    - A Question on Formatting Pages for Printing I want to send a manuscript to a printing company in PDF format. This is called print ready. These pages are to be 5.5 x 8.5. For the margins they want the margins to be .5 inch, except the gutter is to be .625 inch. Here is my problem: I can do this in MS Publisher if I select Mirrored pages. You can'r set a single page up and get the gutter on the odd and even pages. They don't want you to submit mirrored pages (2) on a single 8.5 x 11.0. Any ideas?     - How to delete a text object? I can delete most objects by selecting them and pressing the Delete key. If I do that with a text object, the Delete key deletes a character in the text inside the object. I have found that I can right-click the object and then select Delete Object or I can press the Detele key while holding down the Shift key. Is there a setting that will make Publisher select just the object with the first click and the text with a second click? My new computer arrived preloaded with Office 2003 - a fair jump from Office 97 - but I am unable to view fonts in color as I compose. This is also the case in Outlook Express 6.     - duplex printing My Canon Pixma ip 6000D printer has the option of printing on both sides. After one prints it sucks it back in and prints on the other. I want to make a book of picture (with spiral binding on the side) for a bedridden person and feel having it set up landscape would be best. I'm also using regular pages set at landscape to make a good size (cardstock) I have it set up this way in Publisher, but when I print it, it comes out fine aligned on the pages, but the 2nd picture on the back is upside down. This would be the next "page" of the book and should be going the same way. I can set up every other page in Publisher upside down, but there might be an easier way? When I set it as portrait (the binding would still be on the left side) it comes out fine. Also, if I wanted to print it the way it's doing it now and put the binding across the top (like a calendar, flipping up) the pictures would be aligned okay. It gets confusing because there are so many place to set it (either landscape or portrait) and I have that right. Just need every other picture to be printed upside down (LOL) (or print every other page and put the paper back in and print the other sides) Seems like there must be settings for this somewhere, where Publisher (and printers) can be used for booklets that are bound on the left side and open like a book. I guess what I need is a book/booklet setup with the binding down the left side, but landscape and not portrait. I will have to practice with greyscale or make test sheets till I hit on the right combination. Maybe setting it up as a booklet to start, then making the pages bigger? I'm confused.     - Making a calendar in french? I've been learning french, and come across a calendar to download in french (dl one page at a time). I looked into this once before, thinking Publisher might have a language option to change calendars into directly, but couldn't find any (I have publisher 2000) Last year when I did this I saved the 12 french pages and copy-pasted them onto the pages 1-12 in a basic calender in Publisher. I could probably use blank pages and start with 12 (and a cover and backpage, if I want them) too. Is there any easier way to do this? If I have all the pages of the french calendar downloaded into a file, like in My Documents (as jpgs) what is the best way to get it into Publisher? The point of this would be to have the 12 pages all together in one place, in a calendar set up. I could probably open Paint Shop Pro or something and print them one at a time that way.     - Missing Product Key I purchased a dell laptop with Microsoft Office back in 2002 and never used or installed Publisher 2002. Trying to use it now and it is looking for the product key. I can't find the original disks. Is there some way to discern the key from the other microsoft office apps that I have running?     - Clipboard Problem with Publisher 2002 (XP) As I am preparing a newsletter with Publisher 2002, I am trying to copy and paste from various sources. When I open the Office Clipboard I see only the first entry not the subsequent ones. Whenever I try to paste something that I have just copied anew from a txt file or PDF or doc file, the result is is the original copy. I have tried to clear the clipboard several times. It shows what should be there, but then has a mind of its own when I try to paste or special paste it into the newsletter as unformatted plain text. Does anyone have an answer to this?     - Holiday Wishes from Mary Sauer ... Hello All, This is just a quick note from Mary Sauer's son wishing all of you a Happy Holiday Season. My mom will be back on line in a few days. She was taken to the Cardiac Unit of a Columbus Hospital Friday Evening. It seems that she might have had a minor (in that word can be used) heart attack. She was in ICU all day Saturday and everything stabilized and was moved out into a regular room Sunday. She will undergo a procedure today in. Not sure which one yet, some sort of coronary intervention. I want everyone to know that she has all of you in her thoughts. She wanted me to get on line and express her regrets that she has not been on line helping. Being on line and communication with all of you is what she loves to do. Looking forward to getting back here is one of the driving forces that is helping her toward recovery.     - calendars questions I've been making calendars from the "understated" template in Publisher 2000. 