transparency and tif files
Does any version of Publisher support transparency and tif files. I
use all CMYK tif files from Photoshop. Quark and Pagemaker support
this fine. Publisher 2000 doesn't seem to work very well at all (white

version 98 & 2000 new version wont print 98 files?
I have been a long time user of Publisher. It's my
favorite program.I do alot of flyers and articles for my
Methodist church, so purchased a newer version of
Publisher 2000 for church office. My idea was to copy
some of my created files so the secretary could just
click and update the date, prices, etc for the annual
events. I also wanted to be able to create articles for
the monthly newletter, email them so they could just be
popped into the newsletter publisher template I now have
them using. I copied some files took them and loaded on
chuch PC. They print on the laser printer but not on the
color hp ink jet we have.Isn't the updated version 2000
that the church has not going to let my 98 publisher file
print? thanks in advance.Dan Tag: TEXT BOX HELP Tag: 102858

PowerPoint
About 18 months ago, I purchased a twin processor Dell
420, and it kept crashing with PPT. I went up to third
level tech support at Dell and since I also installed
Windows XP, I had access to and talked to third level
tech support at Microsoft. In the end, Microsoft agreed
there was a problem with PPT, that caused the computer to
crash, and that they were not goint to fix it.
Since that time I have also purchased a twin processor
Dell computer, and of course PPT keeps on crashing. I
have XP, Office XP, and slides in files which range up to
150 slides per presentation. I also have slide files
[resource files] with slides up to 500 slides.
When is Microsoft going to make a PPT system that can
handle such massive files without crashing in a 2
processor system? I am not aware of even an update or
download that has even addressed the system. Maybe you
can enlighten me.
I know large group of people who make presentations as I
do with large quantites of slides, and they seem all to
have similar problems. I have long ago stopped sending
in reports to Microsoft on those crashes. Microsoft
expressed neither interest, nor concern about the level
of crashes. I have been at it for maybe 90 minutes today
with already 5 crashes.
What is the patch which will fix my problem, and stop
giving me fits of unhappiness?

What happens if you create a new text box to contain the caption? Or if you
resize the current one to make it larger? Or if you use the On-Screen

This is due to the way that Publisher handles multiple copies. I suggest

WTF happened to printing spots a multiple angles
Microsoft must have retarded monkeys designing their software. I
upgraded to Publisher 2002 because of the amount of clients I had that
were sending my 02' files. I was completely floored when I found that
I can't send multiple spot colors at different angles to my
imagesetter.
Why would Microsoft say they have the most "printer friendly" software
and then remove multiple screen angles? It's not like they have never
added a way to do this in any previous version, they actually removed
it from this upgrade. It's not a bug of any kind, Microsoft stated
that the only way to do this was to change the screen angle and then
output each pass individually. This is extremely inconvenient and a
real pain in the ass.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281741
I've despised Publisher for years, but this makes me hate it even
more. If it was not for needing to use it due to client requirements,
I'd remove it from my computer and burn the disks. Tag: TEXT BOX HELP Tag: 102786
Microsoft publisher ps files to PDF - some fonts distorted
Our team recieves newsletters in ps format from multiple satelite
locations that we would like to convert to PDF and publish on our
Intranet. We would like to avoid the expense of having to install and
train the newletter writers with a PDF converter program such as
Adobe.
Currently they send us the ps file, and we convert it using Acrobat
5.0. However, we noticed that several fonts such as Franklin Gothic
Book and Georgia look distored when opened in PDF format. They still
print fine, but we are trying to save a few trees here. Yes, we embed
all fonts when converting but we still see this issue. The only way we
see around it is to limit what fonts the newsletter writers can use
Is there any other suggestions? Does Acrobat 6 do a better job with
this?

Two-Column problem
Using Arrange, Layout Guides, I set up Publisher 2002 with two columns per
page and with two master pages with mirrored guides.
For the first 11 pages, text flowed as expected. That is, each new pair of
pages had two textboxes per page.
But now, when I add a pair of pages, Publisher gives me guides for two
columns per page but gives me only one page-wide textbox per page, not two.
How do I force Publisher to give me two textboxes per page, as it did for
the first 11 pages?
