Newbie here. I am trying "change to a different (Excel 2000) database in an
existing (Publisher 2000) document (mailing label)". I easily locate the new
database file, click "Yes" to use the entries in the first row as field
names. Then, I get into trouble.

1. The pop-up window instructs me to enter the name of the worksheet or
table that contains the info that I want to merge. I had been typing
"Sheet1" but the next pop-up window scolds me with "The name you have chosen
for this field, table or worksheet is invalid. Please rename it and try
again."

2. So, I tried renaming my Sheet1 to "Address List". I repeat the exercise
in Step 1, but I keep getting the same scolding pop-up window without any
results.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I've tried repairing Office and
Publisher 2000. I've exhausted my resources.

Please advise. Thank you.

This article isn't exactly what you are experiencing, however there is a
workaround that may benefit you.