12 months on 12 pages, trying different ways, portrait or landscape. Right now I'm been setting up family birthdays, etc. on them to print out as gifts (for the family) I've been trying to figure out a good way to put them together. Just printing them out and stapling them doesn't work (make it easy to turn the pages over each month). I've tried punching holes in the top and putting twisty ties, or loosely tied colored yarn through, but nothing seem to work good. By the time the end of the year comes they are all bunched up at the top and not turned over smoothly. I recently got a home spirial binding tool, which came with no instructions so I'm just figuring it out now. This has possibilities but doesn't seem too secure with plain printer paper, and is hard to use with cardstock (only punches holes in this one sheet at a time). But, it's the best solution I've found so far. Adding this to the post in case anyone else knows a better (simplier way) to put 12 pages of a calendar (that will hang on a wall) together, so the pages will turn over smoothly all year. With the spiral binding it seems like there should be a little more space at the top of the calendar pages for the holes and spiral binding to fit. moving the rest of the calendar down the page, even if it reduces in size a bit. There may be a way of setting this up when I start the original templates? I'd rather have a way of doing it now I have the calendars all set up, because starting all over would mean going over and putting the birthdays, etc on the dates all over again. I've tried to select or put a picture box around the entire page and move it down, but all it does is make the month and year heading on top smaller. Though this might be a possibility to get more space up top- if so how would I get it the same (reduced size of heading to give more space on top) on each month? If I resize it on one will it auto do it on all? It comes up with the tabs 1-12 on the bottom. This can get so frustrating and confusing and someone who knows how to do it can make it easy.     - transparencies Hi guys... I've created an image that has a call-out auto shape on it, to make the guy in the picture look as though he's saying something.     - Switching Mail Merge off? I have a file that I was originally using mail merge with. Now I've decided I don't want to. However, every time I open the file it searches for the file containing the mail merge information and gives me two separate error messages. Is there a way to switch off mail merge within this file?     - Input Dialog for Image Overlay and Auto Duplication of Certain Obj I am fairly new to Publisher so I am sure there is a way to accomplish the following, I just have not figured it out yet. I work as an Imagery analyst looking at overhead commercial satellite imagery. These images are used to create annotated products that have an overlay with basic information like date and time of image, coordinates of the image that is being displayed, copyright information etc. To help automate the process of creating these products, I would like to add an input dialog that asks for several key peices of information that will be inserted into Textboxes at certain places on the overlay. In word this can be done simply by adding the Fillin field, but there does not seem to be a similar function in Publisher. Any help would be appreciated. On another note, I would also love to figure out how to copy the Marginalia (all of the template textboxes mentioned above) onto the next page and have them be the top layer. Adding these objects to the Master page keeps them under the image when it is added. Sure, you can go Insert > Page and click duplicate a page, but then you have to bother with deleting the image on the new page and getting rid of the old marginalia. My thanks to any who respond.     - creating a church directory in publisher 2003, using data from acc Am trying to catalog merge a query created in access to create a church directory. The snag I'm hitting has to do with keeping the records for a particular family from being printed in the next listing(there's 2 families per page). I had to use subforms in access in order to input the variable number of children names and birthdays. In doing so, the member's name and record number had to remain the same while the children's names and record numbers kept incrementing. Kinda scratching my head on this one. Any help would be appreciated. I'm almost positive the database is sound, just a matter of getting it read into publisher in a manner that it can better be manipulated. Perhaps a macro?     - Publisher 2003 hyphenation can't be changed for one word Hello: I'm trying to work on a newsletter, in a three column format that needs hyphenation turned on, so the justified text looks better. However, there is one word that it wants to hyphenate (the word is eScrip, a company name), which should not be hyphenated. I've seen older articles in this NG suggesting various work-arounds, including turning hyphenation off for the whole story, changing the font size, inserting carriage returns, and changing the spelling of the word itself. However, none of this is acceptable. Isn't there a way to select one word, and tell Publisher *not* to hyphenate it? I'm sure I've seen that in other products that do hyphenation. (Maybe that was back when Lotus Ami Pro was around. I don't do much publishing!) That's all I want, for Publisher to *normally* hyphenate, but when I need an exception, it needs to allow the exception. How does it know not to hyphenate, words like "word"? (Or does it? I know from a previous article, it doesn't know not to do "was-n't"!) By the way, if you decide to reply to my e-mail, you leave the "nospam" in, because that's my real newsgroup e-mail. Hello: I recently did some housecleaning on my computer (a Dell I8200) and now have an odd problem when working in an open page in Publisher: when I want to Insert a picture, the Window "Insert Picture" opens, but in the "Look in:" window, the word "Pub60Cor" is displayed, along with apparently every image I have stored on my hard drive. It's no big deal to mouse click down to the folder where I store my pictures, but my computer didn't do this before, and I would like to know how to change which folder opens in that window when I open up the Insert Picture option. In the print setup, select "multi-pages" per sheet. Each label is considered a
page.
