    - Redeploying Reports Hi everyone, is it possible to "package" my reports so that I can deploy them on different servers? If so, how would I go bout doing this?     - Incorrect page count on reports that use drill-down or have hidden I am getting an incorrect page count on reports that use drill-down or where report items are hidden. The Globals!TotalPages returns 1 on a report that clearly has more than one page. On these reports, the Globals!TotalPages returns the correct page count for the print preview. I get the same results whether this function is in the header or footer. My goal is to display the current page and total pages on each page.     - Deployment of Reports to new environment Hi, We developed reports using BI studio of SQL Server 2005 (for MS Reporting services). When we do this, the project is saved as a solution file, but, we don't want to provide solution files to be sent for deploying in new environment. We identified the following options for deploying reports in another environment. Option - 1 Use shared data sources for creating .rdl files Upload all .rdl files (manually) through Report Manager Create shared data sources with same name as used in .rdl file Option -2 Script for publishing reports. The utility "rs" can be used to execute this script. Eventhough this script solution was provided by Microsoft, it is not supported by them.     - Newbie question, how to report a stored procedure Hi, I would like to make a report against a Sql Server 2005 stored procedure. The SP returns a table-like resultset.     - How to output newline character in Reporting Service Hi all, I have a string variable in a SQL SELECT statement with newline characters in it, something like this: SELECT @a = '123' + '\r' + '\n' + 'xyz' When I output that string variable to Reporting Service, the newline chars are not shown as expected but still shown as '123\r\nxyz'.     - Reporting Services under Windows Vista Hello, I tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express with Advanced Services under Windows Vista RC1 x64. However I allways get the following Warning: "ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement: Failed to find the ASP.Net Version Registration with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)."     - problems with report builder from reportserver Hello, I have been playing with the report builder, the one that can be started from the reportserver (RS2005). In this report I am using the WEEK function in the filter, the calendarweeknr I selected from the datetime dimension. These two are supposed to interact with each other. When running the report I get this error: An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for data set 'dataSet'. Semantic query execution failed. The 'Week' function is not supported. In general I get a lot of datefunctionrelated functions, see example: An error has occurred during report processing.     - How to List Left-Outer Join Data I have a left-outer join between a table of Sales Opportunities and a table with Activities associated with those Opportunities. On one of my report tables I need to filter out all completed activities and then list those Opportunities that do not have an activity left (eg no open activities are scheduled).     - Reference Book Needed I'm a consultant with 20+ years of experience. With Crystal Report Writer, I just sat down and starting playing with it to figure it out, but now I am confronted with using SQL Reporting Services 2005. It is definitely giving me a shot of humility because I am finding it the most frustrating experience ever. I purchased a pretty good book written by Brian Larson, but it is presented in a procedural format, and is not being very helpful when I have something specific to accomplish. I'm also trying to use the online help and newsgroups, but the process is painstakingly slow. My challenge of the moment is in constructing a date range expression, but I am also stuck on the parameters of the format function. I loved Crystal in that I could use the wizard to give me a jump start with the formatting, and then could edit it into more advanced queries. Can anyone offer any suggestions on where I could find a good SQL Reporting Services reference? I'm open to anything at this point -- website, book, notes scribbled on a napkin...     - Analysis Services 2005 Deployment Wizard Hi, I used the deployment wizard in the analysis services 2005 to convert it into XML script. Using the SQL Management Studio I opened it as Analysis Server scripts and used the local host as the system in the connections windows then loaded the XML script into the Queries window as a XMLA query.     - How do you delete the content from a named server instance Hi all, I have been getting the message that - The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. Check the documentation for more information. (rsReportServerDisabled) (rsRPCError) In the past I have just deleted the encrypted content by typing rsKeyMgmt -d at the command line. However it cannot find the database and I am assuming that this is because I am using a named instance for the reporting server database. Couple of questions then - 1. How do you delete the content from a named server instance? 2. I was also told that you can install RS2005 sans database.     - Rendering to .PDF with Sub Reports Hi I'm trying to render a report with 2 sub-reports to pdf format. All Margins are set to zero, and Page width = 8.5 page height = 11 in all 3 reports. The report looks fine on the "Preview Tab", for the main and the two sub reports. The .pdf prints the main report (upper 1/3) ok, but the 1st sub-report skips a page before it is rendered then skips another page before rendering the 2nd sub-report. I was under the impression that if the report is set to 8.5 X 11 and margins are all set to zero this would take care of my blank page problem. I've been hacking for a while on this adjusting my rectangles, lists and tables to make sure they are < 8.5 X 11. Most of the reports have already been developed in VS2k3 for another customer that uses strictly MS SQL and I have converted these to VS2k5 and been looking at the ReportViewer winform and webform controls. I would like to use it in local mode because this customer doesnâ??t want a SQLServer installed anywhere. Ideally I would just like to pass an Oracle DB connection string to the report viewer and let the SQL in the rdl file do its work. But, as I understand it, I have to pass the DataTable directly to the report when using local mode? So is there anyway to open an rdl file and obtain the SQL? I can then query the DB and pass the resulting data back to the ReportViewer.LocalReport.DataSource. Any example code would help, I canâ??t imagine all this is required just to run a simple report without a SSRS? My customer now wants me to consider using crystal reports instead but I would like to stay on the MS format.     - 2 datasets are incorrect (urgent) apologize in advance - this might be a lot of text. I am using sql v2k and VS .Net 2003 - i have many reports working quite fine. some multiple dataset resultsets, some single dataset resultsets...they all work fine - except one. It has five datasets - each dataset is command type Text. Dataset1, dataset2 and dataset5 are correct -- Dataset3 and Dataset4 are incorrect. It's pretty much all aggregations/calculations. I am going to copy in both of the incorrect dataset results, so you can see my error, and then I am going to copy in ALL dataset logic, so that you can maybe help me find my problem. What is the problem? My numbers aren't adding properly.     - Reporting Server Database Blocking with Itself? We just upgraded to SSRS2005 from SSRS2000. We had been running on 2000 for about 2 years, with many subscriptions. Since the upgrade, most of our subscriptions have failed, with the error being "The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." The one catch is - is it possible to display dataset rows in a dataregion where the dataset rows are display horizontally? I have used the Reporting Services Webparts a couple of times in combination with SPS 2003 and SQL 2000/2005. Now we are running a pilot with SQL 2005 and MOSS 2007. Problem is that the report explorer and the report viewer webpart do not show any reports. On the SQL 2005 server we installed the report server. This report server is up and running and the reports are available through the report manager. I installed the rswebparts.cab from the SQL 2005 server on the MOSS 2007 server. I have inserted the webparts on a webpart page. This is how I configured the report explorer webpart: - The Report Manager URL: http://sql01/reports - Start path: dashboard I experimented with all kind of start paths like \dashboard\ or just \ or leaving it empty. But nothing seems to work. Could this be a MOSS specifi problem? These are my questions: 1) Does any one have experience using the RS webparts succesfully on MOSS 2007 or WSS v3? 2) Does any one have tips regarding MOSS 2007 and the RS webparts?     - looping through report items of a rendered report Hi all, Situation: I have a WinForm application that uses the SQL 2005 reportviewer component. That reportviewer uses a local report. The report definition contains a report item (textbox) called "txtEmail" in the table header. Would it be possible to walk (in runtime!) throught all the report items of a rendered report so I can get the value of the report item "txtEmail"? I've tried this code to walk through all the items in a rendered report: ListControls(reportViewer.Controls); private static void ListControls(Control.ControlCollection control) { foreach (Control e in control) { Console.WriteLine(" * " + e.ToString()); ListControls(e.Controls); } } but it didn't list the actual report items. I expected to see some output like " * txtEmail" but that control isn't listed. Purpose: I have a report that lists a single email address in the table header. I have overridden the default export behaviour of the reportviewer so I can render the report to PDF and mail it to a emailaddress that is available in the rendered report.     - report parameter's default value can't see a textbox value hey, I have an invisible textbox on my report that will be hardcoded to store a config value (a GMT offset value). If I have a report parameter StartDate with a default value of =3DToday() how would I be able to use the value in this textbox with my default parameter value so it would be =3DToday().AddHours(ReportItems!txtGMTOffset.Value) At the moment this is giving me a build error - "A value expression used for the report parameter 'StartDate' refers to a report item.     - RS 2005: Datepicker control slows down opening of reports? I've created a set of reports with RS 2005, using the wonderfull date picker control. My reports has 6 of these controls. And the reports are using ages to open. Looking at task manager, I see that the service iexplorer.exe uses a lot of both CPU and memory when I open these reports, and they use several seconds to open up and ready to be used. The date picker controls are all filled with default dates, that I get from a data set based on MS CRMs database. The actual reports renders quite quickly when I've made my selection. Has anyone else experienced that reports with the date picker control uses a lot of resources and time? Anyone got some advice on how to minimize the time and resources used? Kaisa M.     - Excel File Size after upgrade to SRS 2005 We have upgraded our RS 2000 instance to SRS 2005. We have seen that reports exported to excel have gotten huge since the upgrade. For example, we had a report that when run in RS 2000, would export to an excel file that was 900KB. The same report exported to excel in SRS 2005 is now 12 meg!     - Problem with SSRS2005 Report Builder via the internet Hi, I have trawled the internet and the groups looking for the answer to this query but to no avail in that everything I have tried has not worked. I have SQL2005 configured with Reporting Services and Report Builder on my local network and web facing web server using Windows Authentication. My server URL is a full web address which is resolved internally to the web server and is the same as used via the internet which is also resolved to my web server meaning the same URL is used internally and externally. SQL is running on the same server presently though I plan to move it for a live environment. When connecting to Report Manager, Report Builder or the /ReportServer URL's, from within my local network or by VPN, I am prompted for my domain logon which when entered everything works fine. When connecting to Report Manager or the /ReportServer URL's via the internet, again I am prompted for my domain logon and all works well, however when I try to run Report Builder via the internet, I am asked for my logon which appears to be accepted but I get a message "no report server was found at http://serverurl/reportserver." I am confused as I can access and run all the reports using ReportManager and can also view and navigate the ReportServer folder when I enter my authentication details so the report server is functioning via the internet.
