    - Custom Delivery Extensions I am considering writing my own custom delivery extensions but have a couple of questions first. I am quite new to reporting services so forgive me if they sound a little dumb. Every time I read about the delivery extension it talks about them being fired at a particular time (via subscription) or when data changes. In this case I want to add a custom delivery extension to get specific reports added to a Document management system when ever these reports are called programmatically. Is this possible?     - Question on security Hi, I have a feeling what I want to do is not possible. I have a reportserver (everything works fine) and I have an asp.net app which allows users to run some reports. I dont use the reportviewer control, I just opent the report in a new IE window by using url access e.g. http://reportserver/reports/TimeReport&rs:command=render. This works fine but is there a way of preventing users just typing in http://reportserver/reports into the url and therefore accessing all the reports. I know I could use windows authentication for the reports but I cant do that for various reasons. Is there any setting I can set on the http://reportserver/reports site to only allow certain users access it but yet allow url access to reports as normal using e.g. http://reportserver/reports/TimeReport&rs:command=render.     - Incomplete data in excel fileshare -missing many rows Hello, I have a report with 35 columns, meant as a datafeed. The report uses a view on the (separate) SQL server so it only needs to put the values in the table. When ik run the report for medium datasets, everything works fine. However when I run it for more then 20,000 rows the exel-sheet only contains about 16300 rows. The report is meant as a subscription with a fileshare on the local server. When i run the report via the viewer, an export to excel is timed out, however an export to csv works and contains all rows.     - Order by of a table passed as parameters? Is it possible to parametrise the 'order by' options of a table/group so that a single report could be ordered by users on run time depending of their needs?     - SP2: ReportViewer (Print) Dear all I have a problem regarding SP2 When I print a report in ReportViewer with the new Prin functionality, everthing works great. My first report has different links to other reports, which are al shown using the same ReportViewer.     - Access Conversion Grouping problems Hi I am in the process of converting many Access Reports over t reporting services. I have a report that has grouping by Person then Part Number, Then Work Order. The Work Order has all the Seria Numbers listed for that WorkOrder. I want to get a total for th WorkOrders under the part numbers. In Access I just had a hidde field on the group level set =1. I also set the Running Sum t OverGroup. I also had another hidden field set to =1 that was set t Running Sum OverAll. I am running into problems with neste aggregates and referencing a field on a different grouping level. Below is an example of the data. Does anyone know how to acomplis this, as I have many reports like this to convert.     - Clarification of suitability We ship an application for use in hotels. Some are big and will us SQL Server 2005, some aren't so big and will use SQL Server Express For the bigger sites it is fine for the users to select reports fro the server But for all sites we would like to present a list of reports an descriptions from our application for the user to select and ru (generally printing direct to a printer, but sometimes to a previe or export).     - Report Designer VS. 2003 Interface Failure Our current VS2003 installed on 2000 Sever sp4 and Reporting Service will not longer interface. When trying to open a report project we recieve the error "Th application for Project XXX.rptproj is not installed" "Make sure th application for project type (.rptproj) is installed". Has anyone ever seen this error before or have any suggestions? We have built a number of reports and deployed them, but we are n longer able to open the project to make modifications.     - Exception Handling when VIEWING reports via URL Hi folks, I'd like to know if anyone has come across a way to gracefully handle exceptions when displaying reports via URL. I'm using SQL Server 2000 Enterprise with Analysis/Reporting Services (sp2) Example: User wants to see 'Daily' report, based on OLAP cube, but daily data hasn't been loaded, so your [Time].[2005].&[5].[19] dimension isn't there yet. It would be really nice to show some type of message like "No data has been collected for this time period", instead of: Formula error - cannot find dimension member ("[Time].[2005].&[5].[19]") - in a name-binding function Maybe it's a problem with my MDX query - it would be nice to return an empty set instead of tossing that error... although the optimal solution would be to log the error (RS does that nicely), but show a nice message to the end user.     - what's the deal with header and footer!! If the report is longer than two pages, and the header print on first page is checked, and the footer is set to print on last page, the following happens, the header prints on the first page the footer prints on the last page, on all other pages the header and footer print. The headers and footers on this report are like 2 inches high so I can't hide them with the If global!firstpage trick since there will be big blanks. Come on microsoft!     - RunningValue Error This seems to be a big topic so I don't feel to bad. When I try to do =runningvalue(Fields!Hrs_Available.Value, sum, "Machine_Group") I get this error. The value expression for the textbox 'textbox11' has a scope parameter that is not valid for an aggregate function. The scope parameter must be set to a string constant that is equal to either the name of a containing group, the name of a containing data region, or the name of a data set. This is what I have. I have these groups - Department, Date, Machine and my detail are lengths. So you may see downtime Extrusion 5/1/2005 7.98 L01 4 35 4 43 4 L02 3.98 35 3.98 Downtime is specific to a machine not a length any help would greatly appreciated.     - Unknown Error in Dataset Hi Am getting an error message when i add a specific field to a dataset which says Microsoft Visual Database Tools in the blue box & the error message says "Unknown Error". There is 3 tables with 2 joins. the field in question is a number. What puzzles me is that the same query in access works fine & even in crystal reports works fine. Problem still exists in a new report in a new project. Database is access. I realise that this is a little vague but was wondering if anyone has seen this before.     - Trying to install reporting services on XP Pro SP2 machine I am trying to install reporting services on XP Pro with SP2. The XP Pro machine is running SQL Server 2000 with SP3A, IIS 5.1, and Visual Studio .Net 2003.     - Production server is down after SP2 install After we installed SP2 none of our (or our clients) reports would run. We're getting the message: "The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.54'. The expected version is 'C.0.6.51'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights.     - Report Server Error After I installed .NET Framework sp1, my report server was broke. I got the following error. I did not remember I backup the symmetric key when I installed the report server. How do I deal with the isse and get my report server work. The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content and then restart the service. Check the documentation for more information. (rsReportServerDisabled) Thanks a lot.     - Export link on toolbar disabled The export link on the HTML toolbar continues to be disabled after I select an export format. This seems to happen everytime a report is launched from our application - it does this in a new browser window. I don't see this behavior if I view a report from the report manager (on the same client machine). I can also reproduce the problem using url access from a fresh browser. If I click around enough on the toolbar eventually the link will enable. I've noticed other posts reporting this kind of problem with no replies.     - Reporting Log Problem Every so often I find reporting services logs (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\LogFiles) in excess of 33 mb. For example there are 135 log files from today with the name similar to ReportServerService__05_19_2005_09_11_25.log and are all between 33 and 34 mb in size.     - Long Running Queries in Procedure Has anyone ever seen a query take longer in a stored procedure than it does when running in Query Analyzer? I have a set of about 10 queries that run for 18 minutes when running in a schedule job (which runs a stored procedure) but only for about 4 minutes when I run them manually in Query Analyzer. I'm trying to trim time out of a daily procedure that takes about 3 hours and I've already done some performance tuning - that's why I know how long they take in Query Analyzer.     - Report Layout, mult data regions and rendering in Excel ... Man ... I'm going nuts trying to get my report to render correctly in HTML ... and a full migraine trying to get things lining up when rendered in Excel. Here is what I'm trying to do ... any help would be vastly appreciated. * The report has three data regions arranged as such --------------------------------------------------------------- Matrix Data Region --------------------------------------------------------------- Table Data Region | Chart Data region | | --------------------------------------------------------------- * I need these data regions to fully encompass the 11x8.5in landscape page. Now some specific questions ... 1. Is there anyway to set the max width of a data region control? For example, the matrix control above dynamically creates colums of data based upon the dataset its bound too. Unfortunately I have to go back and forth between design and preview fiddling with the width of the column until it *looks* like its filling up the entire 11 inch width. Is there simply a ways to say ... "the specific widht of this controls is 11 inches, and when data is bound ... just fit it all inside those 11 inches evenly spaced out"? 2. VbCrlF ... Excel doesn't understand it! I use it for formatting some of the fields ... export to Excel and it bombs out when it sees it. 3. How do I get the three data regions to align correctly and fully encompass the 11x8.5in document? This is really driving me crazy. Like I said, been going back and forth between design and preview ... and as the data return varies ... so does the look of the report. 4. How to arrange the controls so that it renders correctly in Excel? Right when I get everything to look decent in HTML ... I render to Excel and all hell breaks loose. My one page report turns into 3 pages with everything out of alignment! Help. Anyways, appreciate any help here. There has got to be a way to get this done that doesn't have me going back and forth between design and preview and renders the 3 regions correctly on one fully 11x8.5in page in both HTML and Excel.     - subscription sqlagent job names When creating a subscription, SRS creates very cryptic SQLAgent job names. This can make it very difficult for our dba to maintain them on the server. There's no easy way to identify which job belongs to which subscription. Changing the name while at the server won't work, because when you edit the subscription, it will create an entirely new sqlagent job.     - Merging cells in a row I've got a group row that I have set to be a different background color. I would like for the background color to span all the cells in the row (like colspan in HTML).     - Retrieve column properties from another dataset Is it possible to have the properties of a column (like a label, its appearance) in another dataset as the actual column and use the name of the column to get the correct values from the other dataset in an expression (or is only the first row available)?     - Default Values For Parameter Queries? I have some report parameters that are pulldowns populated from queries. I would like the user to have the option of not selecting anything in the pulldown. However, Reporting Services forces the user to select a value from the pulldown. I've tried messing with "Allow null value", "Allow blank value", as well as different options in Default Values section of the Report Parameters dialog box. I haven't been able to get this to work.     - Production experiences of Reporting Services Hi, We are just about to make the decision of whether to opt for Reporting Services or another vendor (BO or Actuate) for our reporting infrastructure. We expect around 4500 reports an hour and have very little need for report interactivity, scheduling or caching. We want the latest data rendered into reports and displayed on the user's screen for printing or exporting. As we see it, the main benefit of Reporting Services is its low price (both initial and scaling up) and the major potential risks are that it is a young product and the report designer is not friendly or as full-featured as its competitors. Does anyone have experience of using Reporting Services in this sort of environment? Have you had any problems? Would you recommend it?     - Content Manager Security I have a user I have given permission to folder and reports as a Content Manager, but when the user clicks on the security tab for a folder or report they get an error of: The permissions granted to user 'DOMAIN\USER_ID' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) I am an administrator on the machine and fall into the BUILTIN\Administrators who are Content Managers, and have no problems whatsoever in viewing and setting security. Hi All,

How do I configure SSL for a single RDL.
I am using a web application and to show the rdl in the Web I am mapping
the Report Path as http://localhost/reportserver/report1.rdl to the
Reportviewer control.

Now I just want to configure only report1.rdl to use SSL.

In the RSReportServer.config when I change the
<UrlRoot>https://localhost/ReportServer</UrlRoot>, means the entire site
use SSL.

I just want only one report to use SSL.

Any inputs
