    - mystery pages appearing I am trying (for the first time) to create a booklet using Publisher. When I started trying to insert extra pages, suddenly I found large text boxes filled with what appears to be Latin covering all my previously prepared pages. When I deleted the text and the object, it appears to just leave blank pages. Then I try to delete those pages and the Latin boxes reappear. Has anyone ever heard of this? There is no reason anything in Latin should be in my computer and I run anti-virus and all the protective software all the time. Any ideas?     - Purpose of Picture Frame? I thought the empty picture frame was used as a repository for a picture and that once a picture was inserted, it would stay anchored to that spot. In trying to use it, I believe I am all wrong in these assumptions. Can you direct me to a good explanation of the purpose of and the use of picture frames? I am trying to develope a large document (83 pages in Word) with several photos interspersed throughout the document. This is a manuscript describing a friends career in music. The Word software makes control of these interspersed photos a real pain for a klutz like myself.     - FTP .. Publish to Web Novice here - I have a web site completed and I'm simply trying to publish it to the web. When the ADD/MODIFY option comes up for FTP I am using ftp.domainname.com (the correct one) proper user name and password, etc. - I click on ADD so I don't have to do this every time. Here's the problem - it creates a folder BUT the folder is named: FTP://FTP.DOMAINNAME.COM - so when I double click on it to publish to the web I get an error which states "The folder "ftp://ftp.domainname.com isn't accessible. The folder may be in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains a / or \." What in the world? The filename is 'index.html' .. I'm completely lost here and the web hosting provider doesn't provide Publisher assistance. Any help would be appreciated very much.     - Publisher 2003 I am working on a 50+ page document in Publisher 2003, which I imported from Word. Suddenly, pages that were previously consecutive are "jumping" when I scroll through the document, jumping from page 19 to 33, etc. The text box links at the bottom of each page are working. I've tried cutting and pasting into a new document in case this one is corrupt, but with no success. I'd hate to have to start again, because I don't know what I could do differently, but this document is useless the way it is. Any ideas?     - Styles change by themselves in publisher When I delete unwanted Styles from Publisher 2003, they reappear next time I open the document.     - TIFF file with alpha channel mask does not convert well to PDF Hi, I have the following problem and wondered if anyone else has come across it. Software involved is Publisher 2003, PSP 9, Trial of Acrobat Professional 7.0 and DeskPDF. (PDF settings use Postscript Level 3.) I have a simple graphic of an arrow. I created a mask for the arrow in PSP. The mask blanks out everything but the shape of the arrow and puts a fade on the tail end of the arrow so that it just melts away. This mask was saved to an alpha channel and the resultant file saved as a TIF and PNG. When both copies of the file are inserted into Publisher, everything is as it should be. The arrow shape sits on the foreground and the tail fades into the background. When I go to produce the PDF through the print option, both Acrobat and DeskPDF produce a file where the fade portion of the arrow is chopped off suddenly. The rest of the mask works; there's no white background to the arrow shape. It's just that the fade is brought to a sudden halt and not let to gradually blend in with the background. One interesting thing to note is that Acrobat 7.0 now puts a toolbar in every Office application that allows you to do a one click conversion to PDF. This process appears to be different to the Print option. Under this conversion method the PNG graphic appears in the PDF as it appears in Publisher with a lovely blend into the background.     - Field Concatenation I am working on a catalog merge to create postcards. The first, last, and middle names are in three separate fields. In Crystal and Access, I can easily create the formula to combine them into one string with only one space in between. The merge will be 2-sided (data on both sides).     - Publisher 2000 Calendar Problems Hello: My question/dilema is this: I used the "wizard" to create a calendar. Then when the calendar was open I changed, colors, positions of company logo, info, clip art, etc. It came out very nice (by the way). Okay, in preparation for 2007, I want to just simple change the start/finish dates to 2007. When I do this with the good ol' wizard, it changes...BUT it resets the entire design back to the original calendar template that the wizard offers (not my design changes.) So I tried this next: Opened the calendar, hit File/Save As and saved it as a "template" in Publisher. Then I opened that template file, showed wizard, tried to change the start/end year...and BOOM...again it changed the entire "design" BACK to the wizard's original color/design scheme.     - Finding and installing missing fonts Hi, I have FP2002. I've installed it on two machines. I notice though that theres quite a few fonts that are missing from my laptop. .     - Trying to get covers right for a POD Here is something I got from their tech support: "I do not know the specific problem in your case, but first you must understand that MS Publisher will not export your file at the proper resolution of 300dpi, which means your cover is probably coming out undersized. In addition, your cover file PDF, since it is being exported from MS Publisher, will have layers. The PDF cover section cannot handle layered files, and when it encounters one, it gives an erroneous "wrong size" message." "Most likely you are running up against both of these problems. Covers are meant to be images, and they are best created in image editing software.     - Right and Left side pages in 2 page view with sections I'm building a workbook, I want a cover page (right side orientation) an inside cover page (right side orientation) and then I want to begin the content with an introduction page also with right side orientation. I am using the 2-page view to lay out the pages for 3-hole punch, so the master page margins & guides & page numbering is set up for that. I've tried re-doing sections in 1-page view and in 2-page view to try to force the new sections to start on the right-hand page like the beginning of the document will do, but I can't figure out how to make the sections do that as well without inserting a blank page to substitute for the left-side page... and of course, when I do that, the page numbering starts with 2 on the page I want to be 1 even when I ignore master on the blank left side page.     - i need to have more text options in a running writting font I have to format a logo from a hand written sign. The text "Script MT Bold" is quite acceptable but the 'f' needs to have a loop on the bottom not on the top. The dot above the 'i' needs to be round not square.     - Publisher poster page selection I just made a poster that requires (12 sheets) 11"/8.5" paper. I messed up and I had to reprint a certain part of it. Luckily it was on the last row of tiles and I could print from the last page starting off. After reprinting I had to cancel the print to make it stop printing because I am just completely draining my ink and it's not worth reprint the whole thing. I cut it off a tile early and so I had to go and repint again cutting it off after the 8th tile. On my second reprint my printer stopped using the cyan pigmant and was just magenta and yellows for the 8th and 9th tiles...the ones I needed. I checked the help and trouble shooting and it went into an elaborate scheme to make a freaking page selection. It isn't even a page selection it is recreating what part of the poster I want to print as the whole poster using the horizontal and vertical rulers tool.     - drawing not appearing on screen - Publisher 2003 I had to reinstall Publisher some months ago. Since then many of my documents simply dont show correctly on screen. I am trying to print a banner on one LONG sheet and it only printed out on a
maximum of 4 connected sheets of banner paper.

This is supposed to be fixed in Publisher 2003. If you are running Publisher
2003, make sure you have the latest service packs. If that doesn't help...

Design your publication so that the longest edge is 48" or less. e.g. If
your page is 1' x 10' (12" x 120"), design instead for a page that is 4" x
40". Then create a PDF using a free PDF converter such as PrimoPDF
(www.primopdf.com). Open this in Adobe Reader, and print to your 10' paper,
telling Reader to Scale pages to fit.
