    - copying pages in publisher I am developing a brochure that will have many similar looking pages (image and text) and would like to copy entire pages in Publisher 2002, retaining all formatting and objects. I am trying to design several tombstones (generally 4x6 or 8x10 announcements that a company acted as advisor, Merger and Acquistion Specialist, etc. that appear in the Wall Street Journal or other business publications).     - Publisher Lock Ups Hi all, A customer of mine recently started having problems with Publisher 2002 (Oppice XP). If she opens an existing document, Publisher will lock up almost immediatley. I had her send me a document and if I open it using the same version of Publisher, the application freezes and a dialogue box pops up indicating that Publisher needs to re- start. If the customer creates a brand new document, Publisher will run OK for a little while, but generally it locks up in the same way within 30 minutes.     - Inserting PDFs Is there any way at all to insert a PDF file into a Publisher 2003 document (in Windows 98)??? The most intuitive way to me would be Insert, Picture and then choose your PDF file, but it always asks what kind of file I want to convert it FROM and pdf isn't an option. I found a MS webpage that lists all types of graphic files that Pub. can accept and PDF is not one of them. Why the heck not???? I do a newsletter for a club and the most common way that people want to send me ads is PDF files. I know someone who I think has an older Pub. version and she says PDFs insert no problem for her. The only way I've found is to open the PDF in Acrobat, and then 'save as' a different type of file. On a partly related note, has anyone tried to insert an EPS file and got nothing but a blank picture frame? Why is it that some EPSs give me no trouble and others do?     - ClipArt Hello all I have Publisher 2003, Windows XP (SP1) and Office 2000 running. In Publisher, I am having trouble with ClipArt. Sometimes it will let me insert it OK, but when I try to move or resize the clipart, Publisher (& my computer ) locks up completely. Ctl/Alt/Delete does not work, & I have to urn power off. This sometimes happens as soon as I insert the clipart, but mostly when I try to move or resize it. I have no problem with clipart in Word 2000. Any ideas??     - Lack of Integration in Office 2003 ? I want to give a calendar to users who only have access to Word & Excel. The format of that calendar should be somthing like the monthly view that you get with Outlook i.e a box for each day, so that entries can be made in the box. I cannot find anything in Word or Excel to do this job, but Publisher has some wonderful calendars exactly what I want. I selected the most basic calendar page and chose a full year hoping that I could then export it to Word. Ah, but here's the rub - you can't! Well, at least you can (using RTF or TXT) but it looks a mess. My temperature is a little high at the moment, so forgive me for blasting off.... but I need to get it out of my system..... Office 2003 is advertised as a set of integrated applications - don't make me laugh! It seems to me that if you produce a publication using Publisher, not only should you have the ability to print pages of paper for everyone, but you ought to be able to publish it in a form that can be used by Word (paperless office, and all that...)... Oh, yes I know it's OK in HTML, but very little of the world uses HTML and certainly not for simple tasks like a clerical person filling in a time-sheet or the like...... Arrgghh!!!! OK, I'm feeling a lot happier now that I've bleated on about that..... Just to create a bit of balance - I generally like the Office products (I was staggered many years ago when OLE came into being and you could have parts of a spreadsheet in a Word document) and I do find them useful tools, but some of what I think as being obvious, you generally find that you can't do easily. Final gripe - MS have never sourted out some of the basic problems that were there in Excel 4.0 and Word 6.0... but that's another story....... Thanks for listening!     - Pub 2000 Booklet Calendar I made pocket calendars using "bookfold" by stretching one month over 2 pages. Unlike a book with pages running left to right...the calendars go top to bottom with the pages flipping up. i.e. January plus two lines of days on the upper half (being page 2) and the rest of the days in the month on the lower half (being page 3). Since Pub only has bookfold with pages left to right, I have to use a "working" calendar, set up my page, add my information then connect everything on the page, rotate the whole page to run left-right, copy, open up the .pub setup as "bookfold" and paste it on to the two pages. Is there an easier way? These calendars are stacked, then stapled, so the printing is a different than just front and back.     - Font style keeps changing when clicking on the Copies per Sheet to In MS Publisher 2003 my font/color style keeps changing on my business card layout when I change the option: "Copies per Sheet" tool from "One" to "Multiple". I also lose the font/color style when I open the business card file from "My Recent Documents" from the Start Menu in XP Home. Here I have attached two screenshot pictures that illustrate my problem. The picture named "Good" indicates that it is in "Multiple: mode and my colors and font style are perfect. And the picture named "Bad" indicates that as soon as I change it to "One" mode, it changes my font/color style. And when I click back to "Multiple" it still remains the same way as the "Bad" picture.     - Publisher newsletter production problems We use Publisher 2000 at my work to produce a community newspaper of about 12 A4 pages (3 x A3 printed double side). We have had a lot of trouble working with Project, taking very long time to produce each document. The documents have a number of digital photos embedded. Problems include taking up to 50 minutes to save a document (document size is ranging from 200 to over 500 mb), during which time you obviously can't work on it, text formatting changing when manipulating photos, difficulty in working with text boxes. The staff using the program claim that Publisher is not up to the task of producing a newsletter of the type described and are pushing for us to spend a lot of money on Adobe Creative Suite, for the programs InDesign CS and Photoshop CS. One of the main claimed shortcomings of Publisher is that it embeds images in the document, rather than linking to them as Adobe apparently does, and that this is why the documents are so large and thus so clumsy to manage. I am happy to spend the money on the Adobe product if it is needed, but first I would like comment from Publsiher users on the problems we are encountering. Tag: Lan Settings Tag: 121800

    - Object Toolbar has disappeared... Hello Everyone, I am running into a bit of a problem. The Object Toolbar that is usually on the left hand side of my screen has disappeared. I am not aware of doing anything with it, but I cannot find it anywhere. It is not one of the toolbars that you can just open and close, so I don't even know where to find it. It doesn't show up when I open other Publisher files, so obviously it is something that has changed in Publisher. Any tips you guys can give me to find it again would be appreciated.     - Opening files For the past two months I have run across an issue that I can't seem to find a solution. When I open Publisher files (not all but some; especially when opening a file from Publisher when it's up and running, though that's not the only time) I get an error report that certain fonts that are embedded in the file are not found. The fonts are almost always were not used in the program and they ARE in my ...windows/fonts/ folder. When I click OK, it tells me an error has occured and Publisher will need to be shut down. I think you are in the wrong newsgroup. This one has to do with the program
Microsoft Publisher, for desk-top publishing. You want a forum that deals with
Internet Explorer.

For the LAN settings...
go to...Control Panel / Internet Options /
