When I "publish to web" and all of my .htm/.jif/.jpg/etc. files are created,
they are stored on my computer. I then FTP them to the server and pull up
the website. The main page is there, however, when I click on a link, it
tries to access the location back on my original computer instead of the
global location of the files on the server. Is there an option somewhere in
Publisher that produces .htm files with a global location? Or do I have to
continue to edit the .htm files and change the location manual? I'm thinking
there should be a checkbox SOMEWHERE in Publisher 2007. Anyone? Please help!

If you plan to have files on the server available for download, this is one
way to do it.

Create a folder, i.e., downloads on the server and upload the files you wish
to be available from the website into the new downloads folder.

The links would read

/downloads/filename.xxx (xxx = type of file, i.e., pdf, doc, and so forth.

Optional path would be

http://www.domain.com/downloads/filename.xxx

Maybe I do not know enough about this to pose the question correctly. I'm
talking about the links to other portions of the website. At present, only
the home page is displayed correctly. When you click on a link to, say, page
2, it looks for page to on my computer instead of on the server where it is
found. Same goes for .jpg and .jif files. It seems like when i upload all
of these files to the server, they should interact with each other in the
specific folder on the server, and no longer be linked to my computer.

The most common reason for the main navbar links to look to the local
computer is because you put the navbar on the master page. You should not
use a master page in a web publication.

Also when you said that you upload the image files, did you upload the whole
index_files folder or just the files? Upload the folder intact.

If you have more questions about Publisher webs, then post in the web group
and we will try to help you there:
microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign
Please include the URL of your site and remind us of the version you are
using.

uploaded the entire folder intact. still tries to access the original
directory and not the files on the server. i know i can go in and edit the
.htm files to point to the correct location, but there HAS to be an option on
Publisher 2007 that creates the correct .htm files...
