    - ClipArt Hello all I have Publisher 2003, Windows XP (SP1) and Office 2000 running. In Publisher, I am having trouble with ClipArt. Sometimes it will let me insert it OK, but when I try to move or resize the clipart, Publisher (& my computer ) locks up completely. Ctl/Alt/Delete does not work, & I have to urn power off. This sometimes happens as soon as I insert the clipart, but mostly when I try to move or resize it. I have no problem with clipart in Word 2000. Any ideas??     - publisher 2000 I have an Window ME box and have an OEM version of office 97. I have purchased a stand alone version of publisher 2000. The publisher keeps assuming an oem pruduct number of another software so the numbers I got from microsoft registraion people to activate it don't work because it is using the oem number. First it was from the office suite. so I tried using the utility cleanup software. that didn't work. I uninstalled both. and reinstalled publisher without the office package. that didn't work thats when it started using another oem number.     - Lack of Integration in Office 2003 ? I want to give a calendar to users who only have access to Word & Excel. The format of that calendar should be somthing like the monthly view that you get with Outlook i.e a box for each day, so that entries can be made in the box. I cannot find anything in Word or Excel to do this job, but Publisher has some wonderful calendars exactly what I want. I selected the most basic calendar page and chose a full year hoping that I could then export it to Word. Ah, but here's the rub - you can't! Well, at least you can (using RTF or TXT) but it looks a mess. My temperature is a little high at the moment, so forgive me for blasting off.... but I need to get it out of my system..... Office 2003 is advertised as a set of integrated applications - don't make me laugh! It seems to me that if you produce a publication using Publisher, not only should you have the ability to print pages of paper for everyone, but you ought to be able to publish it in a form that can be used by Word (paperless office, and all that...)... Oh, yes I know it's OK in HTML, but very little of the world uses HTML and certainly not for simple tasks like a clerical person filling in a time-sheet or the like...... Arrgghh!!!! OK, I'm feeling a lot happier now that I've bleated on about that..... Just to create a bit of balance - I generally like the Office products (I was staggered many years ago when OLE came into being and you could have parts of a spreadsheet in a Word document) and I do find them useful tools, but some of what I think as being obvious, you generally find that you can't do easily. Final gripe - MS have never sourted out some of the basic problems that were there in Excel 4.0 and Word 6.0... but that's another story....... Thanks for listening!     - Pub 2000 Booklet Calendar I made pocket calendars using "bookfold" by stretching one month over 2 pages. Unlike a book with pages running left to right...the calendars go top to bottom with the pages flipping up. i.e. January plus two lines of days on the upper half (being page 2) and the rest of the days in the month on the lower half (being page 3). Since Pub only has bookfold with pages left to right, I have to use a "working" calendar, set up my page, add my information then connect everything on the page, rotate the whole page to run left-right, copy, open up the .pub setup as "bookfold" and paste it on to the two pages. Is there an easier way? These calendars are stacked, then stapled, so the printing is a different than just front and back. Feb on the upper half might have the rest of Dec 's dates on the lower half before assembling. Can't get the printer set up to show book printing now that I have bought Publisher 2003 - it worked fine with Publisher 2000. I used to print one side of pages, then it would tell me to take pages out of printer and put back in a certain way. I can't get 2003 to work the same way.     - Font style keeps changing when clicking on the Copies per Sheet to In MS Publisher 2003 my font/color style keeps changing on my business card layout when I change the option: "Copies per Sheet" tool from "One" to "Multiple". I also lose the font/color style when I open the business card file from "My Recent Documents" from the Start Menu in XP Home. Here I have attached two screenshot pictures that illustrate my problem. The picture named "Good" indicates that it is in "Multiple: mode and my colors and font style are perfect. And the picture named "Bad" indicates that as soon as I change it to "One" mode, it changes my font/color style. And when I click back to "Multiple" it still remains the same way as the "Bad" picture.     - Publisher newsletter production problems We use Publisher 2000 at my work to produce a community newspaper of about 12 A4 pages (3 x A3 printed double side). We have had a lot of trouble working with Project, taking very long time to produce each document. The documents have a number of digital photos embedded. Problems include taking up to 50 minutes to save a document (document size is ranging from 200 to over 500 mb), during which time you obviously can't work on it, text formatting changing when manipulating photos, difficulty in working with text boxes. The staff using the program claim that Publisher is not up to the task of producing a newsletter of the type described and are pushing for us to spend a lot of money on Adobe Creative Suite, for the programs InDesign CS and Photoshop CS. One of the main claimed shortcomings of Publisher is that it embeds images in the document, rather than linking to them as Adobe apparently does, and that this is why the documents are so large and thus so clumsy to manage. I am happy to spend the money on the Adobe product if it is needed, but first I would like comment from Publsiher users on the problems we are encountering.     - Object Toolbar has disappeared... Hello Everyone, I am running into a bit of a problem. The Object Toolbar that is usually on the left hand side of my screen has disappeared. I am not aware of doing anything with it, but I cannot find it anywhere. It is not one of the toolbars that you can just open and close, so I don't even know where to find it. It doesn't show up when I open other Publisher files, so obviously it is something that has changed in Publisher. Any tips you guys can give me to find it again would be appreciated.     - Opening files For the past two months I have run across an issue that I can't seem to find a solution. When I open Publisher files (not all but some; especially when opening a file from Publisher when it's up and running, though that's not the only time) I get an error report that certain fonts that are embedded in the file are not found. The fonts are almost always were not used in the program and they ARE in my ...windows/fonts/ folder. When I click OK, it tells me an error has occured and Publisher will need to be shut down.     - Font rendering in emailed newsletter I have prepared a newsletter using Publisher's templates and it looks great in html (e.g. in Explorer), but when I email it as message body (or view it in the email preview) fonts are not rendered in the same way and the quality is much worse (the font is the same, but it looks as if it has a lower resolution, it does not have the same smooht look). Do you know what may be the cause and how I can address the problem? (Note that I do not want to send the newsletter as an attachment - it has to be the email body), Here is some additional information: - I am using Publisher 2003 and Outlook 2003 (fully updated) - The font used is verdana (using the online verdana font scheme) and character spacing is left as default. Font size is 9-12. I tried to change it, but there is no improvement. - I left the basic formatting pretty much the same as in the template, although I have moved around and resized boxes - Initially emailing the - In the email version, most of the text looks bad, but not all. Some windows look ok. To try to replicate that, I used the same formatting for some of the boxes with low quality fonts, but it does not seem to have any effect. - If I send the original template (using the same Verdana font scheme) the newsletter looks fine.     - Clipart stops responding Whenever any user on any computer in my domain where I work tries to use clipart in any Office 2003 product (most often Word or Publisher) the clipart program stops responding. They type in the keyword they want to search the clipart gallery for, they press GO, and then it stops responding - this also causes the Office application to stop responding as well. For some users after about 5 minutes the clipart search results will appear and they can use the clipart, but trying to perform another search will take another 5 minutes of staring at the screen. I can force the clipart process to stop by ending the process in Task Manager, but this is no good because the users need to use the clipart. What confuses me is that this happens to every user except myself - I have administrative rights on my user account. However, I have tried giving another user administrative rights to see if it fixes the problem for them but it didn't work. I have also tried reloading Office 2003 on a couple of machines to no avail. Any suggestions on how to make this work? Thanks in advance.     - How to disable Publisher I do up pamphlets for clients on WORD because none has PUBLISHER. Now that I've installed OFFICE 2003, none of my WORD documents with text boxes in them will open in WORD. They all revert to PUBLISHER. I want to be able to save the card layout and merge different data each time they send me their file. When I open the saved pub file it states that "Opening this publication will access data from the following location:..." and then shows the location of the data file that I just printed from.     - Color pages take 45 mins and longer to print on laser Hi all, My two page document takes roughly 45 minutes and sometimes longer to print in colour, using Publisher 2003. When I print is black & white prints instantly, Bit more info, did document at home with an external mysql db, I don't have a printer that can handle this type of job. So I've "printed" the job as an adobe PDF and taken it into my office to print, and same problem when try to print takes 45 mins. it's doing an automated mail-merge letter, that grabs name address, ... from an external MySql DB and then adds to a letter. Problem not with data just the printing, printer just sits there "processing data", the file size displayed in properties is 227KB for the 2 pages. Same result if I try and print just 1 page or 2 or all 348 pages. So I thought must be resolution, tried 1200dpi , 600, 300 and 150dpi. all same problem, so thought must be PDF so I tried using the "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer", then tried to print them and same problem. Arghh :) Anyone have any idea why a simple 2 page document, 2" colour header at start of first page and a half-inch grey boarder around the rest of 1st page and all of the 2nd, takes so long to print. What am I doing wrong? Or have any suggestions how I can print these without having to wait for 5 days for them to print :) thanks all Michael ps: 1) I tried taking the file into the office and printing directly to printer, but firewall blocking port 3306 so I can connect out to complete the mail-merge, so all I have is a blank master, hence why I am trying to save to file and then print elsewhere. 2) I've also tried to output the mail-merge into a new publication, but when I do the text gets moved around, some moved out of visible area and the formatting (paragraphs, tabs) is removed, so I cant use it. :) anyone's help will be greatly appreciated, thanks again Tag: Title: Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for September 2004 Tag: 121700

    - General Questions regarding Publisher 1) I have written around 300 pages in Word (blooklet size) that I would like to import into publisher. When I import the Word Document, into a blank publication it imports everything correctly but it defaults to full page letter size and I get only 90 pages. How do I import it with the correct paper size? 2) If I change the size to booklet in publisher, the page in the back ground goes to the right size BUT the Text boxes stays the same size. When I go to the last page, I only have a third of my document left. If I reduce the size of the paper I expected to get the extra pages add on. I am stuck at 90 pages. I have an excel record source with 7 rows in it. When I print, I want 1 page to print, 10 up, with all 10 coming from the same record in Excel.     - Printing in batch of 10 documents or 20 pages single sided i know.. i've read alot of post regarding this but it seems there's no confessions regarding the fix (registry fix" i tried it myself but still publisher prints it by batch of 20 (double sided)/10 (singles). anymore suggestions? this is being a mail merge printing.. thanks Tag: Title: Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for September 2004 Tag: 121682
