    - Security Certificate Hi, I have been trying to login to my hotmail account through www.hotmail.com but unable to do so because everytime I fill in my details and press Sign In, a security alert dialogue box opens wanrning me about the expiry of the security certificate. Further it gives me three choices to proceed - YES, NO and VIEW CERTIFICATE (When I press this option I find that the expiry date of the certificate is 6/11/2004 which means it has not expired). Its a funny kind of problem but very irritating. But the puzzling fact is that it happens only on one particular PC in my office and it started happening just a couple of days ago.     - Unable to find cache when downloading the Applet Hi I am using a FileNET based application which is used to view the tiff files in an applet called Viewone.But whenver i try to download the applet using IE 5.0 it says the "Unable to find cache in the path "c:\WinNT\java\cache" (Which is the default location for the applet cache generally it will be downloadd where the JVM is installed).     - Microsoft 2003 CA - mark key as exportable greyed out I've been using a Windows 2000 certificate authority for some time. I now upgraded to Windows 2003, but when requesting a "Web Server" certificate, the "Mark keys as exportable" option is greyed out.     - People PC Toolbar How in the world do I uninstall this annoying icon on my IE browser? I uninstalled People PC over a year ago and here it is still. I have called PPC on 3 different occassions and no one can figure it out (of course). From my searches with google, I have found that this may be Spyware. I have Stopzilla, called them and they cannot help me remove it either. I have Windows XP. Also, could I uninstall IE and then re-install it?     - Blocking junk mail I would like to block all junk mail from my Outlook Express, without having to block them all one at a time. I want to know if there is a way to recieve mail only from senders in my address book? Everyday there are hundreds of garbage emails that are annoying and likely dangerous to my computer, so I haven't been using this site, just go in and delete all the crap and leave.     - downloading security patches from ms I recently bought a new Hp computer from Best Buy with windows XP home. The technician offered to download for me the latest security patch from Microsoft for XP (for a $24.95 charge, of course). But I was in a hurry to catch a plane, and he told me I could download this patch myself from Microsoft website, which particularly stops the "blaster " worm. I have latest Macafee firewall and virus control software, but he said that is sometimes not enough. IS this true, or was this guy just trying to squeeze another $24.95 out of me?     - Hacked? Hello. My ignorance will be vivid here.... I'm currently doing marketing at a small office, but, as I'm technically inclined enough to be dangerous, in my spare time do the IS support as well. They had an outside consultant set up the system, and he had done other setups/management when needed, but, is no longer available. He'd set up the network with a Symantec VPN/Firewall appliance as the external gateway, but had opened up ports to a server inside the network which is currently hosting the email server (Xmail), DNS, as well as a simple web app to do web-mail checking for employees from the outside. Also opened ports for ssl, termserver, ftp, smtp, and pop3, and another port for remote admin. Looked a bit insecure for me when I noticed it, so, I installed ZoneAlarm on this server inside the network, which is currently working. Plans are to move the web serving onto another server which will be put into a DMZ. After noticing these open ports, I also decided to pay more attention to the firewall logs, and noticed not just the normal external port scan attack blocks, but also that a couple of computers, including the company server, are attempting to access outside IPs using closed port calls (therefore, the firewall catches and logs them). These blocks come with the message 'Block host "" internet access', and are typically using ports 139 & 445. Looked suspicious, so, I ran an fport scan on the server, and it did show ports 139 & 445 open, but, shows that the Pid is 8 (the system).....Also did some ethereal scan of the network, and it does show that the server is trying to access this specific external ip address. My question is (kudos if you've patiently read everything so far), how do I find out what this process is that is trying to do these accesses, or am I being overly paranoid. As you can most likely tell from this, I'm not the most technically adept IT support person, so, I'd also appreciate references/suggestions on materials to help me out here. Thanks in advance to all.     - site configuration Folks; I have three servers of equal capabilities. All run Win2k3 Load is not a real concern now.Security is of primary concern. I need to run AD with a backup controller. I need to run Backup Exec. I need to run SQL2000. I need to run Exchange 2003. OWA is active and through the firewall. I need to run IIS (five sites) also through the firewall. I need to keep SQL and IIS separate for security reasons. The AD domain is not heavily trafficed, but does run dhcp and dns. Since OWA opens the Exchange box up to the firewall I was considering using it as the IIS server also. Is this a no-no? The other question is where I should run AD? I want to consolidate as much as possible. My thought is Server 1 AD Primary with dns and dhcp. All roles here. Backup Exec here. Server 2 SQL 2000 BDC? When on the yahoo homepage, & I want to check my email, I type in my user name, then passward, then I click on the box that says "remember my user name and password on this comp".     - hidden user account While looking under user accounts in the control panel I discovered an account I was unaware of. It doesn't show up on the welcome screen. I ran safe mode and it doesn't show up on the welcome screen or the user accounts screen. The account is named ASP.NET Machine A... and is a limited account that is password protected. Which OE message? More info would help.
