    - Passing datetime parameter to stored procedure I want to pass a date parameter to stored procedure which is expecting smalldatetime. I need to subtract a number of days from the current time and pass it to the stored procedure. I tried DateAdd("d", -1, Now()). I can display the the result in a text field on the report but when passing it to the stored procedure to retrieve data I get and error that it is in bad format.     - Machine name works and FQDN fails Short version: http://machinename/reports works as does http://machinename/reportserver http://FQDN/reports repeatedly requests authentication and then fails. Longer version: Everything was working perfectly. I attempted to change to Sharepoint integrated mode from native (after giving up on this - different thread) I switched back to native mode. Everything works when I access using machine name, but the FQDN now causes a repeated request for authentication (does not matter which server or desktop the request comes from or which user account) the request fails. This worked before my adventure into sharepoint integration without a request for authentication, but I can't figure out what I changed (I broke it and can't fix it) - Please help. -- Fredrick A.     - Reporting Services 2000 ReportServer DB Transaction Log Size I'm currently running Reporting Services on SQL 2000 and I'm running into an issue with the reportserver database. The reportserver transaction log is growing to an unmanageable size (>5GB) while the reportsever database itself is quite small (<100MB). During installation I used the MS recommended installation procedure and set the recovery model for the reportserver DB to "full" (see below)... "Backing Up the Report Server Databases Because a report server is a stateless server, all application data is stored in the reportserver and reportservertempdb databases that run on a SQL Server Database Engine instance. You can backup the reportserver and reportservertempdb databases using one of the supported methods for backing up SQL Server databases. Recommendations that are specific to the report server databases include the following: Use the full recovery model to backup the reportserver database. Use the simple recovery model to backup the reportservertempdb database." ...     - RS Configuration Manager - Windows Service Identity - Error We have a SQL Server 2005 Enterprise RTM release that is running Reporting Services on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2 that has an error in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager - Windows Service Identity. The ASP .NET Service Account is blank and both drop downs (Report Server and Report Manager) are not filled out. The ASP .NET Service Account is grayed out and cannot be edited and when we try to fill out the dropdowns we get the error: ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: A virtual directory must first be created before performing this operation. at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.SetWebServiceIdentity(String applicationPool) The directories are there and Report Server and Report Manager have been running for some time and continues to run at this time.     - Beginners questions about Reporting Services Admin I'm looking at the Properties tab of a report In the Report Manager. If I go into 'New Role Assignment', I see a 'Group or user name:' textbox. Do I understand this correctly?: Any name I enter for a new role must match an existing SQL Server user or group?     - Need some help with expressions I'm pretty much a rookie with this so I'm wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction here.. Here's what I'm using now: =MonthName(Month(NOW())-1) & ", " & YEAR(NOW()) which displays 'April, 2007' What I'm trying to do is provide the month,year of the previous month. For example, we're in May now, and the formula above is working but once we get to Jan of 2008, the code above will return December, "2008" instead of December, 2007.     - Print Layout Bug: Wrong number of pages listed I've been experiencing this odd bug. I'm running LocalReports, btw. Anyhow, so a report gets displayed in the viewer and the page navigation will display "1 of 2" and the right arrow is activated so I can navigate to the second page. However, if I click on the "Print Layout" button to see the print preview, the page navigation displays "1 of 1" and the I cannot navigate to the second page. Oddly enough, because I know there is a second page, if I type in "2" and hit enter, then I get to the second page and the page navigation finally recognizes there is more than one page. Oddly enough, if I print while in the "Print Layout" view, I get both pages. So what gives? Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a known bug?     - sql CASE equivlanet in srs expressions? Is there a sql equivalent to CASE in srs expressions? I have a field which can return a value of 1-10, and based the the value I want to display some text. I know how to do the case in sql, but would prefer to do it in SRS if possible as I have about 12 fields like this and don't want sql to get messy. Thoughts?     - WHERE x IN(@y)...containing 20+ values as a parameter selected at report runtime crashes report We are attempting to create a report with a dataset that contains an IN List in the where clause (Seel SQL Below). The query runs perfectly in the query design mode. However, trying to preview the report will never return results. During the testing we've found that our "IN" List Where clause will work if a user selects up to 19 values in the @y parameter request. Life is good at this point. Upon selecting 20 values, sql server cpu spikes to 100% and the report will NOT return results. Eventually, we are forced to kill the session id. Again, the query will run perfectly in the query design mode reguardless the number of values. So there is something buggy about running the report preview mode and passing 20+ parameter values to the "IN" List where clause. I'm at a loss and could use any help.     - Create SRS Reports against Sharepoint Hello, everyone! Being new to SRS and Sharepoint, I was wondering: Are there any walkthroughs or guides that can show me how to create an SRS Report that displays data from a Sharepoint site? For example, if I have a list on some site, and I want to run a report in SRS to simply display the data from that list so it can be sent out via Subscription, or printed in some specific fashion, how do I make the connection to the Sharepoint database for that report?     - VB App calling report URL to render in Excel Hello, We are having a VB application and we call the reports using URL and passing parameters to render in Excel Format. This opens an IE browser minimised and pop-up with a File Download Dialog box. User would like to avoid this File Download Dialog and always "Open" the Excel file directly. From a different computer in my basement connected via peer to peer network I am able to connect to SQL Server installed in the computer upstairs byusing a SQL Server login. I am now trying to add a web reference to the reporting services web services from my computer in the basement by typing in URL:http:/servername/reportserver/reportservice2005.asmx?wsdl but I get the following error... "The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. " What am I doing wrong? I am new to this so it is very likely that I am doing something wrong. My main objective is to try and call the RS web services from the computer in the basement.     - Placement of Subreport I am using RS2005. Two different datasources are being used. I can not figure out how to place the subreport so that it falls "next to" the appropriate table. The subreports is grouped to app. job center. Not all job centers have subreport. If I put everything in a list, the tables repeat; if I put subreport in a grouped row, the table contents extend depending on how large the subrept is, so there may be tons of white space in the tables (no good).     - Setting the Parameter Location Hi, Does any one know if there is a way to set the location of the parameter on stand alone SRS reporting? I have numerous reports with numerous parameters and the parameters are all crunched together when rendered to the screen. At times they are hard to read and use the space provided inefficiently.     - SSRS 2005 - collapse/expand I have created a report which contains a header group with one field. There are fields in the details row too. The header group field is set to collapse and expand. On running the report when the group header field is expanded, then the details rows become visible. The problem is: not sure why when the expand button i.e the plus sign is clicked, although the rows become visible, the gap remains if the rows are collapsed. So basically the collapse and expand on the header group field only makes the row to be visible/invisible. they do not collapse so the gap always remains for the rows. Hope you know what I mean.     - DateParameters in ReportViewer control When viewing reports that use date parameters in the ReportViewer control, the control is generating JavaScript errors, which is preventing the calendar dropdown from showing. I have tested the report locally and there are no issues with the report. I can access the report via the SQL Server Reporting Services webpage when deploying the report and the date picker works correctly from there. The problem only appears when the report is viewed from within a ReportViewer control. When clicking on the calendar icon I get a message box popping up saying â??A Runtime Error Has Occurred: Object is requiredâ??. When I debug this using visual studio, the code is failing in a function called GetObjectPosition.     - From Data Source View -> Report I've recently started working with Visual Studio (BIDS part) with a simple 2 table setup in SQL. Since I'm used to working with MS Access and want to re-create the reports I've got in there I had to build some views in VS that would do some pre-calculation work. Now I've 'enhanced' the original 2 tables with 3 more views that have been linked with the original 2 tables and have logical primary keys (in 'Analysis Services'). Now when I want to build a report based on the 3 views I simply do not 'see' them (in 'Report Server Project'). When I go to 'Report Server Project' I still only see the 2 tables as defined in SQL, but I am missing my 3 additional views.     - Databse Image Not Showing in Footer on second page of Hi, I'm getting images from a varbinary column in a datatable. I get the image to dispaly in the report by using the conversion =System.Convert.ToBase64String(ReportItems!img.value) in a hidden text field in the body of the report and then in the image in the footer the value is set to =System.Convert.FromBase64String(ReportItems!txtimg.value). Other setting for the image are: Source: Database MIMEType: image/jpg The image shows up nicely on the first page of the report, but not on the second (albeit after a sub report has executed) - all I get is the little red x.     - Report Parameters not updating I have a very strange problem on one out of 15 winXP boxes running IE7 to view Reporting Services 2005 reports. Report Parameters don't seem to work from this one machine when logged in as one user. If that user is logged onto other machines, no problem. Same thing if other users are logged on - everything is fine. If this one user is logged into this one computer, parameters simply don't update. I made a simple report to isolate this problem - it has no data sources and only one parameter which is echoed back to the report. Even this parameter doesn't update. I've followed all instructions found on MSDN/Blogs and I am able to create a reports library within MOSS. The problem I encounter is when I attempt to deploy my reports to the reports library.     - RS Connectivity Issue Hello, Environmnet: Reporting Services 2005 SP2 running on a VM box. SQL Server 2005 ENT SP2 running as a named instance on a 2003 cluster Both servers live on the same network therefore all ports are opened. user account running SQL Server RS sevices is sysadmin on the SLQ instace. When attempting to connect via the "Configure Report Server" tool, I am receiving the following error condion. ---------------------------------------------------------------- A connection to the computer cannot be established Details: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005(E_ACCESSDENIED) ---------------------------------------------------------------- I have tested connectivity from the RS server over port 1433 with success. Placed a sniffer on the wire and uncovered the SQL Server box denying access. I have a problem with the drillthrough feature in reporting services.
When I drillthrough from report A to report B it works fine and all
parameters where processed. But if i drilltrhough from report B to report A
now the parameters where ignored and i get an cached version of report A. How
can I run report A with the new parameters of report B after the first
drillthrough?

this problem only occurs in the Microsoft CRM report viewer.
