS, into the power management section and ensure that
ACPI is ENABLED. If you had been using the computer with
an older operating system until now, this could be
switched off.

Ensure also that Plug&play OS is switched to YES.

This error message may also arise if your Windows XP cd is
scratched/damaged, the CDRom drive is not correctly
reading the CD, or if you have bad sectors on your new
hard drive.

I've also experienced missing file/corrupt file issues
upon installation when there have been IDE cabling issues,
faulty RAM, or using a CPU in a motherboard that wasn't
originally designed to go that high (recently had a spate
of people buying 0.13u Athlon XP's and trying to put them
in boards that only supported Palamino cores)
