    - Publisher 2007 corner borders I just purchased MS Publisher 2007 and I'm disappointed they don't include the classic triangle corner border. They have a triangle corner border, but it is outlined by dashed lines and the triangle themselves don't overlay the corner of the picture, nor do they look as good as the ones you can use on the Kodak website.     - broken links on web page Hi there, I'm trying to update an old web page that has a number of out of date links which no longer function. I sourced the original material stored on my computer and updated all of the links, saved it in web page form, and uploaded the data to the web site. Problem is, when I try testing the updated links I keep getting error message saying that the files can't be sourced! It shouldn't be looking for files, it should be searching for the relevant web address. As an alternative, I've simply gone back to the source material, used the 'view as web page' facility to test the links on my own machine, only to see the same thing happen. It wants to find a file in the Administrator/setting section of my system. Oddly, all the other links that didn't require change work perfectly, yet if I try and change them to something else the same problem comes up again. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? I've used various versions of Publisher for years to create web pages, and have never encountered this problem before. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I should point out that the original folder containing the publisher document and relavent jpegs has been shifted from it's orginal site in 'my documents' to a secondary HD. It shouldn't make any difference, but I'm pointing it out just in case there's something to it that might be causing the problem. I use Publisher 2000 by the way.     - Shadows Is there any way to control which two sides the shadow can be placed? I'm building our lodge member directory which will include a page of business card ads and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason which side the shadow is placed.     - My Pub clipart collection SUCKS I recently upgraded from Pub 2000 to Pub 2007. Which means (I think) that my Pub clipart collection is the same as it was prior to the upgrade (It SUCKS). A friend who is collaborating with me on a project has Pub 2002 and she has a much better built-in clipart collection. Are the clipart directories the same for the two versions?... i.e., might I be able to copy her clipart collection to mine??     - Drop down box control? I'm new to publisher and I want to build a simple prototype of a web application to validate with the users. Publisher looks like the fastest and easiest tool I can find. It seems to have the controls I want to simulate except a dropdown list box. Is there a control available and how would I add it to publisher? Any suggestions would be appreciated.     - Pub 2003 Borderart Issue Hi, I have a lapto running Vista and Norton Internet Security 2007. I have installed Office Professional 2003. I am using Publisher and wish to create a custom borderart. I pick the clipart file that I want and click ok, I then get the following error message "Publisher cannot open the file".     - margins on an A6 document in print preview I have created an A6 postcard which fills completely to the edges yet when I look at the print preview, it shows the four copies on the A4 page but gives an unusual white border round the page which is larger on the left and the top of the page.     - setting new defaults I am using Publisher 2007 (recently upgraded from Pub 2000 that I almost never used). I don't use the wizard. I like to start with a blank page with 1/2" margins (I know how to set those), and a specific set of layout guides (I know how to set those too). Is there a way to permanently establish this somewhere so that when Publisher starts, my blank page is there waiting for me and the wizard is closed?     - converting to CMYK to send to a printing co? Don't have need of this yet, but came across it in making book covers. Publisher (2000) can convert it to CMYK which I've read is what printers want it to be. Or, they will convert it themselves (some say) If so, I would still have to send the image separately along with the overall design? It says embedded images have to be linked to the document and sent separately. The image file. I can understand this though I've never used a linked image in a document before. I put images on from my files (or clip art) (using a picture box and import, which I assume is embedding) but, I don't always leave them the same size as the original file. If I change the file to a link, and convert it to CMYK color (to send to a printer) and send image file with it, what if the image isn't the same size as it is on the documnet? Or, will it auto adjust to this when linked (by the printer)? And, if I use clip art, I still would have to send an original of the file? This is all totally new, and I don't have (at this point) any documents, image files, and printing companies to test it with. To see if I have it set up right for sending to a printer (or maybe a publish on demand company to use for a cover on a book) And, in that case, where they usually offer downloads (of the book) as an ebook, will the cover image(s) set up for a printer download okay? Can I use my home printer to test it (linked and converted to CMYK)? Or, will it just print it the way it shows on the monitor, like always? I guess I can set up a test with a linked image, converted to CYMK, save it as pdf and send it to myself to see how it comes out (like downloading an ebook)?     - [4] 8 1/2 x 11 pages on [1] 11x17 I would like to (4) 8 1/2 x 11 pages on both sides of 11x17 stock with a fold down the middle. I can do it but the page come out in the wrong order. Have tried all the possible combinations of file/page suetup/layout/folded card.     - Customize Notification I was needing help with icons that show up on the taskbar in the lower right hand corner. I have several from various programs and would like to delete them from the taskbar but the only option seems to be "hide them when inactive" or "always hide". These are programs that I use from time to time, but I don't want them on my taskbar. I have tried the "kelly" website to remove past items and it does remove several, but when I reboot all of the icons are back on there again.     - Hyperlinks when published When I add hyperlinks to other docs or sites to my page, they work with "ctrl - click" in Publisher, but don't work in the preview or when published.     - JPGs changing color when importing/exporting Two related questions I have a color managed workflow, with a profiled monitor and Epson 1290 printer. I use Photoshop CS2 and Pub 2002. I prepare my images in PS and save them as JPGs with sRGB color profiles. I am trying to create a full year calendar in Pub on a single page with a different image for each month. I have the dates in an excel worksheet which I insert as an object. Q1 - When I import my images into Pub they all lack in vribrancy and saturation. I know that I can change brightness & contrast in format picture but a) this should be necessary & b) it doesnt get them back to how they were in PS. When I print the out put has the same slightly washed out appearance. Q2 - I also want to produce some of these as 24 x 20 photos. I have therefore used the save as option to creat a JPG which I was proposing to send to my local photographic lab. However the output JPG is OVER saturated and skin tones look dreadful.     - Images - Publisher vs Word I'm pretty new to Publisher. I have a 72 dpi graphic logo as a .TIFF, done up in Photoshop CS2 that I'd like to lay on a document in Publisher. Sounds simple. And it is until I get a look at the crummy results. In a word: Blurry - to say the least. But, if I insert this very same logo into another MS product like Word 2003, it's really quite nice - clear and crisp - edges well defined, color has "pop" and so forth.     - a required installation file SKU111.CAB could not be found Hi. I have an XP with Office 2003. I've had Publisher 2003 for years and a couple of weeks ago I installed Publisher 2007. I've been using it and it's worked fine until this morning. Now when I try to open an existing Publisher document (which I just used yesterday), I get an error message stating: "Installation Error: File not Found" A required installation file SKU111.CAB could not be found Original Installation Source Required: It's telling me to install my original Office 2003 CD (which I can't find). Is there something I can do since I don't have the original CD? Plus, why would this do this today when it's been working fine all along? I use Publisher every day. Thanks for any help.     - setting up a book cover? I've been reading about this, the only directions I could find for doing it is how to set up a book (for pubish on demand, mainly) in WORD. This has a very brief discription of how to to set up the cover design (if one has no choice) in Word. Since I have Publisher (2000) I'm thinking that would be better, of course. I don't have a specific book and cover in mind, just would like to learn to do it. The directions for Word has how to set up the measurments, with extra on the edges for "bleed" and figuring the space for the spine (going by pages in the book, pages per inch, etc) but says to set it up landscape, as 2 columns. I was looking in Publisher and don't seen any templates for book covers, so think it must be "blank pages" and setting the measurements, size, of 3 of these, with the one for the spine set accordingly? The orientation would be portrait, but then printed landscape, but I don't think ordinary printer paper would be long enough for this. The entire book cover (front, back and spine) is printed in one piece? The example in my instructions (for a paperback size) is 12 3/4" X 9 1/2". In this case, except for testing it, it would be set up the size it's needed, and then saved in a certain way, "for the printer" (whoever is going to make the book) Also, the instructions (which apply to Word) says CMYK colors are best (which Word doesn't have). I've never done much with anything like that, or setting up a job "for a professional printer". I know there's a pack up setting on Publisher for getting it ready to print. I have Photoshop, which I believe has an option for using CMYK colors, I've just never been interested in this aspect, before. As I said, I don't have a book I want to set up or make a cover for, but got interested in this -especially in the "print on demand" area. I have seen ads for this, that say "decuct $175 from the price if you design your own cover" So, someone must be designing and setting up covers for these books, which seems to be creative and an art form in itself. Though, I would think, at one time, when books were only published by big companies, they would have their own cover designers setting them up. Now, there's more the "do it yourself" area. Maybe there are tutorials and info about this someone knows about? I've tried searches. All I could find was the little book (self published I think) about setting up a book and a few pages about cover design, using Word.     - How do I set up Publisher to find clip art file for border art? I have Microsoft Office2003 installed with a typical install on a HP pavillion lap top using Windows Vista. When I try to add custom border art I am offered a collection of pictures from clip art, but when I select a picture and try to insert it into the border art I get a message that says "Publisher can not find file.     - Publisher 2003 hangs up Can anyone help? I completely reinstalled Windows XP and all of my applications. Everything works fine except Publisher 2003. I have used 'add/remove programs' and removed Publisher 3 times, reinstalling from the CD - using different configurations such as Complete, typical and Custom. Each time the install seems to go OK and I can open Publisher, but whenever I try and do something (such as open an existing dorument, create a new dicument, etc.) Publisher just stops and I get a message at the top of the screen saying 'not responding'. When my document is created in pdf format, all of my email hyperlinks are "mailto:mailto:abc@abc.com", redundancy in the "mailto:" header. We have the children produce simple webpages using publisher 2003, these are then saved as an htm webpage, producing an .htm file and a folder containing images.     - Upgrading from 2000 to 2007 and Keeping my templates I am running Publisher 2000 right now. My office just bought Publisher 2007 and says I must upgrade. When they tried to put Publisher 2003 on my computer, I lost my documents formatting and templates. Is there a way to put Publisher 2007 on my computer and still use my 2000 templates and documents? Unfortunately we can't protect everyone. You can ask Microsoft to remove
them from the server but that could take a while and in the meantime Daft
Donald/Daft Debbie is already strolling obliviously thru the nettles patch.
