    - Problem Deploying Reports when using SSL Here is my current setup. I have Report Services sp1 installed on a Windows 2000 machine with SQL Server 2000. We have successfully configured RS to produce reports over the internet via SSL. The actual viewing of the report over the internet works great. However, in Visual Studio I receive the following error when trying to deploy the reports... "The underlying connection was closed. Could not establish trust relationship with remote server" The only work around I have found so far is to modify the rsreportserver.config file and change secureconnectionlevel= from 2 to 0. Then I am able to deploy the reports and do not receive this message. Because SSL is a must, I then have to change the secureconnectionlevel= back to 2. Users externally are accessing the report server via http://FQDN/reportserver. I had gone into the rswebapplication.config file and changed <ReportServerUrl>http://server/reportserver<ReportServerUrl> to <ReportServerUrl>http://FQDN/reportserver<ReportServerUrl> but no luck. My certificate name uses the FQDN as the site name. My question is why I am not able to deploy my reports when the SSL is turned on? I hope this makes sense and I am sure I left something out.     - Jump to URL's I have a report that needs to "jump" to 2 URL's at the same time. I also need them to open in a second and third window leaving the first open to the orginal report.     - 2003 Server SP1 broke Reporting Services Installation of WS2003SP1 broke reporting services SP2Beta. I now get "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."     - Jump to Report Not Functioning Correctly Hi all, I'm having a problem with a series of reports I'm developing that allow the user to design their own reports. They involve passing parameters (and sometimes not passing parameters) between many different reports. The issue I have is this: I have an opening page with no parameters. When I jump to the next report (using Jump to Report in Properties -> Navigation tab) it begins to load the next report, but the parameter bar is missing (not hidden) and the report itself doesn't load (although the report title is displayed in the top frame). If I use "Jump To URL", these issues appear to be less of a problem but passing parameters is more difficult. A couple of questions for you: 1) Has anyone else experienced this issue? 2) How can I pass parameters in a Jump to URL string, based on either report parameters or report datasets? I've had a look around on the forums and have found some similar problems, which is why I ended up looking at the Jump to URL option. I haven't found anyone with the same issue though.     - Dynamic Placement of Textboxes Is there a way to dynamically place textboxes within report headers based on a change in size of the report? My report consists of one table and four matrices, each of which are configured to page break at their end. Some are wider than others. I have horizontally aligned the textboxes within the header, but of course as I go to each page, they're then out of center. I don't have the ability to set the "Location" of the object with an expression. I was hoping there was a better way to dynamically center objects at run time.     - Installing developer edition of RS Greetings all! I've had an Evaluation Edition for all those 120 days :). Today it broke down and told me that my Evaluation edition has expired. I decided to install Developer Edition and got the following. 1) A pleasant, but strange thing: it said to me that because of sharepoint services, i'll have to initialize report server manually, but at the end of setup, report server ran succesfully by itself (perhaps because i've done all the steps of troubleshooting earlier, for my Evaluation Edition) 2) All my parameters have russian propmpt. When I upload an rdl with russian parameter prompt into the report manager, it starts showing '????????' instead of the propmt itself, and it also spoils values of hidden parameters. But!!!! when I had Evalution Edition - everything was OK. What happened?!!! What it the solution? to install again Evalution Edition? Earlier we used a temporary "solution" where we took correct russian values from the correct report server database and wrote them to the spoiled one. But still ... some of rdl's were not spoiled and are uploaded quite properly. I can't guess what's the problem with the '?????' rdl's, why do they differ.     - HELP NEEDED - URGENT Hi All, I am having a report with a table and 3 graphs. When I render the report into the HTML3.2 format I am getting only 2 graphs. On refreshing the page, sometimes I am not getting the other two graphs also. I haven't set hidden property of the graph. My report server runs on windows server 2003 machine. and i am accessing the reports only through its IP not by name. My Report is working in the following scenario i am having two datasets. the 3rd graph is coming out of the second dataset and the table and other 2 graphs are coming out of the first dataset.The first dataset executes an SP and which will clear the contents of the table and the insert the values in to it as per the business requirement. The second dataset is query which will fetch the data from that same table. Till today this report has worked fine for me. I have given "no data found " caption for the NoRows property of the 3rd graph. On consecutive refreshing i am getting this caption sometimes and sometimes i am also able to see the graph.     - ToolBar display through WebFarm - rewriting URL I have Reporting services working fine for all cases but one. When putting the ReportServer in a WebFarm, the SSL from external is only until the Web Farm interface, traffic is then redirected using the same URL HTTPS://<site name> but the Web Servers do not have SSL running on them. Reporting Services is rewriting the HTTPS://<site name>/ReportServer as HTTP://<site name>/ReportServer which is causing failures. This is happening for the Toolbar and for the charting image references. How can I get Reporting Services to not rewrite the URL. I have tried everything.     - One Stored Procedure For Multiple Table Hi, I have a report consisting of a chart and 4 tables. I have written a stored procedure to return different (single) result depending on the input parameter. E.g. @Param is 1 for chart, 2 for table 1 and so forth. The issue here is, although with different dataset created, I am not able to set the chart or tables to pass in their respective value when executing the stored procedure. My best bet now is to duplicate the stored procedure for each chart and tables and name them differently. I hope this is not the only way to go about achieving what i need.     - Excel report displays empty subreports Hi everybody, I'm having a problem with excel reports. My report is designed in the following: * Header report * Subreport * and, Master report The master report contains a header and many subreports. Based on what subreport users select, a master report with a header and only selected subreports are displayed to the users. This is working fine when rendering reports in pdf and html. But in excel output, non selected subreports appear as empty in the excel report.     - SP2 Beta does not fix Excel visibility problems. With RS SP1, setting the Hidden attribute of a table, or row, or matrix, or rectangle, etc works as expected when rendered using html, but when rendered to excel, these objects could not be hidden. This seems to be a well known problem. I tried SP2 Beta Version 8.00.902.00 and found that excel rendering has become completely unstable with respect to setting the hidden attribute. My tests have indicated the following: * Pre SP2 Excel would never honor the hidden attribute. Now it sometimes sorta does. * I cant figure out the pattern of what happens when I set tables to hidden using formulas. It works sometimes, and sometimes not. * I set the hidden attribute of a simple rectangle in response to a formula based on a parameter and it seems to work consistantly. For example: <Hidden>=iif(Parameters!Color.value.indexof("green")>=0 ,false,true) * I tried two rectangles, one after the other and put a table in each. If I try to hide the top rectangle, and show the bottom one it works. If I try to show the top one, and hide the bottom one, then space is taken up for the top table, and some(!?) of its grid lines are displayed, but no data, and the bottom rectangle/table is not displayed. yikes. Now I've just got to figure out how to uninstall the beta...I wonder if I can just rerun sp1, or maybe just replace the excelrendering dlls with the ones from sp1...     - Unstable Permissions? Hello, I've been using Report Services for several months with no problems, suddenly I started getting 401 unauthorized errors with no changes on my part. The strange part is that it works fine for an hour or two, then quits. If I restart IIS the problem goes away, but there are several web applications on the same server and would prefer to not restart it several times a day. Any ideas? As we retrieve the reports we save them to the local disk. Before retrieving the next report, we need to know how many pages were rendered in the current report.     - Query very slow when executed using Reporting Services Hello, I have a dataset that uses a stored procedure as the data source. In the query analyzer, it takes just over 2 seconds to execute. However, in the execute query mode in the Visual Studio reports designer, the query takes several minutes. The report, when run from the server, also takes a very long time to complete. There are only 4 parameters, two varchar(2) and two datetime fields. The particular query I am running returns 12 rows. There are no filters applied to the report, not that would affect the query in the VS reports designer. Does anybody have any ideas on how to improve the performance? I am having serious issues with RS. i have installed the SP1 and I am able to launch the main reports page, i.e. http://myserver/Reports and it re-directs to http://myserver/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx. Here i can see all the various options etc. Now I created a sample connection as per the \MSSQL\Reporting Services\Samples\Reports\Readme.htm file. The problem is I am unable to upload any RDL file. It tries to do it, and then comes back with this message: "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. " I also tried using the rs -i PublishSampleReports.rss -s http://gacorwks7047a/reportserver -v parentFolder="Sample Reports" method but that too times out on me. "The operation has timed-out. The operation has timed-out. The operation has timed-out. The operation has timed-out. The operation has timed-out." The other wierd part is that from VS .net2003 when i open a Report wizard and i can create new shared data source OK (for example local- pubs using windows authentication), but then when i create the new report and select the same shared data source i get "A connection cannot be made to the database.     - Converting RS 2000 Project to RS 2005 I finally got a virtual machine setup with Server 2003, SQL 2005 Feb 2005 CTP, and VS 2005 Feb 2005 CTP. Backed up the database that I used in VS 2003 for my RS 2000 project and restored it in SQL 2005 (no issues with that). Then I opened up the RS 2000 project in VS 2005 and it brought up a wizard to convert the solution into VS 2005 format. Once that was complete the layout view for the report looked fine and all of the datasets were pulling back the proper data. Whenever I try to preview or build the solution the following error is displayed: Cannot call Invoke or BeginInvoke on a control until the window handle has been created. Not sure what this means or what I need to do to fix it. I have verified that RS 2005 is up and running correctly by running some of the AdventureWorks samples in the Report Manager.     - Incomplete Exports Hello, I hope that someone will be able to help us with a perplexing issue. When generating a reporting in either Excel or PDF every 5th report or so, we will get a corrupt / damaged file. The issue is repeatable but not reproducible. The same report will fail a random number of times in a row, but will then execute correctly. It appears that the corrupt file is really truncated. The reports are big, but we don't have any very long columns or many rows. However, they do contain quite a few charts. The final file size in excel is ~1.4 MBs. We have been unable to locate any errors in the logs. The web site behaves like it successfully created the report. I've watched the memory usage and it does not appear to be memory bound or disk bound. I'm hoping for any suggestions on avenues to try or finding someone with a similar problem.     - Help with complex summary of data please Hi, I'm fairly new to RS and am looking for pointers to help me with the following situation. I have a system that tracks the activity of our warehouse and drivers. Basically, it logs when an order is entered and when it leaves the warehouse. There are various types of orders and seven warehouses. I have a view which gives me all the detail I need including the TimeToSend of each order (the difference between order time and send time) all in one record per order. I have to create a report that summarises all of this data on a daily basis by providing the following: At the entire company level and then broken down by each warehouse for each day: - #orders of TypeA where TimeToSend < X minutes with a % of Total orders - #orders of TypeA where TimeToSend > X and < Y minutes with a % of Total orders - #orders of TypeA where TimeToSend >Y minutes with a % of Total orders - AVG TimeToSend for the day for TypeA orders - #orders of TypeB where TimeToSend < X minutes with a % of Total orders - #orders of TypeB where TimeToSend > X and < Y minutes with a % of Total orders - #orders of TypeB where TimeToSend >Y minutes with a % of Total orders - AVG TimeToSend for the day for TypeB orders I have achieved the above using two datasets and two tables in my report aligned next to each other and sorted so the warehouses appear next to each other. I have been asked to add additional summary data for each warehouse. Such as: - Count of orders of TypeC - Best AVG TimeToSend of all days (i.e. best day ever) Now, I can get these new data items from more datasets and add more tables to the report but am I going about this the right way. Ideally, having more than one dataset per table would be great. Or if I could link the tables somehow. Should I look at trying to return all the data in one dataset? Is that even possible?
