    - RDL File Not Saved I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 (with Reporting Services installed), and a cluster of SQL Server 2000 in a Citrix environment. I created a Business Inteligence Project, a Shared data source, added a new report and created a new dataset. I added tables to my Data tab, setup the relationships, etc. I Save All and exit VS (without building or deploying the solution). Next time I come back my Report Data file does not contain the tables I previously added on. No matter how many tables I add the size of the .rdl file seems to be 1 kB. This hapens occasionally only. I could not find a relationship yet but there are occasions when the rdl file does save properly and thus I don't loose all my work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!     - Getting data from multiple views Hello all, I need to create a report which takes info from about 8 views based on the report paramter which takes the Name of a person. Now I have a view which has the name-ssn pairs. and all other views have the ssn field. So I am doing an INNER JOIN from name-ssn table to each of the other views on the field ssn and get the data out from the other views. The problem i have is that I can test my query as I dont have the data. I cant test until the later part of the afternoon. So would like to know if this is the way to go about it.     - Images - Urgent I have an application where all reports get served up within .Net via SOAP. We would like to have impersonate = false and have all users authenticate as "NETWORK SERVICE". This works fine but the images and charts do not work as they are being retrieved using the client user id. I cannot write the images to the server and use them because the charts do not contain a unique name and therefore are overwritten everytime someone request them.     - Login failed for user <null> Hello, I have RS (client and server components) installed on a test machine (Win2k), with the SQL-Server database on a remote machine. I'm able to create reports, preview them with data, and deploy them with no issues. However, when I try to execute any of them from the Report Manager, I get: "Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection". The connection object is set up in the Report Manager as a shared data source, with the credentials stored in the report server, the credentials I'm using have access to the database, and I have the "Use as windows credentials when connecting to the datasource" check box checked (the database uses Windows authentication). Between all of the logins/security settings in use by IIS, the Windows Services, the database, aspnet, etc. I'm at a loss as to where the issue might lie. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!     - Rendering in PDF I am having a problem rendering a report in a PDF. The report has a fair amount of logic built in but the biggest problem is a list box that is the bulk of the report. The list box, as you can imagine, is to repeats groups of data...this works on the web page no problem...but when I try to export I get an issue where the list box just doesn't show. I have half a dozen text boxes and a table in the list box. The visibility of the list box is left on...there is no code to turn visibility off. The issue is purely rendering in PDF.     - Textbox CanGrow / CanShrink Question I have the standard mail label configuration within a List control on a report. It looks like this: John Doe 123 Main Street Anywhere WA 12345 The address textbox (containing 123 Main Street) has the the CanGrow and CanShrink properties set to TRUE. Therefore, if the address is something like: John Doe 123 Main Street MailStop A Anywhere WA 12345 Then the Address textbox expands vertically to show the additional line, AND the CityStateZip textbox should move down so it doesn't get overwritten. However, the CityStateZip textbox is getting overwritten. I did leave some room between the bottom of the CityStateZip textbox and the bottom edge of the List control which is the container for all of these fields.     - System Check Results with IIS Hi all, I have a web server running Windows 2003 with SharePoint services enabled. This is what I got when I tried to install SQL Reporting Services: 1.Windows SharePoint Services is installed on this computer. 2. Visual Studio .NET 2003 is not installed. 3. IIS is either not installed or not configured for a server component installation. For number 1 and 2, I believe I don't need to worry about since I will not run Visual designer on the web server and I need to do something for the SharePoint services at the end of the installation according to the setup help file. For number 3, I have IIS installed and IIS is running fine with SharePoint services. I don't know about the second part of the error: "not configured for a server component installation".     - Divide by a first row of resultset in a matrix I'm creating my first matrix based report, and find that some things that work with tables doesn't work the same way with matrix. My resultset comes from an MDX statement. It looks something like this .......................................Registered hours .............Amount .................Total...........................10......................... 