    - Multiple SRS instances one SQL default instance Hi, I have a default instance SQL 2005 (SP2) server and a SRS (SP1) server configured to this SQL box. I want to know if it is possible to install SRS (actually SP2 this time) to another server and have it also configured to the SQL box above. I want this second SRS instance to be independent from the first. It's not for scalability or NLB of the current set of reports on the existing box.     - Using stored Procs in Report Wizard? I am trying to figure out how I can set the query in the report wizard to a stored procedure. In the Query Builder, I see a place for Command Type, and I figured I could just choose or type in an sProc there, however, it's disabled and I can't change it.     - Multiple Parameters I have a stored procedure that I have declared 3 parameters - @Inv_status value (open, paid), @Contract_type (a 4 digit code, i.e. 3000, 3500) and @ProjectID (could be null or could have a projectID similiar to like '30839%') Not all of these parameters will have a value - I am having trouble putting together the where clause I have started with where (Main.Contract_type = @Contract_Type and Main.ProjectID like (@ProjectID + '%')) --ProjectID not empty --or (Main.Contract_type = @Contract_Type or Main.ProjectID like (@ProjectID + '%')) -- ProjectID empty and it is not working.     - Printing options when Export to Excel Hi, My report is fine when viewed, but when i select print preview, it chops off a lot of the report and places it on a separate page.     - Data value in footer based on grouping I have an invoice report for printing multiple invoices that groups (and page breaks) the invoice according to the customer. I'd like to get a value in the footer of the report that will change/reset upon the group change of the report. Tried using ="Invoice for "&(ReportItems!NAME.Value) which works for the first page but not the second page of the invoice (as the NAME field is not on the second page I take it?).     - play a WAV sound file in a report I have an html rendered report in Reporting Services 2005. Everything is fine, the layout, the data, the table has rows in different colors depending on certain conditions.     - Report generation with SSAS MTD, YTD measures Hi, Iam trying to build a report with SSAS cube as underlying database. My cube has three dimensions (namely Time, Location and Product Type) and one Measure group called Sales with just one measure SalesAmt. I have defined two calculated members for MTD_SalesAmt and YTD_SalesAmt which calculate the Month-To-Date and Year-To-Date sales amount. Now Iam trying to build a report using SSRS with all three dimensions and two calculated measures. But report is taking huge amount of time to generate. If I include just two dimensions say Time and Location the report generation is pretty fast. Can anyone help me ? I can see the values with all three dimensions in cube browser.     - SQL Reporting Services - Report model data update Hi, I created a report model using reporting services, deployed model and then built a report based on that model. The report works fine, but any data updates don't show up, seems like data is cached. I bounced reporting services, cleared cached tables in ReportServerTempDB but of no use.     - Creating CSV for Outlook: E-mail We've created a report that is intended to be delivered as a CSV file. This report contains contact information that users will import into Outlook. We would like this to be as seamless as possible. We are running into issues with importing email addresses. By default, Outlook expects the column in the CSV file to be named "E-mail". When SRS exports my table, it ignores the column headers and instead uses the textbox names for the first row of the CSV. SRS will not allow us to the textbox "E-mail". We cannot turn off column headers on the server. We have too many other CSV exports working just fine, unless there is a way to turn it off for a single report. We really perfer the users don't have to do a custom mapping when they import the file. Does anyone have any sugesstions on how to either get SRS 2005 to export a column named "E-mail" or what other label we can use that Outlook would use to automatically map our column to the "E-mail" field?     - Printing Error This has never happened before. My report runs just fine, but when we try to print from the Report Manager, we get the following error: "An error occurred during printing.     - Floating Group header column for Matrix I've created a report with a matrix that has a group header. Problem is, I want the grouping column to appear outside the matrix and not in one of the matix columns since this eats up a lot of report real estate. How can I do that?     - Rendering to PDF problems (Unicode Charecters/Fonts) Hello, We have a requirement to produced PDF reports (through MS Reporting Services or any 3rd party tool) for the corporate marketing website. PDF reports have to be of the highest quality since they are intended for the marketing purposes. Now, I am seeing that the PDFs produced by Reporting services are not rendered very well, to put it softly. Some Fonts that support Unicode characters are not coming through (Fonts are installed on the server) Tables lines very in thickness, etc. So, My questions: 1.) Did anyone experience these kinds of problems when converting to PDF, and how did you deal with them? 2.) When userA is not permitted to view the report server, the following message would normally appear when userA tries to access http://localhost/reportserver Reporting Services Error -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The permissions granted to user 'domain\userA' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Get Online Help -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the correct behaviour. Now say userB and userC both have access to reports. When userB opens the page, it displays the list of RDLs correctly; when userC opens the page, he gets the above error message EXACTLY, meaning the report server thinks userC is userA and displays "The permissions granted to user 'domain\userA' are insufficient ..." So userC becomes userA and is denied access to the reports -- how could this have happened? I've checked the permission of that folder and IIS settings and there is no mention of special translation of username or permission settings for either user. Any ideas where else I should check?     - Matrix pivot column question I have a report that I'm setting up as a matrix. The dataset is returning: Description | Total | Available | Section | SectionQty Item 1 | 4 | 4 | | Item 2 | 8 | 6 | DIS | 1 Item 2 | 8 | 6 | FNC | 1 Item 3 | 4667 | 4651 | FNC | 16 Which shows, for each item, the total # and the available #, along with which section has how many. The Item, Total & Available columns are set up as row groups, the Section column is the column group, and the SectionQty is the detail. When the report renders, I get results of: Item | Total | Available | | DIS | FNC Item 1 | 4 | 4 | Item 2 | 8 | 6 | | 1 | 1 Item 3 | 4667 | 4651 | | | 16 Note the empty column showing up between the Available and DIS columns. How do I get rid of that empty column caused by the null for the first item (which still needs to be on the report to show the total / available qty)?     - subreport with optional parameters Using report server 2005. Say I have a subreport with report parameter "p1" which is nullable, and has a static default value. In the parent report, is it mandatory to map the subreport's "p1" parameter and pass a value to it ? I'm thinking the parent report should run without errors even if the optional parameter is not mapped, but this is not what I'm seeing. Is this by design ?     - Matrix calculation issues Hello, I have a matrix that has the following data Week1 Week2 Week3 Week4 Week 5 .... Week 52 Total % a/z b/y c/x d/v e/ u aa/zz Value 1 a b c d e aa Value 2 z y x v u zz The expression for Total %, sum(value1)/sum(value2) The expression for Value1 is sum(value1) The expression for Value2 is sum(value2) All calcuations are correct. Now, I added another level called Year and made Week expandable. So Week can rolled up/collapsed into Year. For some reason, when I collapse Week into year, the calculation for Total % is incorrect. It shows me the Average of Total% In other words, I see this: +Year Total % Avg( a/z, b/y,c/x.....aa/zz) Value 1 Sum(a,b,c,d...aa) Value 2 Sum(z,y,x,v,u..zz) Can anyone tell me why Total% is showing me an average as opposed to Sum(a,b,c,d...aa)/Sum(z,y,x,v,u..zz)?     - Matrix / Table Combo Hello, I have an request that is throwing me for a loop. The user is asking for a report that provides purchasing amounts by months for the last 15 months, then asking for summary stats from different tables, i.e sales, cogs and inventory. Normally I would use a matrix report to present the 15 months of data. I could use sub queries to retrieve all the columns that are needed, but I was hoping there was a simpler solution.     - Subreports: Parameter value dropdown shows sum and Count fields bu I have just started using SQL Server reporting services and am stuck with creating subreports. I have a added a sub report to the main report. When I right click on the sub report, go to properties -> Parameters, and click on the dropdown for Parameter Value, I see all Sum and Count fields but not the data fields. For example, In the dropdownlist for the Parameter value, I see Sum(Fields!TASK_ID.Value, "AppTest"), Count(Fields!TASK_NAME.Value, "CammpTest") but not Fields!TASK_NAME.Value, Fields!TASK_ID.Value which are the fields retrieved from the dataset assigned to the subreport. When I manually change the parameter value to Fields!TASK_ID.Value, and try to preview the report, I get Error: Subreport could not be shown. I have no idea what the underlying issue is but am guessing that it's because the field - Fields!TASK_ID.Value is not in the dropdown but am trying to link the main report and sub report with this field.     - Point Labels on Chart control are not visible sometimes Some of the Point Labels on a chart (chart type = Bar) are not visible under certain circumstances. In many cases it is the label of the widest bar (with the biggest value), but most of the time it is the last label (on the bottom oft the chart). To reproduce place a chart control on a report layout, set the chart type to Bar. Set up a datasource, and drop a datafield onto the datafield area of the chart control. Select "Show point labels" and select a data label source. Normally the labels are shown for each bar now. The behaviour of disappearing labels can be observed in layout view of report designer when the chart (height) is resized (by mouse draging). If the size of the chart is changed, some labels (in most cases the lowest one) disappeares for certain sizes of the chart.     - Refresh Button Not Working In 2005? Hi, in RS 2000 if you ran a report, then change some parameters and press the RS Refresh button (not browser refresh button) the report would re-run with the new parameter values. In RS 2005, you do the same thing, the report re-runs but with the old parameter values and the new parameter values are still visible. Is this a bug in 2005 or an intentional behaviour change? I know you can press View Report but some users prefer Refresh because the View Report button can disappear off the right of the screen for some reports.     - Reporting Services and Temp tables I was going over through the report wizard and in the query string specified the stored procedure that i want to run such as exec dbo.sproc1 and it gives me an error There is an error in the query. Invalid object name '#temp1'. #temp1 is one of the temp tables in my stored proc that I use. Sproc runs fine when run in Management studio.. just gives me that error in the report wizard.     - Problem in report format in Outlook 2003 I am emailing reports to employees every night through Subscription feature of SQL Reportings Services 2005. I used Render Format as "Web Archive" The report looks good in the email but once an employee tries to print out that email then some of the rows got half copied copied to next page.     - Report Server Security I have been playing around with the security on my SQL Reporting Server and want to make sure I have reset it correctly. Under my default website I have \Reports (http://server/reports). When I Right Click the virtual and go into the Properties/Directory Security Tab/Edit button on the Authentication and Access control what should I have checked for "Enable Anonomous" checkbox and and "Integrated Security" checkbox? Same goes for default website\ReportServer. What would happen if only Anonomous is checked? When I have only Integrated checked on \ReportServer I get just a plain page giving me the Reporting server name and a MSRS version of 9.00.3042.00 But nothing else. After installation the SQL 2005 with SRS, I can not start from web - I use
http://myserver/reportserver - I receive only one error message - An internal
error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
(rsInternalError) Get Online Help
Could not find stored procedure 'GetOneConfigurationInfo'.
I try reinstall the SRS - wit the same errro.
Can anybody help me, what I can try ?
