    - Parameter key/value list in the actual report? We are in need of a visualization of all parameters (about 16 of them) for our reports. (When a cutstomer prints a report, we need to have the parameters (mostly filterering input) values available) Is there a way if "looping" the Parameters Collection, creating a String or populate a table with the parameter/value pairs? We tried to create a string by looping the Report.Parameters object in the "Code" section, but it is not a collection so we failed there. Also tried to access the parameters "by index". Looping until we fails, but it seems you cant access the paremeters by index :( The solution we have is to create a table with a field for each parameter. But this is a non dynamic and non generic solution. A bit of worl work too for our 25+ reports with about 10-15 parameters each. Anyone out there have a solution for this problem? (win 2003 server(std)) 2.Accessing dev server via \\Main Domain\Administrator 3.SQL 2K (Std) SQL Reporting 1.Using SQL authentication for shared resource, rather win authentication. 2.Shared folder, access set to everyone. Current Situration 1.Have created 5 reports, each has a url within Domino Notes application. Click on anyone of them (assuming \\Main Domain\Administrator\) --> reports work ok. 2.Log-on as non-administrator --> click on url, enter site ok, but popup appears asking for authentication of user e.g. name, pwd & domain. Constraints 1.Development Box cannot be joined to main domain i.e. Non-Wins authentication 2.Host name e.g. http:\\wtdev01\reportserver --> dealt with WINS server, not host file ! Requirement Any user clicks on URL for the report, will open the report and be run without authentication issues. Tried 1.Custom Authentication (e.g. Form Authentication) - issue cannot use Standard version of SQL Server ! Needs to be Enterprise. Dead end. Any ideas.     - Reporting Service - Installation Error 25619 Hi I am quiet new to Reporting Service. I was installing SQL Server Reporting Service 120 days evaluation version on my machine. Mine is a Windows Erver 2003 Enterprise Edition with SQL Server 2000 installaed on it. I tried to install both Server and Client versions of Reporting Service on my machine. Befor installing Reporting Service I ensured that I ran the latest SQL Server 2000 Hotfix as described in MS Knowledge Base. Basically I am domain user having admin privileges. I ensured that ASP.NET is enabled and all pre-requisites are present. I selected Reporting Server to ru in default SERVICE ACCOUNT as I ran the hotfix. It went through fine till the end. At the end of the installation while configruing IIS I got an error Error: 25619. From internet I found that I need to enable ISAM_machineName account for this and also restart MS-DTC service. Actually this account is ENABLED for me. I checked that by getting into Computer Management - Local USers. Also I did restart of MS-DTC> In spite of that I am getting the same error. I even tried the instalaltion by logging in as local administrator. That also did not solve the problem. Any inputs or help please. If I do not run Report Service in SERVICE account(that is running the service in DOmaion User account), then I am not getting this error. I am stranded here.     - "String constants must end with a double quote" error Hi, I've created a bunch of reports locally on my machine, where they all run just fine, but when I try to deploy them to a server I run into some problems. I only have access to the server through a third party remote desktop application (NetOp), so I have to do the deployment by manually uploading the .rdl file in Report Manager. The reports uses MDX queries which I've had to change into concatenated strings to allow for parameters, but when I try to upload the files I only get the "BC30648 String constants must end with a double quote." error. If I remove the parameters, and the quotes around the whole query the files upload just fine. Additionally, I've tried uploading the files manually both on my own machine and a colleague's without getting this error. The reports also run fine on these two machines after the upload (and configuration of datasources). Below is a sample of the query in a report that will throw the error on the remote machine (for clarity this one doesn't use parameters): <Query> <DataSourceName>SullandGruppen</DataSourceName> <CommandText>="SELECT {[Measures].[Faktisk denne mnd]} ON COLUMNS, {[Dato].[All Dato].[2004].[January]} ON ROWS FROM Finanskube WHERE ([Avdeling].[Salg], [Avdelingsstruktur].[All Avdelingsstruktur].[3 Inntekter], [Firma].[Gjovik Auto])"</CommandText> <rd:UseGenericDesigner>true</rd:UseGenericDesigner> </Query> Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?     - "Install" reports on ReportServer? Hi! I have done a web page where the user can select data and then render reports. it works fine. The web page is done with asp.net and c#. I am working on a Installshield package for the whole Web page and the reports. I want to somehow include "deployed" reports to this package and put them in the reportserver db. I cannot just include the rdl-files because thay are worthless without deployment to the Reportserver. The only place I know where you can deploy a report to the server is from the Visual Studio.net report designer. Is it possible to place reports on the reportserver with some command?     - Conditional Formatting Loss from SQL RS to Excel When I export a SQL RS report to Excel, the conditional formatting is lost. Using the BOL example: =iif(Fields!Profit.Value < 0, "Red", "Black") works in SQL RS, but when exported to Excel, I get odd behavior...one column is red while the rest of the columns are black.     - Reporting Services install options opinions Hello, We have been using Reporting Services for a few months doing some prototyping and it has gone well enough that we are now being tasked with rolling out an implementation to the enterprise. Here is the hardware that I have to work with: 3 Web Server Cluster managed via Application Center 1 Active/Passive Sql Server Cluster (IIS Installed for XMLA) Attached to fiber array. So here is my dilema. Is it better to install the Reporting Services WebService on the web servers and have them all pointing to the database server or should I install the web servcies on the same box as the Database. In my mind it could work either way and may even keep the web servers cleaner to go with option 2. I see that the directions show how to install RS into the web farm as in my option 1 but before I went either way I thought I would ping the source and see what you all though.     - Missing Chart Image This has been brought up before, but I have not found an answer yet. So far, I have only been able to replicate this 'error' on one user's computer. I have a report that is launched in a frame and is displayed with the standard 'broken image' indicator (the red X). Consequently, none of the other drill downs work. As I just mentioned, I've only seen this happen on one user's computer but it is consistent - the report displays fine on all of the other PC's I've seen. We were able fix this by adding the website to the user's list of trusted sites in the Privacy tab of IE. This is not a viable solution as I cannot control how the users have IE configured. Now, to stop all of you pistoleers from jumping to the answer that I'm completely sick of, THERE IS NO UNDERSCORE IN THE NAME OF THE SERVER.     - Preventing automatic generation of report Is there some easy way to prevent a report from generating once the last non-defaulted parameter is selected. This behavior is driving everyone nuts. I have a whole series of reports where a user will select a company, and then select a month, which is defaulted to the previous month but can be changed. Because it is defaulted, the report runs as soon as a company is picked, and the user never gets the chance to change the default month.     - Using a proxy with the Report Server I am currently using a virtual directory to act as a proxy to talk to our report server that is behind our firewall. We are trying to use URL Access to bring up Sql Reporting on the internet but we only have the Standard Edition. We also don't want to have our Report server available to the outside with Anonymous Access turned on since it allows for direct browsing of the server directories. We've been able to get this to work using some address translation and some identify impersonation in the proxy code but it does not render the toolbar back (fyi - this is not using the SOAP API, we have an .aspx page in the virtual directory running as the proxy into the Report Server). As of now, I can use URL Access strings to talk to my proxy aspx and render the report back to the browser from my internal report server, but the toolbar does not come up.     - Rendering to PDF, bold Hi again, unfortunately I have to use ARIAL MS UNICODE font in my reports, because I can't use more than one format in 1 cell (normal/superscript/subscript). I'm using chemical formulas, for example SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>. Main problem is, that ARIAL MS UNICODE doesn't have BOLD. My question is, it will be possible (I already read that is know issue rendering bold to PDF) after installing new service pack, if rendered PDF will have BOLD characters even if font doesn't have BOLD. -- Ing. Hi,
I am trying to install reporting services on my webserver (hosted at an
ISP). My SQL database is on another server, not on the same network, not in
same domain. How do I enter the name of my SQL server instance during
installation? I have tried \\server IP\server name ...

What I want to do is have the reportserver, reportservertempdb on my sql
server at the office, the report manager on my webserver, the reports on my
webserver, and do development on a third PC in my office.... my understanding
is that this is one possible configuration, but I can't get it to see my SQL
Server instance with this set up.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!
