I have the evaluation copy and will more than likely need to buy the product
if it doesn't look like 2005 features serve me any better.

Anybody know how I buy a copy and get off this 120 eval version?

thanks,
-Trish

1. Search for BUY SQL 2000 on the web, and if you can find a vendor who has
SQL 2k instock you can buy it from them..
2. You can buy SQL 2005 from MS directly, then ask for the fullfillment to
be SQL 2000k ( but you must buy sql 2005)

I'm not sure if I fully understand your question, but here's some answers :)

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2000/downloads/default.mspx
has a link to download the 120 day trial version at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d20ba6e1-f44c-4781-a6bb-f60e02dc1335&displaylang=en

It's a 270MB download, though.

Here's a link to the SQL 2000 Reporting Services trial:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=BA517C01-2E2F-4BC7-84AF-149B7637F807&displaylang=en

It's only 130MB, which might be better if you already have a SQL 2000
environment set up.

Two issues here. One is how to get the non-trial media. With RS 2000 since
it was released on a different schedule you have to get the media
separately. I don't really have an answer for that. For RS 2005 it comes
with the SQL Server 2005 media.

An important thing to note, as far as licensing is concerned you are
licensing SQL Server. You are not licensing or buying RS separately. RS is
part of SQL Server.

If you are just getting into RS then I strongly recommend using RS 2005.
Lots of new features (end user sorting, multi-select parameters, date
picker, etc) AND it is substantially faster.
