    - No Report Refresh when Parameters are Changed We have several users that are experiencing a problem that when they run a report, then change the parameters and click the view report button to run the new report, the report does not change. The screen refreshes, but the green circle does not come up to show that the report is being generated. The previous report with the old parameters is still displayed. If they export the new report, it will export correctly with the new parameter values even when the old report is still displayed in IE. This problem is only occuring on some of our computers.     - Filter Prompts "Relative Dates" I've created a report using Report Builder which returns data between 2 variable dates. These dates are provided by the user as Filter Prompts at run-time. Ideally I want the dates to default to the current month (first and last day). However, when I select "Relative Dates" and also "Prompt" in the "Filter Data" screen, this causes the report to crash with the following error: The Value expression for the report parameter 'StartDate' contains an error: [BC30456] 'Date' is not a member of 'Integer'. (rsCompilerErrorInExpression) If I default the start date to, for instance, 10 days ago this problem doesn't occur. It only happens when I use either "First day of this month" or "Last day of this month". If I remove the "Prompt" setting these reports run as they should. Very odd. I'm guessing its a bug. ???     - ReportViewer Missing out pages Hi, Not sure if this is the right group or not, but it seems close enough so here we go: I've been making use of Visual Studio 2005's built in Reporting features to provide some reports from my sqlite database. My current setup is as follows: I have an Sqlite Database which is queried through a dataset to get the data that I want to report on. This dataset is then used to populate a report that is fed into the ReportViewer component. This all works fine, and the required data is retrieved and shown. The problem is that sometimes the report viewer will refuse to show all the pages of a report. If I open a single page report first, then try and look at another report that has 2 pages, only the 2nd page will be shown, and I am unable to navigate back to the first page. It's worth noting that the form that the report viewer is on is instantiated every time a report is viewed, so there shouldn't be any problems with settings being carried over from one report to another? There is also another problem I keep encountering which is that the number of pages is not shown in the "page x of y" are in the report viewer toolbar, regardless of whether there are multiple pages or not, it only shows up when scrolling to another page.     - ASP.NET ReportViewer Control Printing Problem Weâ??re using a ReportViewer control in our ASP.NET pages. Weâ??re having the following problem: Page loads, (parent) report appears on page, leftmost column of report contains links to another report (drillthrough). User clicks on leftmost column link, child report loads in same page â?? replacing the parent. User clicks on â??Printâ?? on the report toolbar, child report will print ok. However, if the user is inactive for 10 minutes or longer, clicking â??Printâ?? will cause the parent report to be printed, even though the child report is the only one visible.     - chart slows report render to crawl in Report Manager I've searched the forums on this issue, haven't really found the answer. I have several nifty little sales reports which crunch a ton of data quite efficiently and render in just a few seconds in Report Manager. I've pushed as much of the data processing back to the server as possible, use a stored procedure (with parameters) in a shared datasource, don't return unneccessary data, all that. It works great. When I first developed the reports, I continued generating my charts (which use the same data as the reports, just grouped differently) in Excel and pasting them in as images. Now I want to stop that nonsense and use the SSRS charts. I fooled around with the charting function and got a reasonable facimile of my Excel charts, two per report, which use their own separate stored procedures and the same shared datasource. Now, reports that used to render in 5-8 seconds may take 1-5 MINUTES. Help! It's definitely the charts--taking them back out fixes the problem. I have complete control over the datasources--would it make more sense to use non-shared sources, or to create totally separate shared sources?     - Newbie question on Reporting Services The shop I work in is new to SQL Server and this fall we are installing Sql Server 2005 with Reporting Services. Apparently the application the database will support will use Reporting Services. A question is arising on whether the created report(s) is considered a database object. That is, if one creates and saves off a report in Test, is this report migrated to production or is the same object in the same location simply used by production? Many thanks in advance.     - Accessing Reporting Services Reports from Mac Hi all. Using a MacMini to access a Reporting Services 2000 installation and getting some very strange results. When using Safari I can browse the folders of the server, and can see the reports, but they will not render at all. In IE, I can render the reports but encounter missing entries in my parameterised drop downs, and cannot seem to export to any format, PDF/Excel etc. Anyone come across this behaviour before, and know if it's 'by design' or avoidable at all?     - Subreport goes to wrong folder I have a folder ISIT where I deploy my reports to. I then create a linked report to other folders, such as Sales, Production etc. I have made a report which has a subreport. When I navigate to the subreport (from the report in Sales), it is not the linked report that is opened, but the original one.     - OutOfMemory Exception I'm using RS2005 with the latest patches(ReportViewer = 8.0.50727.156). I have 6 groups in the rdl. The query is returning 11,000 rows and 300bytes which runs in about 10 seconds. Once the query has been resolved RS take another 30 seconds to return the results. When I run the report again or perform an interactive sort on a column I get the "System.OutOfMemoryException". I am not filtering any data in the rdl and all the columns in the query are being used.     - Unable to see reports in browser Hi, To test, I generated a few reports and I can go to http://servername/reports to see these reports. However, I have to log in (I'm using basic authentication in IIS 6.0 since this server will only be used for NetIQ internally.) as an administrator to view these reports. I'm not sure why other users are not able to see the reports in I.E 6.0. I tried to change site settings or subscription in Microsoft Reporting Service but it did not make any difference.     - (Select All) continued Hey All, I've found another problem related to everyone's select all hack which is using a union and an extra check. I have a simple Customers drop down and I want to display the (All Customers) option. So, I took Reddy's advice and tried this: WHERE (Customer IN (@Customer) or '(All Customers)' in(@Customer)) This works until you try to set '(All Customers)' as the non-queried default value. The worst part is that it works in the VS Preview mode, then does NOT work from the report server. Basically, it just ignores the default value. Anyone know why this might be the case?     - Is it possible to use sorting and grouping together? I'm working in VS2003 and building reports with SQL Reporting Services. My experience has been that when I set up a table to be sorted the sort is applied as expected, and when I specify grouping the data is grouped as expected, but when I specify both sorting and grouping, the sort specifications are utterly ignored. Example: If I set the table to sort on the ClientID field, the records appear in ClientID order. If INSTEAD of specifying a sort, I set the table to group on the ClientID field, the records are grouped by ClientID value, but the groups themselves are in no discernible order. If I specify BOTH sorting and grouping on the ClientID field, the records are again grouped by ClientID value, but the groups themselves are still in no discernible order.     - RS2000: 1.2mb rdl issues I am designing a 3 page report which displays information from a form submitted. The form displays numerous checkboxes and textboxes lined up in 2 major columns. I am using 6 table objects in order to align the various textboxes properly. Some of the table have 10-15 columns and many rows have merged cells, different heights, fonts, alignments, etc. I am developing on a WindowsServer2003 Virtual PC with 1.2gb RAM and plenty of disk space. VS 2003 is painstaking slow .. taking several seconds to complete any basic formatting task. The rdl has become quite large, although PDF rendering is still relatively quick (retrieving one row with 100+ columns to populate tables), although I'm still only 2/3 finished with design. Any suggestions (other than hardware upgrade) on how to speed up VS response while designing? Or is hardware the only solution?     - Jump to URL in ReportViewer- Underline not displaying Hello, I have a text box in a table that has its text-decoration property set to Underline. The textbox has its value set from a column in a dataset. I have also defined the following as its Jump to URL expression: ="http://" & Parameters!WebServerName.Value & "/Policy/Reports/AdvisorAccountPolicyStatus.aspx?asofdate=" & Parameters!dAsOfDate.Value & "&AdvId=" & Fields!ENCRYPTED_USER_ID.Value The second I define the Jump to URL expression and deploy the report, the Underline stops being displayed. If I remove the Jump to URL expression, the Underline is displayed. I am using the .Net ReportViewer control. I know that the HTML is being rendered properly for the text-decoration, but the reportviewer control refuses to display it.     - Sharepoint webparts I have looked at writing my own Sharepoint web part. We can potentially create the Reporting Services web part as a consumer of data from another web part. However, I don't see any way that I can trap a user selecting an item on a report and make that data available to another web part. The only options I see are to basically navigate to another report or url. Has anyone approached this subject or found a way to work around this?     - Reporting Services 2005 reports setup IÂ´m building some reports using RS 2005, but I'm having problems when opening them in excel, basically the problem is that the report does not automatically set he correct page setup(paper size and print quality), also the available selections for print quality are different from one machine to other one, so in some machines the reports open ok, but in other they do not, for example they are cut-off in the middle, or there are a lot of blank pages at the end of the report even resolving the common page break issue.     - Soft Page Breaks Hi In a previous post Bruce Johnson [MSFT] mentioned that soft page breaks could not be turned off in version 1 of reporting services but may be a feature version 2 (RS 2005?). See his reply below "Do note that HTML and Preview use soft page breaks to control the amount of data processed at any one time which in turn improves performance and usability. This feature cannot be turned off in version 1 but is on the list of potential features for version 2." Can anybody confirm if this is possible in RS 2005 and if not are there any workarounds. For your information I need to display a simple RS report rendered in HTML on one continuous page without soft page breaks. I am also displaying the report without the RS toolbar. The report is invoked as a URL action from another RS report. I understand that it is more efficient to use pages but I will only ever be displaying maximum 400 rows of data in a report. I would like to see it displayed on one page where the users will have to scroll down to view the data. I will also have interactive sorting enabled on the columns. I have also increased the height of the report to it's maximum of 85inch (report properties) as suggested in another post. Currently I have a report that is being rendered on one HTML page but displays soft page break lines. However when I sort the data it only displays one page.     - Integrated Security Problem Hi guys Issue, I have 1 SQL Server 2005 that runs RS. and a SQL Server 2000 that have a database I want to report from. On the Data Source for the report I need to use Windows Authentication. If I log on to the SQL Server 2005 as a windows domain user and run the report the report works fine. If I run it from any other computer I get the following error: An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'EMS.BRISSQL03'.     - MHTML Web Archive and Expand / Collapse Hi, When rendering a report into MHTML I get the images embedded in the file however I loose the expand / collapse functionality. Is it possible to render to MHTML with expand / collapse? The idea is the set up subscriptions to a file share.     - Error: Subreport could not be shown Hi, I've been searching everywhere to try and find the solution to my problem. I have a main report with a subreport. The first row renders the sub report just fine but for the rest of the rows it gives the error: Error: Subreport could not be shown.     - MHTML Subscription rendering problem Hi, I have created a basic report that is hosted on a Reporting Services 2000 Standard Edition box. We have applied SP2 plus a hotfix for the Authz errors that we were seeing on the box. So the version of the Report Server is: 8.00.1043.00. The problem is that the style details like the background color and bold text in the Report don't seem to be showing up in the right format when I create a Email Subscription for the report and choose the rendering format as Web Archive (MHTML).     - Report Viewer Control runs queries for parameter selection lists twice each time Has anyone experienced this problem when using Report Viewer Control on an ASP.NET 2.0 web page and displaying a Report Server report, that the queries that are used to populate parameter selection lists are executed twice each time. This is seen using SQL Profiler. Note that when the report is run from Visual Studio in the Preview pane, the procedures are only run once as expected. This only happens from the Web Viewer. The page that loads the viewer control is not running any code, i.e. the Viewer just loads the report that it is configured for at design time. All parameters have default values assigned.     - page header and footer disappears - known bug? Using SS2000, RS2000, VS2003. I can't tell you how frustrated I am in trying to solve this problem. I've posted several times but I get no responses. It's hard for me to believe that no one else has had this problem. The problem is that the page header and footer stop printing on a summary report for no apparent reason. After much trial and error I thought it had something to do with the detail row that I left in my summary report. I set hidden to true for the row. It worked for a few days as I finished the report and tested it in VS. However, one morning I came in and ran the report in VS and the page header and footer disappeared. I had copied the summary report from a detail report and then hid the detail row. At the time I didn't know what the problem was. I finally recreated the report from scratch and discovered that as soon as I hid the detail row the page header and footer disappeared. However, unhiding the detail row didn't bring the header and footer back. This morning I started from scratch again but this time I removed the detail row before I put any fields on the report. I put a few fields in the group by section for the totals, tested and everything was fine. I then added the report header and footer and put one text field in the report header, tested and it was okay. I put the date range parameters in the header, tested and okay. I then put a parameter called "RunBy" for who ran the report in the footer and tested and neither the header or footer showed up. I removed the field in the footer but the header didn't show up. I removed the footer but left the header and the header displayed. I added the footer back with the parameter and tested and neither the header or footer appeared. I removed the field in the footer but left the footer empty and neither the header or footer appeared in testing. I removed the footer and tested and the header showed up. I added the footer back and added just a text field and both the header and footer displayed on testing. I added a different parameter for execution time to the footer and tested and neither the header or footer displayed. Can anyone shed any light on what is going on? We've got a reporting services process that is to generate some PDF
files for printing. We have some images embedded into the report. The
images we are currently working with are TIFF images that are sized to
give us 300dpi.. Now we'd like our files coming out of Reporting
services to be 300dpi so that we can maintain the high quality for
printing.

The trouble is that the reports all seem to be set to 72dpi and the
printing is understandably degraded!

How/where do I go about setting the report up to render into the pdf
for 300dpi?

We have not yet upgraded to sql 2005, in case that matters.
