Publisher 97 with Office 2002
I have a CD for Microsoft Publisher 97, which was included in Office 97,
from my previous computer that had Windows 95, updated to Windows 98.
Now I have a Windows XP computer, with Office 2002, but it did not
include Publisher. Can I install my old version Publisher 97 onto this
computer? Will it be compatible with Office 2002? Or would it be better/
worthwhile to purchase a copy of Publisher 2002 (or whatever the current
version is?
Thanks much for your help. Tag: retrieving unsaved work Tag: 103400
Publisher 98
I saved a publisher document as an html and uploaded to a
web site. I then tried to save publisher document and my
computer crashed.
If I download files from my web site can I then recreate
my publisher documents from the html files that were
created from publisher in the first place?

Font problems
I downloaded a couple of TTF fonts, as I have done in the
past, and they are not appearing in any MS application
(Word, Publisher, Excel, OutlookX). In the windows/fonts
folder they appear as the others do, but they are not
visible in the software. I also tried to delete some fonts
that I no longer need and they say they say Access Denied.
Please email responses. I may never find this newsgroup

viewing TIFF files
Hi, I posted this question a little while back, however,
the fix didn't work. Our church designs and prints
bulletins for other nearby churches using Pub. 2000. They
use a set of clipart discs with religious symbols and such
to add art to these bulletins. The clipart is TIFF
formatted. The TIFF files print fine, however when you
view them on screen prior to printing they are displayed as
black blocks. The suggested fix was to assure the picture
viewer was set to "display detail". Doing this did not
change the graphic's display though. It may be worth
noting that these TIFF files displayed fine in Pub. 98.
Any suggestions?

A 32-40 page booklet
The old fashioned way works, but is there a better way?
I have made several booklets using the following method.
To make a 24 page 8"x5-1/2" booklet, I create a 12 page
document and using 8x11 paper in landscape. I divide each
page in publisher in half and each publisher page becomes
two pages in the booklet. At the bottom of each publisher
page, on the left and right center I put the booklet page
numbers at the bottom as below.
Page 1: 24-1 (A)
Page 2: 2-23 (B)
Page 3: 22-3 (A)
Page 4: 4-21 (B)
Page 5: 20-5 (A)
Page 6: 6-19 (B)
Page 7: 8-17 (A)
Page 8: 18-7 (B)
Page 9: 16-9 (A)
Page 10: 10-15 (B)
Page 11: 14-11 (A)
Page 12: 12-13 (B)
After set-up is complete, I put the material on its
corresponding page for the booklet.
Once it's finished, I print everything. Then, I copy the
pages on both sides in sets; 1-2, 3-4, etc. When the sets
are nested together and folded, they become a booklet
with the material and page numbers in sequence.
I've done this with several booklets from 12-32 pages and
it works but I am wondering if publisher can do the page
numbering automatically, and allow me to work in sequence
adding and deleting pages when necessary.
It gets to be a little cumbersome sometimes. As you can
see from the chart above, page 3 appears on left hand
side of page 3 in the file and page 4 appears on page 4.
The only pages that appear side by side sequentially are
the center pages, in this example pages 12 and 13 appear
on page 12 file.
Maybe it's not possible for publisher to consider print
pages on both sides to make a booklet, or automatically
re-paging..
Any ideas? Tag: retrieving unsaved work Tag: 103342
Publisher shuts down
Please forgive me if this is long winded.
I'm running Office 2000 Premium.
When I click on any existing Publisher files, they open
but immediately close with the notice 'MSPUB.exe has
generated errors' etc, and says it's creating an error log
and I will have to restart the program.
Can someone please tell me how?
I'm not very computer literate but learning fast with this
problem. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling through the
Add/Remove programs (several times), I used detect &
repair, used the scan disc features, defragged, cleaned
out all my temp files, even used an Eraser2K.exe in case I
had some greeblies on the computer already from Office 97,
and then found that I couldn't reinstall 2000 as it was an
upgrade from 97. So had to reinstall 97 then reinstall
2000.
Does this has something to do with it - except it has been
running sweetly for 2 years up until now.
The only funny/peculiar thing that happened when I
upgraded and still does, is on only one file, I get a Font
Box saying I don't have a Park Ave Printer installed and
do I want to continue. Up until this problem appeared all
I had to do was click yes to continue and everything
opened fine. Now, as soon as I click yes, it also closes
down UNLESS I really quickly click on the page in the
background and 9 times out of 10 it opens OK. Yay, I can
use one file out of about 45.
If I bring up the wizard it opens OK. If I choose any of
the Blank templates publisher closes with the error
message and if I choose a predesigned templates it opens
with a message 'save changes before closing' If I click
cancel as if I won't to go on working it shuts down. If I
click save and do so, I can then open the file but it
still comes up with the save changes notice so I'm no
further ahead.
BTW I have up to date McAfee virus protection, regularly
scan for virus's and don't appear to have any.
I haven't installed any new software etc that I know of.

hyperlinks shown as activated in web page
In Publisher 2000 I have inserted text boxes which are
hyperlinked to other pages. When I preview the web site
the hyperlink text appears as it correctli, i.e blue
before use followed by grey after use. However, when I
save the file as a web page then double click on the index
page to check everthing works, the hyperlink text appears
grey as if it has already been used. The hyperlinks work
correctly with the exception of the color change. Any
help to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

Delete Page
I'm preparing an 18 page document. I display page 8.
Click edit, click delete page. Page 18 is deleted, not
page 8. I thought it worked yesterday, but it doesn't
work today.
I'm running Publisher 2000 on Win 2000. I bought both
when they first came out. The OS has been upgraded, but
not Publisher.
Thank you,

Text line spacing in web projects
In the web page project section, all the text boxes are
formatted double spaced. For some reason there doesn't
seem to be an option to do this. For all the other
projects I've done, there's an option on the text
formatting menu that allows you to change the line spacing
but I can't find it in the web project area. Surely, all
the text on web pages don't *have* to be double spaced?

Line spacing in text boxes for web pages
For some reason, the text formatting menu in the web page
project area doesn't have an option for changing the line
spacing from double-spaced. I want the text on my web
pages to be single spaced. In all the other projects, you
can use the text formatting menu to change the line
spacing but I don't see that anywhere on my web page
project. Surely, web pages don't *have* to be double-
spaced? Tag: retrieving unsaved work Tag: 103302
Pasting from clipboard, Pub2000 & WinXP
I'm using Publisher 2000 with WindowsXP for the first
time, and am suddenly not able to paste anything from the
clipboard (Word or any other program). Publisher will
allow pasting of objects that were copied within the
current Pub document, but nothing from the clipboard.
Does Pub2K not share the Office XP clipboard? I've
always been able to copy from other programs (Word,
CorelDraw) and paste into Publisher with no problems on
Win98SE and Win2K. Thanks for any help. Tag: retrieving unsaved work Tag: 103300
