    - Repeat on Every Page - For Headers Using SSRS 2005: I created a text box in my report header, which references a text box in my report body: =ReportItems!textbox88.Value In my report body, hidden textbox88 contains my data: =Format(Parameters!StartDate.Value, "dd MMM yy HH:mm:ss") This all works great, except for the fact that textbox88 only exists on the first page, so the header only has a value on the first page.     - RS on SQL Server 2005 Express I have a ASP.NET web app on a dedicated Eindows Server 2003 with SQL Server 2000 and RS. I need to move it to a new dedicated server that will have Windows Server 2003 Web Edition with SQL Server 2005 Express with RS. The scaled down version of RS is fine for the application except - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365166.aspx indicates "Report data sources must be SQL Server relational databases that run locally in SQL Server Express." All of the data for my reports come from a remote server via stored procedures. Is there any way that I can still use the data from the remote server?     - Matrix Report I have a report that I need to have a count of quantity for the last three months(ie; May, June, July), Current MTD quantity, current week qty, 13 week average qty, etc. I am able to come up with the data that needs to be displayed but it is only able to work when I create new dataset for each quantity total. This works fine when I put each dataset into a serperate matrix on the page with the other matrix's and run it for only 1 item. The problem I am having is that I want the users to be able to run it for multiple items.     - Export to Excel Problem When I try to export a report to Excel I get the following message: "Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site.     - How to print reports programmatically? Hi, Our case is that we're making a system (win form) based on Sql Server 2005 (incl. Reporting Services 2005) and .Net 2.0. We want to add a "Print" button to our win form, whose job is to print a report based on user input. We want this printing to happen on a printer connected to the client machine, and without any print-dialogs poping up. Some of the reports must also fit into predefined forms already on the paper (so we need the text on the report to be on the exact same places each time). I've seen different suggestions; printing EMF, printing using the webcontol in .Net og an Acrobat Reader plugin... What is the best way to do this? Any experiences?     - Problem with Page break and Visibility expression Hi, I am using sql server 2005 sp1 reporting services. Currently creating a report, which contains several sub-reports held in separate rectangles. The rectangles need page breaks to be displayed after the rectangle. I have checked the â??Insert After Rectangleâ?? page break attribute on the General tab. The problem is I want the page breaks on the rectangle to work when I set the visibility attribute to false (this allows the rectangle to display). I am setting the visibility using an expression and the text in the rectangle displays properly, but the page breaks do not work. Can anybody shed any light on this? Thanks.     - Web Archive (MHTML) image rendering issue hi, I am trying to export a report in web archive (MHTML) format through report manager application (MSRS 2000 + SP1). The report data is getting exported properly but the images are NOT. What could be the problem? Am I missing any IE settings? If I try to re-export the same report again then the images shows up. Images gets rendered properly when I save the file locally and then view it. The problem comes only while first time export and opening it directly in IE.     - reporting problem Hi I have a quick question that I'm wondering about. My Cube contains a parent-child dimension. When I use a Cube Browser to view the results, I have no problems to treat ich level of my parent child dimenssion as attribiut. But in reporting services my parent child dimenssion doesn't work as well as in cube browser. Moreover all levels are treat as one and the data is loading to one column.     - textbox keep together problem In the report desing form, I add a list control. Inside the list control, I add customer id, name, addresses, etc., these approximately occupy half page. then I add last field that is a note about the customer. The note is a text field. The list is group on customer id and page break at end. I found if the note length more than half page and less than one page, the note will totally displayed in the second page, this means the first page for the customer only has half page content (id, name, address, etc.) the rest half page is blank, then there is a note in te next page. This is not what I want. I want the note always starts from the first page, if too long, then continue to next page. I download a project InvoiceMaker form http://www.gotreportviewer.com/ . I modified the customer name, address, city textboxes' multilines property to true, then add 20 lines names, 20 lines of addtresses and 40 lines of cities. The project got same problem.     - Multi-Value Parameters I am using two parameters for a report, both of which are multi-value. The default value for both parameters are set to From Query and points to the appropriate query that returns all of the available values for that field. My problem is that no values are being selected for the second parameter when the report is run. All of the values are selected for the first parameter as they should be based on the default value I set for the first parameter. However, no values are selected by default for the second parameter. The user has to select which values they choose to use for the second parameter. I don't understand why the default value is working for the first parameter but not the second.     - RS Setup We have a two node clustered setup with couple of instances on each node. I am trying to setup a reporting services on one of the nodes. For testing, we did IIS install on the same machine. Used configuration tool and setup reporting database on one of the sql instances. The install didn't report any errors. but now the problems is, 1. I created a report using VS business Intelligence tool and tried to deploy it to report server -- but its failing. I get an error message .. A connection could not be made to the report server http://servername/ReportServer. ; Additional Information: The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable ( Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer). There are virtual directories 'Reportserver' and 'Reports' under the IIS main folder. 