    - help!!...sp1 or sp2 After I install SP1 of SP2 for reporting services, I get the following error: The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.54'. The expected version is 'C.0.6.43'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) I am currently running RS enteprise edition with SQL server 2000 Standard edition.     - Report Parameter Display Problem Hi, I am developing several reports, I want to pass one parameter from Report1 to Report2 and also make the same parameter selectable on Report2. However I figured out that if I pass the parameter from Report1 to Report2 and Report2 has the same report parameter, then the parameter bar on the top of Report2 is not displayed. Moreover if I click the Report2 on the report folder then the Report2 parameter bar is displayed. How can I force Reporting Services to display the parameter bar on the Report2?     - URGENT: Error while executing the report Hi, Please Help........ Im having problem with report creation.I tried creating a report with the Stored Procedure and its gives me the following error.     - Printer Delivery Error Hi, I have installed the printer delivery sample extension on my report server. It works fine, reports print as required and there are no obvious errors in the log files however, the status shown against the subscription says "Done: 1 processed of 1 total; 1 errors." i.e. it thinks there was an error. This is annoying because the admin people who check the schedules say they have not worked even though they have printed the reports. I suspect this could be caused by a problem in the VB code where it returns an error code even though there was not an error, but not being a VB programmer, I don't know how to find let alone fix the problem. Even though there are no errors in the error logs, I did notice a line which says: Notification ...... completed. Success: False, Status: Report printed to ..... It says report printed, which it did, but I think the "Success: False" part might be where the problem lies. Other subscriptions say "Success: True". Any ideas on fixing this would be appreciated.     - Crystal ate my Report Manager Everything was fine until I had to uninstall and reinstall Crystal. After that, RS lost it's encryption key. I reset the connection properties and it said that the database version was old, so... I uninstalled, removed the databases and reinstalled (sucessfully). Then I redeployed all my projects/reports from VS. The first time I pulled up Report Manager, I could see all the folders, but when I tried to pull up reports, it couldn't find them (404). And now, I can't even get to the report manager. When I look at the IIS logs, it seems to be cycling with win 32 status of 302 0 0 I'm really puzzled because we've been using RS for a long time on this and other servers without problems.     - ActiveX renderer? Does anyone know of a (possibly, even probably 3rd party) report renderer ActiveX control? It would be like the ReportViewer control, but not .NET dependent. I realize that the existence of such a control would mean someone wrote an entirely new rendering engine in unmanaged code, so it's a long shot.     - hierarchies in a report model off a cube As I'm sure most people know, you can create a report model (for use in Report Builder) off a cube by using the "Generate Model" button on an SSAS datasource in Report Manager. However, none of the hierarchies in the cube (user defined or parent-child) are exposed in the resulting report model. All you get are the attributes. Does anybody have any workarounds or hacks they can suggest? (Any chance I could hack into the XML of the multidimensional report model manually and expose these hierarchies?) There are features of hierarchies (like ragged hierarchies or parent-child hierarchies) that I really need to expose in Report Builder.     - Moving the Tables Up Hi All, I have a List containing some textboxes and three (3) tables. I would like to know how to be sure the bottom-most table will not display if there is no data returned for it. It seems to work correctly in "Preview" but when I deploy (Start > Production) the report and view it in IE6, there is a space where the table would be. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!     - Using CLR Stored Procedures with Reporting Services I was able to create some T-SQL Stored Procedures, and call them from the Data tab in Reporting Services. All I did was type in the name of the stored procedure under the Data tab. This works great. I created a CLR Stored Procedure in Visual Studio by creating a database project, then a stored procedure. I click deploy, and I can see the clr stored procedure in SS Enterprise Studio. I can run the stored procedure in Enterprise Studio. I can also run the stored procedure from the test.sql in Visual Studio. When I enter the name of the CLR Stored Procedure in the Reporting Services data tab, I get the following error: The stored procedure 'StoredProcedure1 doesn't exist.     - Legend and Pie Values(Point Labels) - Poor Visibility I am using SSRS2000 and have 2 problems. 1. The values displayed in the legend are mostly hidden and are cut off mid word with '...' appended which makes it useless and most of the time the values are unreadable - can I correct this ? It doesn't seem to matter where I position the legend it will just never display in its entirety making it a pointless feature. 2. The Point labels on my Pie are often unreadable in smaller segments. I changed the position of the Point labels in Visual Studio 2003 which renders it exactly as I want with a line coming off the segment indicating the values. However, the report server chooses to ignore this for some reason and just renders the labels in an unreadable format on the pie itself. I am at my wits end with this product at the moment as it seems to make the slightest things unnecessarily difficult. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.     - How to handle linked report embedded on the web application? Is it possible to STOP the linked report opening in a NEW windows? I embedded the reporting service in my web application. It opens the reports in the report holder, however it opens a NEW windows for the linked (drill through) report. Can I code the linked report so that it only opens in the report holder in my application? Why is that when exporting report to Excel it opens a BLANK windows and when I close the Excel the BLANK windows stay? How can I tell what service pack I installed on the Reporting Services? I am using Sql 2000 server on a Windows 2003 Server and Sql 2000 Reporting Services Evaluation version is installed on a Windows XP workstation.     - Using report parameters as field names in a SELECT Hi, I am having a problem in Reporting Services 2005. I want to use report parameters as field names in a select statement, but the query just returns the value of the parameter. Ex. SELECT @pField1 FROM customers returns the actual string value of @pField1 I'm entering this query in the Generic Query Designer as the command text for my dataset. Is what I'm trying to do possible? The reason I'm trying to do this is, I have a report with a Matrix on it. For the Columns data, I'm using Branch/Division. For Rows, I have days of the month selected. Then for the data area, I need to select the data as per a filter entered by the user via a droplist of pre-determined values (in the Report Parameter). The problem is that for each possible value in the filter droplist, that's a different field in the DB table. So, for the report parameter, I have each different field name in the DB as the value for each different filter option. That way, when the Report Parameter gets it's value from the filter, the data fields would automatically update in the Matrix.     - How to build an expression for a textbox? Can I build an expression on a textbox with a "Sql Select" statement based on the dataset? There is a parameter user selected on the dropdown and it generates a dataset from the store procedure. This parameter is used on a subquery for this dataset in the store procedure and it will return with the records containing other parameter IDs. However I need to assign a record on a textbox and require to filter out the record with the same parameterID user selected in the dropdown. Thanks. Eg.     - What would cause a report to refresh ~ every 9 minutes. Looking in the IIS logs I found that when a report is opened in IE it refreshes or there are entries in the logs every 9 minutes. I tried to change the auto refresh on a report from 0 to 3600, redeployed the report and it still refreshes every 9 minutes. The reports are run from an ASP.NET 1.1 web page with a web control to view the reports. I looked at the web page and control and did not see anything that would affect the refresh.     - A solution: pop-up window/dopdownlist when clicking on an item I've been looking for a way to give the user of a report the choice between several actions when clicking on an item. A pop-up window or a drop-down-listbox with the different option, from which a user can choose would be great. I've created a solution for this (if MS has already provide something in RS 2005 you can stop reading here). My solution creates a menu that apears at the location of the mouse-click and that offers the user a list of options. When an option is selected an action is performd and the RS page is reloaded. The action in this example is: updating a table, but the example can easely be modified to make the RS page rederict to another URL. ------------ Report ------------ In the RS report the folowing code is inserted in the "jump to url"-property (where you want the menu to appear) ="javascript:void(window.open('http://ibissrv/beleidsinfo/DropDownList.aspx?Item=" & Fields!XXX.Value & "&DDL=RendaTypeStatus','_blank','titlebar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,location=no,status=no,toolbar=no,resizable=yes'))" This calls a asp.net page "dropdownlist" that takes two parameters: (1) "Item" identifies the itme you want to change (in this case the primary key of a table (2) "DDL" (DropDownList) is the name of the dropdownlist you want to make appear Note: if you only want to change the URL (and no update action) you migth use the first parameter as a parameter in the target URL The list with the window options: "titlebar=no,..." is important.     - Userrname reverts after name change We have a user that was entered into the domain incorrectly and added to reporting services with that name. The problem was corrected by changing the name in the domain and reporting services. The SID remains the same. Every day or so (I'm not sure exactly how often) the UserName in the Users table of the reporting services database reverts back to the old name. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?     - Datasource information retrieved from a database Hi everyone, I have an assembly deployed on my report server that contains a number of functions used by my reports. The assembly has full trust and all of the functions work fine except one. The purpose of this function is to query a database table for the correct connection string for the report datasource. The code that returns the connection string works correctly in a test windows app. When I run the report through report manager, I get the following error: Does this mean that a report server can only use the database where it stores its server information? This would be inconvenient and I would like to avoid it if possible. Also, I would prefer my assembly not to have full trust, and instead only have the permissions necessary to allow it to read from the database where the connection string information is stored. So far, I have found plenty of sample code describing the XML that I need to add to grant FileIOPermissions, but nothing on database-related permissions. Can anyone point me in the right direction? In MS Access we could specify a printer for a report so when the print button was clicked the report would automatically print to our special printer (or default to that printer).     - problem deploying report - can't connect to server? Hello, I am relatively new to reporting services. I was experimenting with some already developed reports on a workstation and trying to figure out how things work. The reports run fine, and I can deploy them from the solution folder where the reports exist. Then I tried creating my own report in my own solution folder. I was able to create a basic report with a paramenter and run it in the IDE. But when I tried to deploy it, I got an error message that the service could not connect to the server. Is this like asp/aspx where you need a virtual directory or something like that in IIS? What do I need to do to deploy my test report from my new solution folder?     - Excel Drill Down not showing all details In my report, I have one group and details. The group has two rows, with the 2nd row's visibility toggled by one of the textboxes in the first row. The detail row is also toggled by the texbox in the top group row. (the second row of the group has the titles above the detail row). Anyways, when this report is run, all of the details show as expected when you drill down. However, when you export this report to excel and drill down, only the second group row appears.     - Blank pages due to hidden columns please help! I have a report that has hidden columns based on the year. (If it is Mar--I only show J-F-M) But potentially I can have all 12 months. Because I am only showing J-F-M right now, the rest of the year is hidden but when I export to PDF the report is still accounting for those columns even though they are not shown, with blank space.
