First of all, I am creating a table from the toolbar menu and then moving the data fields to the reports. I need to insert a line in between rows of data in the detils section.     - Exchange Report Pack We have a Two Server Deployment: CRM, Reporting Services and IIS on one Server and our SQL Server 2000 Backend on another Server - which happends to be a Named Instance. Because we have a Named Instance as our SQL Server backend.......In order to get Reporting Services to work correctly, we had temporarily disable the EDW (Environmental Diagnostics Wizard) in CRM using a registry key change in order for the the 'canned' CRM Reports to work against our SQL Named Instance (see this link for more info on this http://blogs.msdn.com/ukcrm/archive/2006/08/17/704229.aspx) Well... now I am attempting to get the reports in the Exchange Report Pack for Reporting Servives to work. What I did so far was: Turned off EDW in the registry on the CRM Server, installed the Exchange Report Pack, attached the Sample Databases to my CRM named Instance, created an ODBC connection to the sample Exchange database, and uiploaded the Reports from the Report Pack and configured them to use the ODBC connection to the Sample database. Now when I try and run any of the Exchange Reports, I get this error: An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help Cannot create a connection to data source 'SSW Exchange Reporter'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help Login failed for user '(null)'.     - Login Failed - RS2000 Report Manager I have the following message from Report Manager and not sure how to solve it - the machine name is part of the RSExec Role in ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB so not sure if it is network permissions or still permissions within the databases thanks The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database.     - Always Display Subreport (including background color) I have tried adding a second dataset so that my subreport always returns a result, but this has not worked yet. I need a subreport to always shown because the row is in Gainsboro background color and when there is no data, half the row is Gainsboro and half is White. Any ideas?     - Error in Report Manager Sometimes my users get an error using the Calendar control for a date parameter on a report, via the Report manager. It seems to happen more frequent if the user presses the back key while using the Calendar control. The error is: Line 383: Error 'resultfield.id' is null or not an object >From time to time we get an error from the report manager as well: It is: Cannot execute code from a freed script.     - integrate google map into reporting services report Google Maps has an API described at http://www.google.com/apis/maps/ . It would be nice to include the map within the report. I've achieved to pass coordinates to the map though the map will start in a new window. To achieve an integrated map I need to paste some javascript code as described within http://www.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/ .     - Hiding Column headers while grouping Hello everyone! I'm new to this group, so please bear with me :-) I'm trying to make a report with the Report Designer and i'm almost done. My boss just asked me if I could hide the column headers, while the column was in "group mode". To clearify things a little, let me make a small example. "PO" | "Created Date" + 130 While PO is collapsed, he wants the "Created Date" header text to be hidden. I've looked every where I could think. I've been looking at the "Visibility" property set; Hidden and ToggleItem. ToggleItem does have any thing I can pick. Can I make a IIF sentence that will look at the value of a specific textbox?     - Multi-value string report parameter Hi all, I've designed a report against an Oracle table : Select col1, col2, , coln From tbl where key IN (:par). The report parameter is defined as String and multi-value is true. When i preview the report and select 1 value for the parameter, the request send to the DB is Select col1, col2, , coln From tbl where key IN ('value'). But when i select more values, the request is Select col1, col2, , coln From tbl where key IN (N'value1', N'value2'). This notation is valid for MS SQLServer but not for Oracle.     - Keep matrix subtotal with group Hello All, I have a matrix in a report with two levels of grouping for the rows. This first level is by product name - effectively producing one row for each product. The next level of grouping is based on a property of each product, definied by an integer. If that integer is not equal to 0, the product belongs in group A, and if that integer is equal to 0, that product belongs in group B. Now, here's where I'm running into trouble: I want to print all of the group A products on one page, and all of the group B products on a second page. I want a subtotal for each group, and then a grand total that adds those subtotals together. Thus, I have defined a subtotal for each group, and they function correctly (in terms of generating the correct number). However, my grand total appears on a third page, as it seems that setting the page break property for my grouping on Class A or B inserts an extra page break, even when "Page break at start is set" instead of "Page break at end". So how do I get the grand total to appear on the second page? In summary, here's what I have: Page 1: Group A: Product A-1 Product A-2... Subtotal: Group A Page 2: Group B: Product B-1 Product B-2... Subtotal: Group B Page 3: Grand Total And here's what I want: Page 1: Group A: Product A-1 Product A-2... Subtotal: Group A Page 2: Group B: Product B-1 Product B-2...     - Report Server publish error 400 I have been working my way through the Report Server tutorials. All went well until I got to Lesson 7 (ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v9/MS.SQLSVR.v9.en/sqltut9/html/d313b097-a04c-4e26-b2d9-9a0b421aa61d.htm#seeAlsoSection). There it described how to publish a report. When I do that step, I get "The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request." I am using "http://localhost/reportserver" for the TargetServerURL, and this URL does exist (I can open it in IE). There I see the two subdirectories, Tutorial and Data Sources, but neither has anything in them. Can you point me in the right direction to get this to work? Thanks.     - ReportViewer fails to print on first attempt only I am using ReportViewer control on a Windows form (WinXP/SQL2005/VB.NET). The report renders correctly in the ReportViewer as expected. The problem I am having is that when the Print button is clicked the first time the Print dialog box appears and I click the Print button; another window appears showing that the correct number of pages are being sent to the printer - but nothing prints. There is nothing in the print queue. I am then returned to the Windows form with the ReportViewer control. Each subsequent cycle through the printing process works correctly and produces the expected printed output. This behavior is consistent beginning with each new instance of the form.     - Report-Sub Report in Visual Studio 2005 Hi everybody, I have a problem on connecting subreports with reports. I create the sub report, bind data to it, and filter the data (in the query) with something like Case_Id = @ParamCaseID. I create the parameter ParamCaseID in the subreport and then I go to the primary report and set the property parameters of the subreport to ParamCaseID and value to (=Fields!PrimaryCaseID.Value). I run the application to see the report and although the report is showing I get the error "Subreport could not be shown" in the place where the subreport was supposed to appear.     - recent record which has caused the trigger fired hi well I know that the subject of my question is a little ambiguous but let me explain. we have a database with some tables suppose that our table is sth like this: t1(a,b,c,d) we have a trigger on update of column (a) and in our trigger we have to have the value of (a) to put this value in b,c and d. so we need to know that which recordof table causes the trigger fires because we need the value of (a) in exactly recent record. if I am not wrong we can do this by NEW and OLD keywork in mysql for example we can say: update t1 set b=new.a update t1 set b=old.a but I couldn't find sth similar to this keyword in sql server I have found some thing relating to IDENTITY in sql server but it causes our tables get larger and the logic of triggers get harder. so would you please help me to find any way to solve my problem. thanks for your attention.     - Can't close IDE, modal dialog, anyone know what's causing this? I've only seen this happen when using the report designer, and I think only when working with Dundas chart properties. I don't have a modal dialog open, or at least not that I can find. I use alt-esc to loop through the dialogs on the OS, nothing. Microsoft has an entry in support, it says it usually happens when I try to shut down and have left a modal dialog open....only there is no dialog to close. I end up ending the IDE process tree. Anyone else getting this and/or know the cause? Microsoft Visual Studio cannot shut down because a modal dialog is active. Close the active dialog and try again.     - Cannot export to Excel from Report Manager When attempting to export to Excel from report manager we get the error "Internet Explorer cannot download Format=Ecels from reports.server" Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." This only happens when the person accessing reports manager is not a local administrator. Local administrator privileges make the problem go away. What is report manager trying to access that I need to give my user access to? I cannot make the user a local admin.     - BI - Development Studio - Report designer Hi, My question is a little more regarding SQL Server 2005 Edition & Reporting. Since this newsgroup is about Reporting, I guess someone will be able to answer with a 100% certitude. We are a small company and the SQL Server 2005 - Standard Edition is a little too expensive, WorkGroup Edition is more what we look as pricing. We only have 20 users and not doing anything tricky. Refering to the product comparison chart on Microsoft's website, it seems that the BI - Development Studio provided with WorkGroup Edition is only including "Report Designer" .. Does that mean that I will be able with that version to create all the reports I want and deploy them to the report server ? That is all I want to do with the BI-DevStudio anyway. But I want to make sure that all reporting features of Standard Ed. are in WorkGroup Ed. too. What else can be done with the BI - Development Studio in the Standard that the WorkGroup Edition don't provide ? Thanks for helping. I don't know the product very well.     - Export to pdf with Sub Reports and Blank Pages Hi, I need help big-time! I'm trying to export a report with 2 sub-reports to pdf format. Using: RS2005 Adobe 7.0, Font is Courier-New and it's installed on the Server. There are no headers or footers in any of the three reports. The report looks fine on the "Preview Tab", for the main and the two sub reports. The .pdf prints the following: the main report shows up correctly (an un-wanted blank page) the 1st sub-report (another un-wanted blank page) the 2nd sub-report (another un-wanted blank page) How do I get rid of these blank pages? All three reports are set to the following: Body is set to 8.5 X 11 Margins - Top/Bottom/Left/Right are all set to Zero. All rectangeles,lists, or Tables are set to 8.5 X 10.875 OR Less. I've made sure that there are no "Page Break" textboxes checked in any of the 3 reports. Asked this same question before but haven't received an answer from 10/6/06 and still stuck!!!     - FoxPro and parameters I need to create a report based on a FoxPro table and I need to let the user select a value to filter the records. I have no problem doing this with SQL databases, but when I try using the FoxPro table I get an errors saying a parameter was not provided. I created the parameter like I would for a SQL database (Report | Report Parameters). This is just a string data type. In my SQL for the dataset is: SELECT fld1, fld2, fld3 FROM database WHERE fld4=?. If I use the usual @fld4, RS doesn't like it.     - [rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The Value expression for the textbox Hey All, I am hoping that I will get a speedy response to this problem. I am working in RS in SQL 2005. I have a report that has 6 parameters, 3 of these are multivalue. They work fine, with the following exception: I'm trying to set an expression in a text box on the report, to display back to the users which parameters they selected prior to viewing the report. This works fine for non-multivalue parameters. But, with the multivalue parameters, I keep getting an error about the '&' not being valid. The report builds fine, it only errors when I try to preview the report. Here's the expression in my textbox: ="Report Parameters Entered:" & vbCrLf & "Retailer: " & Parameters!Retailer.Value & vbCrLf & "Month/Year: " & Parameters!Month.Value & "/" & Parameters!Year.Value & vbCrLf & "Store(s): " & Parameters!StoreID.Value & vbCrLf & "Super Categories: " & Parameters!SuperCategory.Value & vbCrLf & "Managed Indicator: " & Parameters!Managed.Value If I change the parameters in this to .IsMultiValue (for the ones that are multivalue), the report runs fine. But, the actual values selected are not returned. What shows up in the report is 'True' for each of the multivalue parameters (because they are multivalue and I'm using the IsMultiValue?).     - Outer Join Not Working I'm working with SQL Reporting Services 2005. I'm trying to list opportunities that do not have a future open activity. Below is my SQL statement. StateCodes of 0 are open opportunities and open activities SELECT Opportunity.name FROM Activity RIGHT OUTER JOIN Opportunity ON Activity.RegardingObjectId = Opportunity.opportunityid WHERE (Activity.StateCode = 0) AND (Activity.ScheduledStart > { fn NOW() }) AND (Opportunity.statecode = 0) It is only returning matched records when I run the query in the Data tab.     - Change Reporting Services server name I renamed the computer name for the server running both SQL Server and Reporting Services. I used sp_dropserver and sp_addserver to correct the servername for SQL Server, but now I cannot use the Management Studio to connect to the Reporting Server. I am running SQL 2005.     - SSRS 2005, Font Sizing issue I have a web based dynamic reporting services solution running on a 2005 Sql box. Running SSRS 2005. The reports are generated on the fly from a broad template. One of the parameters I have is 'fontSize' and in the font size part of the textboxes within the report I have a reference to =parameters!fontSize.Value. I set this up in a SSRS 2000 report and it worked. Now with SSRS 2005 it sort of works in the way that the fontSize parameter works when viewed through the report Manager, but when it is served through the http page I have built, the fontsize doesn't change from the default.     - SSRS 2005 fontsize problem I have a web based dynamic reporting services solution running on a 2005 Sql box. Running SSRS 2005. The reports are generated on the fly from a broad template. One of the parameters I have is 'fontSize' and in the font size part of the textboxes within the report I have a reference to =parameters!fontSize.Value. I set this up in a SSRS 2000 report and it worked. Now with SSRS 2005 it sort of works in the way that the fontSize parameter works when viewed through the report Manager, but when it is served through the http page I have built, the fontsize doesn't change from the default.     - Contextual Relationship mappings Is there a 'best practice' method within BID to constrain a relationship path when different contexts are available? For example: tbl.Revenues provides data for both tbl.Rentals and tbl.Sales, and aggregates/totals are provided for both Rentals and Sales (via relationships to tbl.Revenues from each of the two other tables).     - Display issue of table embedded within a matrix I have a report that is accessible via Reporting Services web interface (SQL Server 2000 SP4, RS SP2, IIS 6.0) which contains a table within a cell of a matrix. Here is how it looks like: | Column Group A ------------------------------------------- Row Group A | Table When printed or exported, the report generates without any issues, but when displayed in the web interface of RS, the table is vertically aligned to the bottom. The cell which contains the table has no vertical alignment properties when using VS.Net 2003. Each cell within the table is vertically aligned to the top as well as all the matrix cells. I have tried to manually add the vertical alignment property to the cell which contains the table, but without any success. Has anybody else encountered this issue?     - Conditional format mandatory but empty cell in matrix Dear all, I would like to colour a cell in a matrix when it doesn't contain a value and another field is =1 (meaning that the value is mandatory). Basic data model, and how it should look in the matrix: Field | v Item --> Value The field contains a bit for mandatory. I have forced to show ALL fields and ALL items on the matrix, by initializing the database: (work-around because full outer joins on both field and item didn't seem to work) - For each field and at least one item in the shown group: empty record - For each item for one field I supplied one value So, now I would like to colour the cells which contain empty record or there is no record for the combination field/item and when field is mandatory. I have a subscription that exports reports to XLS and PDF format and uses the
company name as the filename (ex. ABC & Company, Inc.). Using 2005, if the
company name has any special characters in the name (for example, an
ampersand or comma), the export for that file fails. This was not a problem
in 2000.

Is there a setting that will allow these special characters?
