    - locked publications We have a problem which has only started in the past couple of months, with opening publications saved on a shared drive, on different machines. All machines are running Windows XP, Office 2000 and all patched the same. They don't use Norton is any shape or form. If I created a publication on machine 1, save it on the shared drive, machine 2 can't open it because it is supposedly in use (even though Publisher isn't even open on machine 1) However if I create a file on machine 2, and save it on the same shared drive, machine 1 can open it fine. If I then re-save the document from machine 1, it can then not be opened on machine 2. It's as if machine 1 isn't releasing a lock properly. Could that be so, and how do I go about fixing it? I know that Publisher is a bit iffy when it comes to networks, but this never used to happen until a couple of months ago. Saving onto local hard drives and copy files around isn't a satisfactory solution in the office where these computers are either.     - crop problem A friend has publisher 2003 installed on two computers. On one of both, there is no problem. On the other computer, there is a problem with the crop tool: by using the crop tool, an image becomes disproportional. There are no problems by using the crop tool in other programs (Microsoft Word, the picture program that is installed together with publisher 2003,...). I have re-installed publisher 2000 and with this version, there is no problem on the same computer. I have tested the crop tool in publisher 2003 on several other computers, without any problem. Conclusion: only publisher 2003 on that one computer gives problems with the crop tool. The computer that has problems with publisher 2003 is a Dell PC, with graphic adapter: nVidia GeForce 4 MX 420. Every once in awhile something happens and I need to "reprint" one or two pages or the huge banner or poster.     - Newsletter Glitch I created a newsletter in Publisher 2003. I have emailed it to myself and another person and the document looks fine. However, when I try to print, it only prints page one and the second page is blank. I started using a wizard but in an effort to correct the problem, I have re-created it 3 times including doing it by scratch. The font (which I read could be an issue) is Trebuchet MS.     - how to print individual pages of booklet I was printing a 16 page booklet, which I use (4) 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of paper, with 2 pages of the booklet per side of paper arranged by the program so that when all four pages print one side, I then turn over all four pages, and the second side of all four pages print. Next I fold the pages in half and the booklet is in order from pages 1-16. When the first sides of the four pages are finised printing, a box pops up to prompt me to turn the pages over, however, this time that did not happen, only the first side of the four pages printed. I went to printing options to try to print the second side of the four pages, but the only option available was to print pages BLANK through BLANK, of the 16 pages of the booklet, which is not in order on the four pages.     - Error Sending Email Newsletter I'm sending newsletter to a few clients who are then forwarding to their customers. A URL is provided for customers who cannot view the newsletter due to limitations with their e-mail. This has been working fine for my clients who do not use Outlook. They forward the message from an Internet service and the majority of their customers can view the newsletter. Recently a new client was trying to forward the newsletter using Outlook (i.e. I sent the newsletter from Publisher to them, they forwarded to their customers) but only the text was forwarded. When I tried to re-create the problem using my PC, I noticed my forwards did not include anything. Just a blank screen. I changed a few of my Outlook settings and then changed them back and now I can't even send the newsletter from publisher correctly. Can you tell me what settings are needed for Outlook and Publisher to correct send the newsletters? Also why is there a problem forwarding an e-mail newsletter? Thanks in advance for your help!     - Legal page partial page I have a flyer that is 8 1/2 x 14 (legal) - two sided. Both sides of the flyer are predominately text with two 1x3" grpahics. Side One prints completely.     - How to make a perfect curve I'm a teacher and I am trying to create a publication that will show students the steps to properly draw letters. I need to do this in several steps - for example, for the letter B, the first step will be drawing a line straight down, the second step will be drawing the top hump in the B, the third step will be drawing the bottom hump in the B. Therefore, I have to break apart each step. I have not found a way to insert a perfect curve (like is needed in step 2 and 3 of my example). When I'm on step 1, I will show the line straight down as a dotted blue line. On step 2, I want to show the top hump of the B as a blue dotted line (and the straight line down will now be solid black). So I need to be able to insert a curve at this point, and format it like I want. I can't use the text box to insert the actual letter, because I can't format it like I need to. Any suggestions?     - Emailing Publisher Newsletter using Excel email addresses????? We have a 2-pg. Newsletter created in Publisher 2003. We have an Excel document with over 700 of our client's email addresses. We would "somehow" like to send the Newsletter to all of our clients, not as an attachment, but as part of their email message. It was saved as Web Page file type so that the Newsletter would open a new Brower screen in order to view it. We do not want all 700+ email addresses to be shown on the TO portion of the email. We want each email address on our Excel chart to get its own Newsletter. There should be no message in the body of the email, only the 2-pg. Newsletter. We haven't been formally trained in Publisher 2003, Word 2003 or Excel 2003, but we have spent countless hours on trying to figure out how to merge our Excel email addresses with our Publisher Newsletter and WE NEED YOUR HELP! We see a place in Publisher to create an email list, but with over 700 email addresses, that would take forever. We would like to somehow merge or import the email addresses already saved in Excel to finish our project. We have tried multiple different ways (Word 2003, Word Perfect 12, Excel, Publisher) and have reached DEAD ENDS. We are not proficient enough in Microsoft Access to attempt this project.     - graphics converter not working I am using Publisher 2000 to create a newsletter. It has been going well but now that I'm ready to insert pictures from files, it won't work. I get the message saying that Publisher can't convert this picture (it's either that it doesn't recognize the format or there was an error installing the graphics converter and to go to to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Highlight the Publisher program and choose "Change". When prompted, choose "Add Features". Then be sure to select to run ALL from your computer so that everything is installed. I've gone in and chosen to update all from Office 2000 Professional SR-1 and then just the graphics filters but nothing has worked. I've done this repeatedly to no avail. I've reinstalled Office 2000 Professional SR-1 and even repaired it which didn't work either. I've tried changing the properties of my .jpgs to open with a different program but that didn't work and I've also gone to control panels, display, settings, advanced, troubleshoot and changed it from full to half. Nothing has worked. I am able to insert clip art by double clicking on the 'generic' clip art that's in the template and choosing one that I'd prefer in that spot and it works but what I really need are pictures from file. In Publisher, I also tried getting the picture box, go to insert, object, browse, and double click on a jpg icon but all that is inserted into publisher is the icon. When I double click on the icon in publisher, my picture actually opens in a separate window but not in the newsletter. Am I getting any closer with that try? My deadline is creeping ever closer and I'm starting to panic. Is there another graphics converter that I should download or some other way to solve this? I prefer to use the Publisher templates but if I can't get this figured out may have to switch to the Word templates because I can insert my jpgs into those word templates. Thanks for your time. You need to create a longer single-page version.

Copy and paste the contents of page 2 onto page 1, below the contents that
were originally on page 1, delete page 2, and change the document page size
so that all the contents of page 1 fit in the page. Then send the page as
an email.