2. Even when I try to do http://servername/Reports, I get an error -- The request failed HTTP status 400: Bad request. I can see the page redirected before dispalying this message to http://servername/reports/pages/folder.aspx Any help is appreciated. We have a strong Group policy settings in place at work on all these servers. All the services are running under the same domain account except for ASP.NET service. Thanks BVR.     - CLR Procedure not beeing seen by Reporting Services I have written a CLR stored procedure and loaded it up into SQL... I can run from there but when I reference it from Reporting Services, I get an error saying that the stored procedure does not exist. IT DOES!!! There was a post in this group where the answer was to have the Command Type set to Text and use EXEC... The challenge with that solution is passing parameters doesn't seem to work this way.     - Grand Total I am having a hard time figuring out how to total a column. If I have January Febuary March Type1 10 4 3 Type2 4 8 2 Type3 1 9 1 I want a total for each month, NOT each type. I have tried right clicking on Type and choosing subtotal but that only gives me 10, if I try to change the expression to a Sum, I get an error that aggregates can't live in groups. I have read that I should add a textbox and enter an expression. I have tried that too and got closer but it seems the only scope that is actually allowed (dispite what BOL says) is the dataset, which does give me the total for the whole matix, but I only want each column totaled. I have tried to replace DataSet1 in the expression with the name of the Month group, but that errors too. Am I just blind, this shouldn't be this difficult, right?     - ReportViewer, Impersonate Form, Counot execute Hello, I have a ReportViewer in a web page. I am testing on my local machine. The OS is windows XP and RS is 2005. The report works well if I set web site as windows authentication. When I set the authentication as Forms with Impersonate enabled as <identity impersonate="true" userName=username password=password/>, I always receive the following error message when running a report: Execution 'r1lwfve0ipkpmu551sd1kjz1' cannot be found The userName is a local user on my machine. Even I add the userName to local administrators group, the report still has the same error. If I change the userName to my own account, a domain account, the report will run fine.     - Time Zone Sanity Check Working in SSRS2005 I've been asked to create some simple reports that use t-sql to generate a couple of tables. Easy, me thinks... The concern is that dates in the tables are supposedly stored in UTC, and MUST be displayed in local time. Even if I do a datediff() to find the UTC offset to local time (or find a t-sql ToLocalTime API), isn't that calculating the local time of the SQL server?     - Get user data in sub query Let me preface this by saying that am relatively new to SQL. I have a database that is updated every10 to 15 seconds with broadcasts from our customer. These broadcasts come from 2 distinct points in their operation. The first point - 39 - tells me what to build and ship to them. The second point - 105 - tells me when they have used my product on the line. Every thing is controlled by a serial number. So, for example, at 8 AM they will send a broadcast saying that serial number 1234 is at point 39 (my cue to build and ship the part), then about 3 hours later I will get a broadcast from point 105 that serial number 1234 has been built (my cue that my parts have been consumed). In the intervening 3 hours, there will have been a bunch of broadcasts through each point. Each broadcast is writted to a single table with the following fields: ProcessDate - The date/time stamp that the broadcast was received SerialNumber - The serial number referenced by the broadcast ReportingPoint - The point that generated the broadcast (either 39 or 105) OK, so here is the query I want to build: Whenever the query is run, it should prompt the user for a date and time, then find the serial number of the closest broadcast from 105 to that date and time. Then it should use that serial number to find out the date/time that unit passed through 39. Then it should return a list of everything that has passed through 39 between that time and the current time. I have a query that does all of this, but it doesn't ask the user for a date and time, it just finds the most recent serial number broadcast and goes from there. I tried putting an @UserDate parameter in the sub query, but it generates an error saying you can't do that.     - graphs abilities to grow or shrink I would love to have my graphs dynamically to be grown or shrinked. Though, no property (like can grow/can shrink) is being shown in both the standard graphs and dundas add-on. Does somebody have some custom code or a proper workaround to have axes to be dynamically grown or shrinked? A workaround might be to count the number of fields on the axis. I figured out that I have to to it via MDX because it is a little bit more complex than only summing the values up. So now I need to know how I find the root element to shows me all other members. My problem is twofold the vertical scroll bar doesn't allow you to see the bottom of the report.     - Unable to view AdventureWorks sample reports in Report Manager Have installed SQL 2005 complete with Reporting Services on a single box. Everything is installed and appears to work OK except when I go the Report Manager and select AdventureWorks Sample Reports and then select any of the Reports I get the following error message:- An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Query execution failed for data set 'SalesEmps'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand) Invalid object name 'HumanResources.Employee'. After implementing the custom security for Report server I am getting
this error when I try to login to the Reporting Services through SQL
Management Studio.

Error: Client found response content type of '', but expected
'text/xml'.
The request failed with an empty response.

Does anyone have any solution for this. Please let me know if you do.

Hi All,

I found the cause and resolution for this error. I thought of sharing
it here.

After implementing the forms authentication, you will have to login to
the Reporting services in the Management Studio using forms
authentication itself. Otherwise the user is likely to get the error
mentioned below.
