    - Packaging reports as a product? I've written an application that generates a couple of stored procs and views, and installs them into a DB. I also have a series of reports in Reporting Services that pull data from those views. Its easy enough for me to distribute the .exe for the app that generates SPs and views, but how do I distribute the reports without giving the installer access to them?     - Data Processing Extensions - Parameters ? Hi, I am submitting a report to be run via sending the reportname and some parameters via the RS WebService. Behind this I have a DPE. This all works fine when there are no parameters. when I do pass params though, I have a problem.     - Accessing RSS data from another application I want to write an application that prints an address label based on the information displayed in an IE browser running an RSS report. I am unable to determine how to get to the data section of the page.     - Unable To Add A New Role Assignment I've been having more or less a good run with SQL Reporting Services but today I began getting the "Permissions granted to user MACHINE\IUSR_MACHINE are insufficient for performing this operation" error when my users tried accessing their reports After lots of web research, I thought I was on the right track and was resetting my RS virtual directory permissions and then attempting to add the IUSR account to the Browser Role in RS via the New Role Assignment page...but all that gives me is an Internal Error page (rsInternalError) I can't figure my way past this, so 1) Does anyone have an answer? ...and 2) If the answer is to uninstal/reinstall RS, can anyone point me to enough documentation so I can safely save all the report work I've done in the last 2 months?     - Displaying Html content from a Rich Text Control We are working on a web site that is using a number of standard ASP.NET controls, and one third-party Rich Text Control ("RTC"). We are using the third-party control to capture excel worksheets, word tables, and Visio diagrams. The application is saving the data from the RTC control into a text field in a SQL Server 2000 database. The data is saved as HTML. We have a business requirement to produce a number of reports in .PDF format. As part of this requirement, the reports must render the data captured by the RTC control in the exact same manner that the RTC control renders the data in the web application. Does anyone know if Reporting Services has a control that can display HTML content?     - Sending multiple emails? A "typical" report consists of a query and a grid showing the data. What I have, is a query that returns a recordset where each row represents the data for a report that is to be emailed to specific people for that row. Just as an example, lets say that you have a helpdesk application. Every 10 minutes the sql reporting scheduler queries the database to get a recordset of all tickets that haven't been confirmed. So if it returns 3 rows, you would want to send out 3 copies of the same "report" with row-dependent info such as... "Hello <Persons Name>, This is to let you know that we received your request on <day_of_request> at <time_of_request>" etc. Can someone give me an idea how to do this? Also, for things like this we would like to have some way to mark off that the data has been processed by the report service. In many of our tables we have a "IsPending" or "Processed" bit field that is set after emails are distributed (in our current system.... trying to move to sql reporting). Any help?     - Failure to create subscriptions My problem is as follows. I have created a report without no params. I am also using stored credentials. I am also in the right groups to be able to create subscriptions... I can manually create snapshots of the report and the report is no linked report. Still when I try to creat a subscription a get the error message that says: creds must be stored, user defined params must be defined... or the linked report cant be found.     - Foxpro connectivity I have developed a report in VisualStudio that uses a FoxPro .DBF as a datasource. It works fine in my development environment using a UNC name in the connection: Provider=VFPOLEDB.1;Data Source=\\server-name\share-name\path-name;Collating Sequence=MACHINE However, when I deploy it to my web server hosting RptSrv I get the following: An error has occurred during report processing.     - Multi Page Report Hi All, I have two tables in a SQL 2000 database. One table contains a few text fields and the other contains any overflow data from the original table. I am required to print a one page report with the data from the first table and then if there are any data in the overflow table, to automatically print a second page containing the data from the second table. Page 2 of the report doesn't look anything like page 1. It's layout is different and it only contains the data from the second table. These text fields (in the overflow) may be a max of 10K.     - Line chart, line goes to 0 when data missing In a line chart, where data is missing, the line goes from the preceding or next point to zero. This can result in displaying incorrect information to the user. Example: Display sales over past two years. We have not measured sales last year until May. And for this year, we have only measured up to September. For the missing months, there are no rows in the dataset. I.e., time span in dataset (number of rows) is May 2003 to September 2004, one row per month. However, last year line starts February with value of 0. This is false information. We did not have 0 sales in Feb 2003. We don't know how much sales we had. Also, current year sales end at Oct 2004 with value of 0. This is also false information. Everything works great except, when creating report links (or any objects names) that contain international caracters, it fails. I have tried using straight caracters and html escape codes (ie Ã? for Ã? ). Since the Webservice "encodes" the ampersand, it fails.     - Ideal Format for Embedded Image - Rendering to .pdf I have seen some discussion on this, but have been unable to glean a solution from the existing threads. My problem is that when I embed my company logo into my reports, it looks ok in Visual Studio, but when I export to .pdf, it is blocky and distorted. My graphics guy has put the image into ten different formats with different resolutions, but they all render the same way. What is the perfect format and resolution for image rendering to .pdf? He designed the logo and can put it in whatever format I need, I just don't know what to tell him. I found something on Image Device Information Settings, that lists 96 dpi as the best, but we tried that with the same results. It also said something about the tif format, but when I tried to import the .tif file, .tif was not listed as an image format in the wizard. And yes, I have upgraded to SP1.     - KeepTogether doesn't work as supposed to Hello, I am making a report with two rows in each grouping. I want those two rows kept together at the end of the page and therefore the KeepTogether property is set to True. This works perfect for output to screen, but when the report is exported to PDF files the rows are split on several pages. The size of the form is set to 29.7cm x 21cm (A4) with 1cm margin all around. Any ideas how to get the PDF file with the two rows kept together. Any help appreciated. When I design a graph with the following inputs: x - time y - upper limit (4 - constant); lower limit (2 - constant); metric (values) 3,3,8,8,1,1 I use a line format so the curve goes flat (3), then up (8) and then down (1). I use a boolean condition to distingvish what is above upperlimit and what is below lower limit: = iif(metric_y > 4 or metric_y < 2, "Red", "Cyan") the result of this is that the line is red when the y>4 or y<2, otherwise it is cyan. BUT - THE COLOR OF THE CURVE STARTS ON y=3...the color starts being red even the metric is above or below the constant.     - rskeymgmt missing We installed RS, then upgraded to SP1 a while ago and everything is working fine. Now, I'd like to backup the encryption keys and I notice that rskeymgmt.exe isn't present on the server. Looked in \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn, and then searched all local disks. Is this the symptom of problem with the installation, and how should I fix it?     - Report Server Not Working After Setup After my third desinstallation/installation of RS, I still get the caution icon that I would have to manually start the reporter server. I learned to do this with rsactivate. When I look at Services the Report Server service is Started. When I try to verify that Report Server is working with http://<servername>/ReportServer I get the following error message from the browser Server Error in '/ReportServer' Application. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- The resource cannot be found.     - Installation on Multiple Virtual Servers Hi, I have an installation of Reporting Service on my default virtual Server in IIS, which works fine. However, I would like the same instance of ReportServer to also be available from my other virtual servers in IIS. For this purpose, I saved the "Reports" & "ReportServer" virtual directories configurations as files from the default website. Then I restored those virtual directories into my other virtual servers. However... when I try to access the same via the other virtual servers it gives me an error saying that: -------------------------- "The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database" -------------------------- On some virtual servers, the "Reports" directory seems to work, but the "ReportServer" directory gives me this error. On others nothing seems to work! How can I get reporting services running on multiple virtual servers, although they all use the same reportserver database?!??     - Maintain Report State I have a matrix report where the user can drill down into a hierarchy to view data for a particular product. The report also includes a parameter list allowing the user to change the selected product. The problem with this approach is that the user may drill to a specific branch and then decide to switch products. At that point the report refreshes and collapses back to the root node, because I have defined the report to hide all groups on first entry. Given that I am using Report Manager with no custom front end, does anyone know of a good strategy to maintain state so that I can retain which groups are expanded and collapsed for a particular user between instances of the report?     - Setup Problems - rsReportServerNotActivated On a Win2K Pro laptop (not a server farm but connected to a LAN), I installed SQLServer2K Dev (after I removed my Personal Edition), then applied SP3a, then Reporting Service Dev. Everything seemed to go fine till the last message where there was a yellow caution icon and it said "The report server installation has not been activated. Please refer to the Reporting Services online help for guidance in activating a report server installation." Then I went to BOL and then to the command prompt and did these things: rsactivate -c "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config" rsactivate -m <servername> Failure initializing remote NT Service: The service is already activated Then, I restarted IIS. So, it would seem RS should have been activated. Hi,

I've a problem of configurating a Scatter Chart. I've did online search to
resolve the problem but unsuccessful. Will appreciate if any can give me a
hand. Thanks.

Below are some of the things that I've tried:
- Set the Value tab with the required X and Y data
- Set the Category group with the Y data
- Preview the chart and overall the chart looks good

Problem : Unable to see the X axis labels.

No matter how i change the configuration on the X-axis but I'm still
unable to see the X axis labels. What have I gone wrong?
