    - Exporting to multiple sheets in Excel has limitations ? guys, I am exporting a report in excel that generates in different sheets. It seems that only 3 tab or sheets can be generated. If the report exceeds 3 sheets all the rest of the sheets combined in the last sheet. Can anyone confirm this?     - trying to understand Report Viewer control Hi, I am still trying to get my head around the ReportViewer control. I thought that this control would enable me to run reports without connecting to the database. Am I wrong? I tried the walkthrough "Using a Database Data Source with the ReportViewer Windows forms control in Local Processing Mode". However, when I moved the project to another computer without a database, it looked for a database. What I thought was that this control would "embed" the data so that the report (embedded as the ReportViewer control in my VB form) could be run anywhere in an exe file. Please can someone help me understand what is meant by Local Processing mode. And, can I distribute reports offline (no connection to the company database) using this control?     - Report Viewer 2.0 Windows Authentication Hello, We have an public site with a page now using ASP.NET 2.0 and the 2.0 Report Viewer control (we previously tried this with RS 2000 for many, many months). It is connecting to a (NAT'd FQDN) SQL2005 Report Server using default Windows authentication. There is a local user setup on the Report Server that I want this public site to connect as (I can do this by typing credentials). I do not want and can not have the pop-up windows authentication. HOW DO I AUTHENTICATE WITHOUT TYPING IN CREDENTIALS? We are a Gold Partner and would really appreciate a direct solution to this issue. There has been countless similar requests that come up on all kinds of searches, yet no direct solution. We don't need to know that you have to implement "IReportServerCredentials".     - XML Error on new Report Creation I've got a real annoying problem. I'm trying to do SSRS project that is of course already late. And I have been stopped cold by this freaky error. So I'm using VS.Net 2005, Reporting Services 2005 and have the Business Intelligence Projects in my VS.Net. I create a new Report Project. I right click on the Reports folder in the project and CHoose Add-->New Item-->Report. At which point VS creates the RDL file, opens it and gives me a gray screen that says, "The XML Document is not well formed. It contains the following error: There are multiple root elements. Line 27. Position 2." I open the RDL file in a text editor and it looks fine. I open it in Firefox and IE and they both agree that I've got a well formed xml document. I zipped up the project, sent it to my co-worked, he opened it on his system with no problem. Looks just like a blank report. I end up, un-installing VS.Net and Sql 2005 then re-installing them. In the thought that maybe something along the way had put a dent in the VS Business Intelligence on my system. But that proved to be noting but a big waste of time. So here I am, with a system that cannot even open a brand new blank report, much less hope to work on the exisitng report that's giving me issues.     - Error when open Report Manager RS is installed on the same server with the WebServer. I run this from a domain network PC: http://WebServerName/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and I receive this error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. What I checked: 1.On the WebServer go in IIS , then Default Web Site, then Reports, then Proprieties, then Security and ONLY Integrated Windows Authentication is checked 2. The save as above for ReportService under Default Web Site 3. Open Windows Explorer on the Web Server and go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer where ReportService.asmx file is located. In the same folder have a look in web.config file and: <authentication mode="Windows" /> <identity impersonate="false" /> 4 IIS is version 6 5. Web Server is Windows 2003 6.     - Too many columns in a Matrix I have a need to report on all the ticket numbers assigned to each indiviual. Currently, i have one report that queries for all the individuals, and in the table calls a subreport. In the subreport is a matrix that displays all the tickets assigned to that individual. The problem that i'm having is that if there are more than 10 tickets assigned to any 1 individual, then the ticket numbers scroll off the screen.     - Schedule and Delivery Processor Error I am having issues with getting our Development Report Services Server to schedule any reports to run. Recently, I had to change our service account to a non-expiring one and now I get the following in our Event Log. Schedule and Delivery Processor Failed to decrypt symmetric key. Most likely cause is the serivce username has changed. Our setup is as follows: W2K3 Web Server (running Reporting Services) and a seperate SQL 2000 Enterprise Server housing the Reporting Services database. I have run the rsconfig and the rsactivate after changing the service account which completed successfully. Does anyone have any suggestions, short of totally reinstalling, to get this error corrected and the scheduler working?     - Pls Help with Layout I havent used sub reports or done anything too fancy like embeddinig them in a group or something. I have a report which has summary data and detail data to be displayed ... nothing unusual I am sure. I have set it up using a table and have the summary group working ... now how do I get it to display the detail for each summary group in between the summary group lines ... and perhaps even as a subreport or area that can be shown/hidden ... so they first see all the summary and then can selectively display the detail.     - Login failed for user 'null' I am using SQL Server 2000 and VS.net 2003 with Reporting Services. I have deployed several reports. I am trying to open a report to edit it. When I click on the data tab, I get the following error: A connection cannot be made to the database. Set and test the connection string. Login failed for user 'null'. Reson: not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. I can open a different report and it works fine. I am connecting to the exact same db with the exact same credentials. I am using the "use a specific username and password" option and using a read only account created in SQL Server. I can test the connection and it says it connects successfully. What is going on?     - Help! Parent Group I need a better explanation of when I need to choose a parent group on the grouping and sorting tab. I have 3 groups client, state, city. I need to use document map labels and the hierarchy needs to be client state city on the grouping and sorting tab I enter expression to group on for group 1 it is CLIENT and the document map is CLIENT for group2 it is State and the Document Map is State and the parent group is Client for group3 it is City and the Document Map is City and the parent group is State. Is this correct? It renders correctly with the proper document map hierarchy in preview mode ... but when I export to PDF then I lose the hierarchy for some reason. I am confused. I havent seen a very good explanation about when to use parent group and when not to. Please dont send a reference to the manager/employee recursive example as I dont really get that. If you are only supposed to use the parent group for recursive hierarchies then why does it seem to work other times and not work if I dont put something under the parent group?     - bookmarks vs doc map labels? I dont understand the difference between these two items. I put document map labels in for reports that I want to export to PDF format. However ... when they are exported ... the pdf tab I have to choose to see them is called Bookmarks! What is the difference?     - SRS 2005 + Custom Security + New ReportViewer Control I'm having a some trouble getting the new reportviewer control that comes with vs.net 2005 to work with Reporting Services 2005 with Custom Security. If I use the old reportviewer control with a ASP.NET 2.0 Web app it works perfect but I want to use the new ReportViewer control. When I try to use the new reportviewer control I get redirected to the custom report server login page. It's awkward because if I used the old report viewer the report gets rendered and there is no redirection to the login page. I'm using a proxy class along with the LogonUser method to make sure the authentication cookie is transmitted with requests to the server. Has anyone else ran into this problem?     - Problem with fonts size in Rendering Hi All, I am using Render method (into EMF) to print the report automatically. I have SP2 with my RS, when i print Report through client side printing it works fine, but when i print reports using render method (a C#.net code) or through delivery extension, then font size get increased.     - Excel rendering using RemoveSpace device setting Hallo, I am having the same problem as Bill 11/29/2005. I am rendering a report in Excel using rc:RemoveSpace=0.5in, but I cant make it work. I have tried different numbers in the RemoveSpace setting, but I cant see any difference on the result in Excel- it is still in a lot of blank rows and colums in Excel.     - Newbee question on Reporting Service Hi, I am new to Reporting Service, I came from Crystal Reports background. Have 2 questions: (1) The Reports cretated via report designer are not object oriented? They are not exposed as classes, my concern is that I can not manipulate the reports programatically. (2) The Reports do not exposed events? This might sounds related to question (1), but even in non OO world, reports expose events too, say MS Access.     - Question want to ask Bruce L-C for report layout! Hi Bruce, I try to create a report to list out all the customer information (with some company information e.g. company name, address in the header). It looks simple to add table to the report for this task. When I add around 20 records in the customer table and use the report to print it out. All the contents are list out to second page when I try to print it out to printer. The first page only print the company name and address and looks a lot of space in the first page. After that I try to delete customer data to 17 records and try to reprint again. All information shown within one page! Please help to solve this problem!     - MDX based report takes forever to execute I have an report that is based on a MDX query. When I browse the cube in SSAS project the response is fast. However when I execute the report in reporting services that is based on this cube the execution takes forever. The report has 6 parameters, all based on MDX queries. There are four measures and one calculated measure in the report. The calulated measure is just a sum of the four measures. The fact table contains approx. 20 000 records.     - Deploying a report to remote server I would like to develop a report remotely for a customer, and then deploy it on their intranet at their location. Basically all development is off-site, and I will travel onsite to install the completed SRS report. They do not have a licensed copy of Visual Studio .NET, so none of the development/maintenance will be done on their server. When I go to install SRS on their server, I will only install the Server components, not the client components. With that said, how do go about getting the actual report installed / deployed on their server? I can do it locally on my development box using "deploy" from within VS.NET, but how do I do it "manually" on a box without VS.NET? I think that it will. The Adventure Works Sample Reports that ships with
SSRS 2005 has a Company Sales report that demonstrates the use of the
matrix. It has Order Year and Order Qtr as columns across the top.
