Copying Clip Art from CD to hard drive
I am trying to copy my clip art gallery from my Publisher
2000 CD's to my hard drive in Windows XP. The instruction
provided by Microsoft seems to apply to a different
Windows version. I certainly doesn't match the features I
have. Tag: 2002 Spell Check broken? Tag: 104169
Can't open certain 2000 files in 2002
Certain files that were created in Publisher 2000 will not
open in 2002 (Office xp for small business). The files
that will not open contain inserted pictures and
graphics. Basic files open fine. The files are on a
network, but per previous posts, I copied them on the
local drive and they still did not open. I'm not sure
what the actual error is, it just wants to send an e-mail
to microsoft describing the problem. Any help would be
appreciated. I'm not too technical, so speak slowly. Tag: 2002 Spell Check broken? Tag: 104157
blue color not printing
i am printing a brochure using the scallop design.
some of the time the left side (blue color) prints, and
sometimes it does not. when it does not print, the blue
in other sections of the brochure still prints, so the
problem does not seem to be with the blue ink.

Locating fonts
I have created a flyer & have sent it to someone else
who's also got MSPub - but they're unable to pull up
certain fonts that I have used.
I am able to see the names of the fonts she has said she
does not have - yet I am unable to locate these in
my "Fonts" folder on my C:\ drive.
Where can I look for the fonts on my system that I see
listed in the MSPub program?

Having trouble with help in Publisher 2000
I've noticed within the last month that when I click on a
link within a help page, in Publisher 2000, that almost
invariably I get a scripting error message. For example:
Internet Explorer script error
Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%
20Office\Office\1033
\pub6.chm::/pub9html/pbmnuCONTNT3016.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
| Yes || No |
The only links that seem to work are in the introductory
help page, the first page to come up when I
select "Microsoft Publisher Help" from the Help menu.
All of the others that I've tried give me the kind of
error message I describe above.
Interestingly I don't have this problem in Word 2000. I
can't explain why.
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP 1. I'm very
diligent about applying the security updates for XP,
Publisher 2000, and Word 2000, and I am current with all
of them.
I don't remember having this problem with Publisher Help
when I first got it, or even when I first started running
it under XP.
In the course of applying security updates, I have gotten
some that update IE. I'm wondering whether those updates
ended up making the links in Publisher's help pages
invalid.
I can still kind of make my through, often by taking the
link text and putting into the search engine myself and
re-searching on it, but it doesn't always work, and isn't
very convenient.
Is there something I can do that will correct this?
Would reinstalling Publisher do it? Or, is there an
update I can get from the Office website that would fix
this?
As I don't frequent this group, if you could e-mail any
replies that would be very helpful.
Thanks,
---Mark

OnTarget Publisher resource site closing
The OnTarget Publisher resource site will close at the end of October.
Because of various commitments it has become increasingly difficult to keep
the Publisher site up to date. Rather than leave the site running with out-
of-date resources, I have decided to close it down and put the site space
to other use.
The main reason is the Godzone project -- creating Flight Simulator scenery
for New Zealand. In some ways this is a little ironic, as my interest in
the simulator came only after receiving it from Microsoft as one of the
many thank-you gifts over the years.
I have thought long and hard about this, but in the end the desire to
support the local flight sim people here in New Zealand won out over my
long-term commitment to Publisher users throughout the world. I also need
to give a little more time to my family.
There are a number of quality Publisher sites available on the Web, but the
best way to get help is still through this forum.
I wish to thank the visitors to my site who took the time to offer feedback
and support, and I certainly wish to thank Microsoft for their support
through the MVP programme. I have been given the opportunity to view
Microsoft in a way which many software users don't get to see -- the
personal commitment and dedication of a huge number of people who despite
the massive task they have undertaken work continually towards making our
computing tasks easier and more accessible.

Printing Greeting Cards
I know there has to be a way to do this, and I don't know what I'm doing
wrong.
I have half-fold greeting cards. I want to have a photo and text on the
front, text inside, and on the back a 'Photo by Carole' message. I have
a printer that does two sided printing. But no matter how I set this up,
I am getting either all the pages on one sheet of paper, or numerous
sheets of paper....what am I doing wrong?

Word/Publisher to print a booklet
Using MS Office XP SP-2, how can I do a mail-merge from an
Access query such that the results are printed as a
booklet? I would like two columns of addresses from the
mail-merge to be printed in landscape mode such that, when
folded into 8.5"x5.5" and stapled along the fold, the
result is a booklet that reads through the pages in
numerical order.
I think this implies two-sided printing with four
different pages on each sheet - page 1 and the last page
on one side and page 2 and the second-to-last page on the
other side.
I want to do this totally with Office tools and thus
combining Access, Word and Publisher is O.K. - if it works!
I have no problems with the mail-merge aspects, but have
been unable to get Word and/or Publisher to give me the
page ordering necessary for a booklet.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Can't set the page size as large as the printer will print!
Hi,
We use publisher 2002 at the office to make some large montages using our
HP750C. In other programs, we can set the page size to 34" by 60" and print
large displays, but in Publisher, if we set the page size to larger than the
"standard" large page size of 34 by 44, then it will make the display area
that big, but the white page underneath is still 34 by 44. Is there a size
limit to publisher? Or, do you think it something in the printer setup
under Publisher? We are stumped. We can print larger displays from Canvas
and a Oilfield Seismic mapping program, but not Publisher. Other than that,
we really like the program.
Thanks

Reducing Spam Associated with Posting to Newsgroups
Due to a recent increase in spam sent to posters in newsgroups, Microsoft advises that newsgroup participants should consider avoiding posting to newsgroups using their real email address. Microsoft is also committed to continuing to address the issue of spam from a technological perspective.
To help avoid receiving unwanted messages (spam) in your regular e-mail account, you may not want to include your regular e-mail address when you post a question or reply to a post in a discussion group. Instead you may want to do one of the following:
* Use a modified e-mail address: Use a different version of your e-mail address that others will understand, but that spam tools can't automatically pick up. For example, if your actual e-mail address is "emailname@account.com", consider using a modified e-mail address such as: "emailnameaccount.com.invalid", emailname@REMOVE_CAPS_AND_INVALIDaccount.com.invalid, or emailname@account.com.NO_SPAM. In this case, the spam tools will send mail to an invalid e-mail address, and others will know to exclude the "(removethis)" when they send you e-mail. When you post a question or reply to a discussion group, just enter your modified e-mail address in the appropriate box.
* Use a secondary e-mail account: Set up or use an e-mail account, such as a Hotmail account, that is separate from your primary account for posting to discussion groups. When you post a question or reply to a discussion group, use your Hotmail account as your e-mail address.
If you have feedback or questions about this, please post a reply in the newsgroup, or contact us at http://register.microsoft.com/contactus30/contactus.asp?domain=communities
Thanks!
