    - how to create OLAP report which can automatically drill through da Hello, I have used a report based on OLAP datasources (cubes). And there are some parameters defiend in the report, for example, Parameter!Year, Parameter!Month... When I choose the Parameter, the report column will automatically generate data for that Parameter (drill throug?). For exmaple, the sales data for that Year and Month. But in column definition, I saw that the column expression is just something like: =Fields!Sales and nothing special... Rather than displaying the entire contents of a report or query to an end user, I want to show only a subset of records per web page, with controls for moving from page to page.     - Installing SRS where terminal services exists, or both .net 1.1 We are attempting to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM to a client site and have found that it just won't install.. The problem appears to be in installing SQL Reporting Services. They have an SBS 2003 SP1 Premium box as well as a Server 2003 Standard box - the server 2003 box is where they wanted to install CRM, and we were told all it ran was Blackberry server (I know, where SBS is involved, usually one would usually run MS CRM SB and put it on the same box as SBS - but the client didn't want to do this). What we later found out is that it also has terminal services amongst other things - and SQL Server Reporting services does NOT like terminal services, even using change user /install and change user /execute or add/remove programs.. So we then resolved to install SRS on the SBS premium box. On the premium box it complained it couldn't find Visual Studio - ok, no problems, we don't want to do any customisation on this system at this point. It also complained that it couldn't find .net 1.1 and that sharepoint services were installed. I read the notes on deregistering SRS from Sharepoint so that's ok.. As it said it couldn't find ASP.net 1.1, I downloaded the dotnetfx file and attempted to run it. It told me that ASP.net 1.1 WAS on the system. I then went to IIS Manager and found that indeed 1.1 was registered and that it was enabled, with 2.0 disabled. How do I get SRS installer to see .net and therefore install?     - Average Percentage in Matrix Subtotal I have a matrix like the following: Period 1 2 3 4 etc. Should be: name1 3% 1% 2% 3% 2.25% name2 4% 2% 1% 5% 3% etc. Should be: 3.5% 1.5% 1.5% 4% I want to get the average percentage along the bottom row and the last column. Using subtotals it just adds all the percentages. Is there any way to do this?     - Render to PDF not printing all data I have aliased fields in my footer pointing to textboxes that are in a header/rectangle in a table. When rendered to the webpage the information is there and shows in the report viewer, but when its rendered to PDF for printing the information disappears. Before its asked, the activeX print control is giving us fits(taking several minutes to print) and this is our current workaround. but its not working around very nicely.     - Page Break at start or end give a blank page I have a report with 2 groups. I want the inner group to page break before each new group. At the end I do not want it to throw a new page but to print the outergroup footer at the end of the report e.g Publisher Year Book title Year footer page Break ...etc. last page: Publisher Year Book title Year footer Publisher footer With no pagebreak between the year and publisher footers. I have tried using pagebreak at start but that leaves me with a blank page at the start of the report. I have also tried putting the calculation for publisher footer in the year footer, but then I get a blank page at the end of the report. Does anyone have a good answer or workaround?     - rsExecutionNotFound error on SSRS I got an error on SSRS, the story is, I installed Frontpage extension 2002 and then connect to 'localhost\reports\" from vs2005, then error comes up, before that the SSRS is running without any problem. The error message is Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: Execution 'sk024b30xmofwc45xeweqz45' cannot be found (rsExecutionNotFound) All the reports are only show this error message with difference executionID.     - Linked subreports not showing Hi, I've been given the task of trying to sort out an issue with a linked report. Suppose we have Folder A for UserGroup A and Folder B for UserGroup B. Folder A has a report Report A which has sub reports A.1, A.2 and A.3 and we want to also grant UserGroup B access to this report and so set up a linked report to Report A and put the linked report in Folder B. The problem is, none of the sub reports (A.1, A.2, A.3) are showing when UserGroup B try to run the linked report. I've tried linking the sub reports also but this does not work.     - Reporting Services Architecture Hi, In the company that I work at, we already have Reporting implemented for internal reporing use only. However, today my boss asks me if the RS can be open to the public. Let's say I have a client called "ABC" company. In order to give them better customer service, he would like to let user outside my company to access Reporting Services. That means I need a report server so that all web serivces will point to the report server if the clients want to view the report. The reason why they want to do that is we have a reporting group working in the company and it is easy to use and quick to generate the report. More importantly, it can easily generate the graphs on the report. My question is: 1. I have never used/seen any public websites that provide reporting services as part of the website. Is that a norm to post reporting services to the public? If so, is there any security problem and what need to be concerns? 