    - Error in deploying a report Hi guys, I am just wondering if anybody can help me.. I have a report which is working perfectly alright in preview and when I run it , I am getting an error message 'Query execution failed for data set 'AllSiteSummary'. (rsErrorExecuting commnad)' which is the query behind the report. But there is no converting error in the query and it is ok in preview. Do you know Y???? All other reports in this database and with the same tables used in this particular report is working perfectly alright.     - Possible BUG in RS. When populating a matrix and having an expression to set the background of the row , in this case I am setting alternate shading of rows to make reading easier, I would expect the whole matrix row to to be shaded, not just the groups in the row that have a value in them. To simplify my descritpion here, I ask MS why does RS only allow the data groups that have a value in them set the background to that of the expression I specify. Surely the group should set the background attribute I specify regardless of a value contained in the group. The resultant display is like a checker board effect, as groups in the row with data will be grey background and those without the value in the same group will remain transparent.     - TEXT Datatype field does not display on report if length > ~20000 Characters I'm creating a legal report and need to display a narrative stored as a TEXT datatype in a SQL Server 2000 database. If the length of the text in the field exceeds something in the neighborhood of 20,000 characters, the data for the narrative does not display in the text box control on the SQL Report. Instead the report page goes blank from the position of the control through the rest of the page. This is a key portion of my report, otherwise I would choose not to display it.     - Textbox visibility based on an expression Hi, I'm trying to conditionally hide a textbox based on the value of a specific field. I have set the following for the Visibility property: =IsNothing(Fields!ClientReference.Value) I've also tried =IIf(IsNothing(Fields!ClientReference.Value), True, False) This successfully hides the item. However, it also stuffs up two other, completely unrelated text boxes above the text box in question. They don't reference the same field, don't touch it or anything like that. Somehow, they move and go on top of two other text boxes, making both unreadable. Naturally, if I forcibly set the Visibilty property to True (no expression), it works fine and the textboxes don't jump around. Is there some way to get around this stupid bug, or am I going to have to scrap using reporting services?     - How to expose/uncollapse parameters? I have report1 with a jump to report2. When report1 jumps to report2 it passes a PROJECT_ID. On Report2, I have a parameter dropdownlist that contains PROJECT_ID and PROJECT_NAME. 1. Report1 jumps to report2 fine but when on report2, the parameter area is collapsed. How to I expose it without having to train the user to un-collapse? 2. Once on report2, I can display the passed PROJECT_ID. what can I code to get the corresponding PROJECT_NAME from the dropdownlist on report2? Once on report2, it positions to the correct PROJECT_ID in the dropdownlist so I was thinking about using First but when I coded it First(Fields!PROJ_NAME.Value, "MSPSProjectList"), no project name is displayed.     - SQL Reporting Toggle Hidden Column Hello, I have made a drill-in table report with the ability to exapnd and collapse groups. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to expand and collapse a column when a group that exposes detail is expanded. There are no textboxes listed in the dropdown for the columns toggle field, and if I type it in the when I try to preview it it complains about the scope of the textbox refrenced.     - Reporting Services Designer Install/Product Key We installed reporting services on our MS SBS Premium server. The installation was fine, except that the machine doesn't have Visual Studio tools. No worries-- since we plan to develop reports on client machines with VS. That's where the problem is: we can't install the RS designer on the client machines with VS 2003. When we get to the product key page, we enter in the same key that worked for the SBS-P machine, but no love. Message: "This is an invalid Product Key value. Please check the number located on your Product Key sticker." The number we enter is the same as both the sticker on the server case and the reg key on the server.     - how to allow anonymous login to rep services on local machine ? Hi, I cant seem to allow reporting services on 2003 SBS to accept anonymous logon (i.e im always prompted for user/pass from windows). I added EVERYONE and ANONYMOUS LOGON with full control to INETPUB and C:\program files\Microsoft SQL server dirs and made sure these settings replaced all child dirs security i.e cascaded down.     - Help with filters from either a dropdownlist or a "Starts With" textbox My report has a dataset returned from the database. This dataset returns ALL project names we have. A table is bound to this dataset. The end-user wants (1) the ability to filter by just selecting a value from a drop down list ( I can do that) and (2) the ability to filter with a "starts with". Example: My table has in column 1: ABC Project BofA consolidation Chambers A Chambers B Champagne Happy hour Renner FrankFord RTF1 RTF2 RTF3 R&S Analysis etc... So in the following example: the end user can specify "Starts with" Chamb and will get 3 rows. Or Specify "Starts with" R to get the 4 R rows. Or select the full project name from the dropdown If I implement the "Starts With" with a textbox parameter, how do I tell the report to (a) process the "Starts With" textbox when it has user input and ignore the drop down selection(or set its value to None) (b) if the user selects a value in the drop down, process that selection and set the textbox value to blank/null. The bottom line is the user input can be coming either from the drop down list or the textbox but only one of them is processed at a given point in time. Thank you very much in advance.     - problem with properties not affecting the rendered report Hi, I'm posting to find out if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to solve it. Certain properties in the report designer don't seem to affect the programmatically renderred reports. The "Preview" in Visual Studio shows the property changes just fine, but when I render the reports on my own I don't see them, instead it seems to use the default for the properties. The properties in question are: The "Padding" property for text in textboxes. It works fine for me with images, but with text, any changes to this property don't show in the rendered report. The "Sizing" property for images. I want it to be "Clip" so that the image doesn't get stretched, but when I set it to clip it looks good in the preview, but not when I render it. The "BackgroundRepeat" property for "BackgroundImages". I want it to not repeat, but it always repeats, no matter what I set it to. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.     - error after install Hello, We have an vb asp.net website installed via a set up package. We are now trying to add a reporting services site. When we install RS we do not get any errors, however when we try to goto the http://servername/Reports we get the following error. RS seems to be using the web.config of our asp.net site and not the web.config for the RS site. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.     - Date Range Selection Hi! I have added parameter fields for Start Date and End Date selection on a report using Reporting Services. They are behaving like independant fields. How do I tie them together so they behave like a between 2 date selection. Also when I preview the report, it looks like it goes through a lot of the data before the parameter window comes up.     - Customization of RS Hi everybody, I would like to know if somebody has tried to modify ReportingServices webpages. I am trying to integrate RS with other reporting tools, so what I want to accomplish is to catch the post of the "view report" button. My goal is to include other type of reports in RS, for instance, I would like to include Crystal reports, so when the user clicks on them I had an application exporting the report to PDF and displaying that. I would be able to do that if I wrote my own ASP.NET application, I just don't want to write a new (and separate application) but to integrate my reports into RS. The Report.aspx source code is: "<%@ Register TagPrefix="MSRS" Namespace="Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI" Assembly="ReportingServicesWebUserInterface" %> <%@ Page language="c#" Codebehind="Report.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" Inherits="Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.ReportWrapperPage" %>" In other words it is completetly coming from the DLLs. I could replace the assembly by my own assembly and try to inherit from MS classes. However, I am guessing that's not supported (and prone to be pain). BTW, I guess I could replace the Report.aspx altogether and call the original one when the report in question happens to be a RS report.     - Matrix and Charts I have a matrix report that has an embedded Pie chart on the Rows box for the Matirx. This produces a Pie for each row that shows up on the report. Everything shows up fine but I want to show a percent on the Pie rather than showing the hours calculation. I have figured out how to do this for a single pie,with some of the message boards help. e.g. =(Fields!Reg_Hours.Value )/ Sum(Fields!Reg_Hours.Value, "YRT_Proj_Cat") However, when I try this on a matrix the percentages are very small because it is looking at the sum of the total not the sum of the scope or rows that should be included. Any ideas on what the formula should look like base ont he information provided? I have tried =(Fields!Reg_Hours.Value )/ Sum(Fields!Reg_Hours.Value, "Vice_President") but I get the following error: The expression for the chart â??chart2â?? has a scope parameter that is not valid for an aggregate function. The scope parameter must be set to a string constant that is equal to either the name of a containing group, the name of a containing data region, or the name of a data set. Hi all,
I need to save a pdf rendered report directly into one of the predefine path
or local folder when I click on a URL link to display the report at the front
end of my application. The report should be save automatically at the backend
without prompt user to select either to save or open the report.
I can render the report with pdf format but everytime the system will prompt
me with the open/save window which is what I want to skip it.
Anyone got any solution? Please advise
