    - System.OutOfMemoryException I am running a large financial statement report (200,000 detail records which are not all shown, just aggregated into the group structure), and I am getting a System.OutOfMemoryException error on both my Dev box and Production box.     - Dependant parameters Hi I've got several reports where i'm using parameters that are dependant on each other, to create them i used the two data set approach where i used the parameter from the first dataset in the second data set, so i have for example a Regional unit data set and a Business Unit data set that takes the regional unit as a parameter. this works fine for normal reporting how ever when i try and set a subscription schedule for these reports i go to set the parameters using report manager and it doesn't give me the business unit parameter drop down, it's as if it's not running the dataset query that generates this, is there anyway to get it to work. Some times it does refresh after i have selected the regional unit it then populates the business unit drop down but there are several other dependant parameters on these reports and they will not propigate, it only allows one refresh, this is kind of annoying as i want to be able to subscribe to these reports with various different parameter combinations so that i can get the reports i want emailed to me.     - Multiple models with same name I want to deploy the same model more than once but pointing to different databases, and give different users access to each one. Is it possible for me to do this? I realise I can deploy my models to any folder I like but where does the Report Builder pickup its list of models from? Is there any reason not to do this in principle?     - Running batches of reports Hi, we are making an interesting use of report services...we are actually using it to generate programming specification for Informatica Mappings from our mapping spreadsheets..LOL!! Anyway, we have a couple of hundre mapping specifications and we want to generate the couple of hundred PDFs associated with those mappings....I recall reading in my hitchhikers guide how to do this but that book is about 1,500 miles away from me at the moment. Would anyone be kind enough to please share the command I need to enter at the command line to run a report with specific parameters and spit the output into a specific PDF file also specified as a parameter.     - Displaying ADO MDX query results in reports I'm working on an application to display sales data using sql server 2000 reporting services. The data is in an MS Analysis Services cube, so I'm using MDX queries in the data set. The queries all have a similar format of the form: SELECT {[Measures].Members} ON COLUMNS, { MyDimension.members} ON ROWS FROM MyCube where the items in the COLUMNS clause are allways the same and MyDimension might be SalesBranch, ProductCategory, etc. When Reporting services works out the fields for the returned data set it appears to be flattening out the MyDimension structure and using the dimension level names for field names. eg <Fields> <Field Name="Manufacturer"> <DataField>[Manufacturer_Model].[Manu].[MEMBER_CAPTION]</DataField> <rd:TypeName>System.String</rd:TypeName> </Field> <Field Name="Measures_Oe_Id"> <DataField>[Measures].[Oe Id]</DataField> <rd:TypeName>System.Object</rd:TypeName> </Field> <Field Name="Measures_Oe_Realval_A"> <DataField>[Measures].[Oe Realval A]</DataField> <rd:TypeName>System.Object</rd:TypeName> </Field> </Fields> In the report layout I can select these fields and display them as expected. However the drawback is that since dimension level names are encoded into report field names I have to have a separate report for each dimension I want to put on the ROWS. ie one .RDL file for SalesBranch, one for ProductCategory etc. If this was SQL it would not be a problem because in the SQL SELECT statement the column names could be fixed using "SELECT colname AS othercolname ", but, being new to MDX, I can't find how to do this.     - access problem on Linked server Hi, Iâ??m developing repots (SQL server 2005) and have an access problem. Suppose I want to retrieve data from 2 tables on 2 different servers (server A and B) and JOIN them in my dataset in the report. In my dataset I use a dataSource towards server A with â??Windows Integrated securityâ?? and use a Linked Server connection to server B. like: serverA.database.table JOIN [serverB].database.table on â?¦. I understand that in Linked server security I could use an SQL account (on server B with read rights) in order to authenticate the connection. But because server B is in â??Windows security modeâ?? I canâ??t create SQL accounts on server B. In Linked server security, Iâ??ve even tried with windows account and Impersonate but no luck; I get access denied on retrieving data from Server B.     - Datepicker - mm/dd problem My application has been upgraded to RS2005 and I've started to use the new and long awaited datepicker function. Then I set the dates as parm's on a report it works nicely the first time. However, when I choose a date for the second time it converts the date so that dd is read as mm and vise versa. Ultimately I get a "date invalid" error if I choose af day greater then "12". I thought it had to do with the language on the report but changing that didn't help.     - "Error while loading code module" I know I know, you think why don't I read the help or other 1000 posts about this issue... I did, all of them! BTW, the problem doesn't happen if I reference a system.web assembly (i.e GAC one)... I created a simple custom assembly to have 3 functions (get string, return string, nothing except string manipulation in them). I compiled, put the dll in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Report Designer . added reference to it in report->report properties. First issue: after adding reference , the "class" box does not get populated with anything as I expected it to. so I left it blank for now (I expect some type of intellisense when it works correctly no?) Any way, that is not the issue. I thin right click the report and do "build". I get the error: "[rsErrorLoadingCodeModule] Error while loading code module: 'reportingLib.reportingLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'reportingLib.reportingLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified." what else can I do? it has nothing to do with security right? and nothing to do with the server cause all I do is build it in the client side.     - Rendering via ReportServer missing lines,via ReportManager is comp I have a report which has missing lines when rendered via a ReportServer URL. When the same report is rendered using Report Manager, it is not missing any lines. It's not missing any lines when previewed in Visual Studio, nor when run in Debug mode. When the same report, via ReportServer, is exported to CSV and PDF, it is not missing lines. The lines are missing at a page break. No table is used in the report, only Fields placed within Lists. How do we control or limit the number of users that can use our cubes and reports? We would like to control user numbers by a licence arrangement - either concurrent or named - but fear once a user has our developments installed they only need to increase their MS licences and away they go... I am using the OLE DB provider for Teradata to make the connection, since ODBC does not seem to work for me. Since the current version of Teradata stored procs has issues returning a recordset, for now I am just writing the SQL query as text directly in the generic query designer in the Data tab. The query runs fine with hard coded values in place of the parameters and I am happy with the correct recordset data returned from Teradata. However when I try to run it with parameters, a dialogue box with an entry for ? will pop up and prompt me for values, but when I enter them I get a null answerset. I am required to use unnamed parameters using a ? due to the OLE DB provider. I have tried passing just one parameter as a string and leaving the rest of the parameters hard coded. I have also tried variations of assigning parameters in the DataSource (...) parameters tab and also the Report Parameters.. no avail! I have a feeling perhaps I am not using the correct syntax to call the parameters? Basically my query looks like : SELECT * FROM tblReport WHERE branch = ? AND qtr_date = ? AND flag = ?     - Hidden Item Still Taking Space on the Report when viewed Hi everyone, I have a report where I have a rectangle witha bunch of lists and textboxes on it which I hide on a certain case. The problem is, its still taking space on the report page when the report is generated. It doesn't appear, but I get a big empty space.... Is there any way to let the other items move up a little bit so I don't have a big gap on my report? Note: I can't add it to another table since I have lists on the rectangle...     - Reporting Services: Suppressing blank reports?? Hello, I've got reporting services (SQL 2000) sending out daily reports by email to a group of recipients. The reports show all new records added to a table since the last report. Unfortunately these reports go out even when there are no new records added... it's just a blank report.     - URL Parameter Caching Bug in SRS 2005? Hello all, I have had no luck searching for a solution to this problem on the internet/groups, perhaps somebody here could help me. It seems that SRS is caching the last used parameter when one is omitted when you request a FORMAT in the first query. For example here are the query strings used: In this scenario, the parameters are accepted properly, where C is omitted so it equals NULL. http://.../SQLReportServer?Report&rs:Command=Render&rc:Parameters=true&A=1&B=2&C=3&rs:ClearSession=true http://.../SQLReportServer?Report&rs:Command=Render&rc:Parameters=true&A=1&B=2&rs:ClearSession=true In this scenario, the parameters are incorrect.     - Excel Export Report Footer Problem I have a fairly basic report containing 1 table, a header and a footer. The table is quite large and goes over many tables. When I export to Excel format the report renders fine except that the table goes in to the footer space and therefore the table content and the footer overwrite each other.     - Table Regions having a Matrix in a Column .. I am using Table Regions having placed a matrix control in one of its columns. The layout of the report is such that I have to stuck with this approach. Now when we try to export this report to EXCEL, Region Data fails to get into the resulting Excel sheet.     - Cannot create a connection to data source 'dataSource1'. Hello, I'm running SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 on a server an gave permissions to an account. On the client machine I can access Reporting Services on server/reports. I can see all the reports and I can create a new one by using the Report Builder. However, when I click on a report to see the report itself I get the following error: An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'dataSource1'. For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors I never created a datasource1, so that is strange. But when I look into table ConfigurationInfo in the ReportServer database I see multiple instances of Datasource1. My question is: - who can help me solving this error?     - Error when execute DB stored procedure in custom code Hi: I write a custom code to execute the oracle stored procedure, it's work fine in design time. When I upload the report to Report Server and execute it, it's not work. I put a textbox on my report. At the design time, the value is "Finished" that returned from the custom code. But when I upload it to server and run it via browser, the textbox shows "#Error".     - how to render HTML fields in report Hi all, I´ve a table with a memo field which contains HTML-Code (tables, links, images, etc) and a report that prints these fields. When the report prints this field, the HTML-content is rendered as text, e.g. "<table><tr><td><p>text</p>.....". Is there _any_ way that rs can render the HTML fields?? (Or that I prerender the HTML-content somehow so that rs generates the correct output as a browser would do, or whatever...?)     - dependant height of rectangle object Hi all, a rectangle is fine for grouping objects (and for rendering objects correctly I saw...but that´s another story ;-), but it always has it´s predefined height of the design time (at least as minimum height). If I have a rec with 5 lines and it´s say 5cm high and 3 lines are not visible (because of hidden-expressions I use in some cases), the rec still uses 5cm height (which I don´t want). I want the report to continue as if the rec would only have 3 lines and not 5, so in my case it shall have 3cm and not 5cm. My problem also is, that the rec somtimes includes more subreports and more fields, so I can´t set the hidden-expression on the whole rec. Is there any way to set the rec height dependant on the visibility of the content? Maybe set the rec.height with code at runtime, or so...? I didn´t find a workaround.... Thanks for any tips! I need to set up the security on the Reporting Services such that user can view the reports ONLY through a ReportViewer control on a asp.net web page ie not allow to navigate all other folders or areas in the Report Manager. Reporting services is installed on a stand alone server (not belong to any domain, no AD set up) running on Windows 2003 server. Currently I configured the "Report Manager" and "ReportServer" web site to allow annonyous access. However some users know how to bypass the web application and directly enter the IP address/reports of the stand alone server to view all the reports. The asp.net page has built-in security to filter out the reports listed on the page based on the user login and password. This web application is also hosted at the stand alone server and is connected to a remote Sql server. The web application is using the sql security.     - Hidden Subreport Executes Query Using SRS 2000. I have a subreport on my report that is only shown under certain conditions. I have handled this successfully with the Hidden property. I read somewhere that the hidden subreport would not execute, but if I profile SQL server when I run the report the SQL is being executed.