2. I would like to suggest to my boss to use the data driven subscription to send emails along with attachments of the report to the client on scheduled time in stead of posting it to the public online. I've created a separate Instance to house the RS databases and plan on having RS run on only one of the nodes (licensing costs are preventing us from utilizing a web farm). How do I manually configure RS. I've been trying to create a virtual directory with a "$" in it, but it continues to error out. Can't seem to find any specific info on how to do this.     - Fix a Table size on the Report? Hi, i have a report for a printing purpose (on A4 size). Its a bill witch have on the top the adress etc. On the bottom are some other informations. My problem is now, i have in the middle of this report a table witch hold a few products for this bill. => if the product amount is greater then 3 pieces (rows) the bottom part its going on a second page :-( How can i fix the maximum size of this table?     - Data Source Wizard "Connection Manager" dialog box too big - can't use buttons When I am creating a new data source using the Data Source Wizard under VS 2005, the dialog box titled "Connection Manager" is too big for my screen - it is too tall. My video is running at 1024x768 resolution, and that dialog box takes up 75% of the visible screen, plus extends off the bottom. Because Windows won't allow the caption (top of the window) to go beyond the edge of the screen, I can never see or use the buttons that I believe lie at the bottom. My work-around is to press the TAB key one, two or three times after the last visible field in the dialog box and then press ENTER. For example, tabbing three times past the end of the dialog box seems to be a "Help" button, though I have never seen it.     - CRITICAL:Web Reports Printing Slowly We have just deployed a solution to Beta Testing. The reports are taking anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes to print using the activeX printcontrol on the ReportViewer window. If we export the report to PDF it only takes about 5 seconds.     - report builder ad hoc reporting Using SS2000 data with RS2005. If I build a report with report builder, is there a way to see what query the report builder is using to generate the report? I've built a model and created a report from the model. If I create a query in query analyzer to check the results that are generated by the report builder report, I'm off by quite a bit.     - Error in Locale when passing datetime parameter? Hello! I am using RS supplied with SQl Server 2005. I have one report and two subreports inside it. One of the subreports is embedded and another one can be navigated using hypertext link. All reports have one datetime parameter which is entered by user in the main report and passed to subreports. But when in the main report I enter 1-st of november 2006 in subreports it becomes 10-th of january 2006. All reports have language = default. When debugging report (F5) everything is ok.     - Report Bodytext in various Languages? we need to format the bodytext on our reports in various languages. We created a Table in SQL Server: ReportLocalizationBodytext ID, strItem, strText, intLanguage 1, page, Seite, 1 2, page, Page, 2 etc... hundrets of entries We created a Stored Procedure: usp_RPTS_GetBodytext Input Parameters are: @ intLanguageID, @intReportID to identify the current report and the desired Userlanguage returned output-table of the stored procedure is: Select strItem, strText from ReportLocalizationBodytext where intReportID = @intReportID and intLanguage = @intLanguage And now begins the headache: Any one report contains around 20 diferent text labels which have to be localized. Currently we created one dataset for each text label. E.g. the text "Page 1 of 9 pages" needs at least three labels to be translated: "Page", "of" and "pages" so we have three Datasets like: bdytxtPage, bdytxtOf and bdytxtPages Each dataset receives the same 20 items and filters via a Report Definition Language Datase Filter its one only text translation, like: expression, operator, value =Fields!strItem.Value, =, page The final entry in the report-textbox is: =First(Fields!strText.Value, "bdytxtPage") & Globals.PageNumber & First(Fields!strText.Value, "bdytxtOf") & Globals.TotalPages & First(Fields!strText.Value, "bdytxtPages") In english there may be printed: Page 3 of 9 pages In German Seite 3 von 9 Seiten and so on Question: Wouldn't it be possible to create one lonely dataset e.g. Bodytext and then derive each bdytxtText from this complete dataset rather than to go out 20 times for each and every single word to retrieve each time the same dataset, but filter it in a different way?     - how to export an existing report in "custom" format i have an aspx-page which displays a reportingservices - report. i want the user to have the choice to export the report in a format he can choose (excel, pdf, xml, cvs). how can i export the existing report without being forced to call the render-method again? i tried to write the data to the response stream by setting the ContentType and adding an Header.     - report builder - need help reporting from multiple tables I created a data view and model that has two tables joined (one to many relationship). When I go into report builder, I see both entities available for me. When I click one of the entities, I am able to select that entities data items to drag onto my report. However, the other entity disapears. If I delete all the fields from the report, both entities are available again. So it appears as if I can have as many entities defined as I want, but can only use one at a time to report on.     - Extend PDF rendering? Hi, I have a report which is pretty wide. I currently use a 3rd-party pdf renderer which allows me to specify that the pdf needs to fit-the-report-to-the-page. This then adjusts the fonts etc. to squash the report to fit it on an A4 landscape. Can I do the same for the out-of-the-box pdf renderer? Can I derive from it and extend the renderer?