1000 Month1.....Group 1........................6...........................600 .................Group 2........................4...........................400 .................Total...........................12......................... 1200 Month2.....Group 1........................8...........................800 .................Group 2........................4...........................400 The customer wants to display the values for the months next to each other, for each value. Now, I've managed to get this with a matrix, having the [static group] ordered on top. (Thanks to Ohjoo Kwon). BUT one of my columns is supposed to be "Group Result as % of total result." Meaning for Group1 in Month1 I need to divide 600 on the Total Amount. The first row in my result set is always a calculated total for that month. So, when using tables, I usually just do =Amount/First(Amount), and that works like a charm. When I try to do that in a matrix, all I get in return is "100%". So my guess is that in a matrix, I can't use First() the same way as in a table. But how can I do the division? How to divide "Any Row" by "First Row"? All help appreciated. Kaisa M.     - custom assemblies problem I have built a custom assembly, I copied it to the right folders and wrote some code to call the component. It works fine in preview mode, but when I deploy the report to another server I get the error: "error while loading code module 'x', version='x' ..." I feel I tried everything, copying the dll myself to the server's reportserver\bin folder, giving read & execute permissions, creating the xml nodes in the RSReportServer.config on the server etc. Always that error.     - reporting services 2000 installation problem Hi all, I recently installed Reporting Services 2000 on my server for the first time and it caused my existing web apps to stop functioning. I have a few custom dlls in the GAC and I had to end up re-registering them in the GAC and restart iis services. That fixed my apps not working. But now, for some reason Report Manager will not work.     - Security - URGENT PLEASE Hi, I have few reports deployed on server. database is on some other server. I would like to allow all intranet users. But if user clicks on links provided in exported excel sheet, windows authentication should be enabled, so that we can filter outside users. I have enabled Integrated Windows authentication and unchecked anonymous access. Now during testing, reports are working fine for my user account. But if some other user tries to access reports, it says user does not have sufficient previleges to access report. Can you suggest, am I doing right thing here. Any other methods for this scenario.     - Problem SUMMING grouped values The data structure is fairly simple Table 1 contains information about a property and the total area of itâ??s land Table 2 contains rental payments made on that land I need a report that shows â??Property Nameâ?? â??Total of Rentalâ?? â??Area of Landâ?? I have this information all OK by using the report to group the content and then performing a SUM(rental_amount) and a FIRST(area_of_land) so that I can get all the information in one line in the report. The problem comes when I try to show totals for all properties. In the group footer I have a SUM(rental_amount) which works just fine but the SUM(area_of_land) counts the area of the land as many times as there are payments on the land as follows; Property Rental Area Joes Farm 250 500 (this line hidden) Joes Farm 300 500 (this line hidden) Total: Joes Farm 550 500 (using the FIRST or MAX function) Janes Condo 300 200 Janes Condo 340 200 Total: Janes Condo 640 200 Grand Total 1190 1400 (should be 700) I was hoping to use the scope parameter to restrict the where the SUM was being done, but this is returning an error saying that the scope parameter is not valid for the aggregate function.     - DNS Question Hi, I have a test server running w2k3 with Reporting services installed. I didn't install DNS services for this test server because it will be put in production (not attached to the existing lan that's going to use it yet) down the line here. But I want to test reports from the internet. I have tried but have had no success calling up the report. I have a feeling it's due to not having DNS installed for AD. I can call up the reports on my laptop thats connected to a smaller lan for test purposes but a no go from the web.     - Forms Authentication Hi Has anyone successfully used the Forms authentication in RS? I have attempted to do exactly the same as its is mentioned in the white paper but to no avail. Firstly I am using the evaluation version of RS(is the security extension supported in the eval version??)     - Report Refresh through code in reporting services I use some editor to edit the data in the backend. I view the report in sharepoint portal using url access of the report in reporting services with the toolbar disabled by rc:toolbar=false. Now, as and when I edit the data of the report using an editor, I want the report to be updated with the new data. This I want to do it by placing a button or some link in the Sharepoint, clicking which should update the report with the new data. Look in the RSReportServer.config file for the SMTPServer element.
