I have a problem when I want to save a document to my desktop in
Publisher. I go to file and click save as and when I either use the up
one level feature or I browse to the desktop not only does the save
function go to not repsonding but also the entire program. It does not
happen when I save to my documents or anywhere else I browse to. I was
wondering if anyone else has the same problem, and if they would know
how to solve it.

Thanks,

Brett Peppler

Did this problem just start?

Can you save it to the desktop through
C:\Documents and Settings\your name\desktop?

How about opening my computer, file, new folder, name it Publisher, right-click,
send the folder to the desktop. (Shortcut)

Yes it just started to happen. And some people have been telling me
about a HP update that makes this happen. Would anyone here have any
idea what that is all about? When I say HP I mean scanners and what
not, because I do have a HP scanner/printer connected to my computer.

It sounds like you are sharing the same problem as A LOT of other computer
users. Microsoft is going to release a fix for the fix but until them:

You may experience problems in Windows Explorer or in the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165

Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down to #383.
Download the "Share-to-Web Software Fix". I've been reading some positive
things about this. I've been fortunate in that I don't have that problem.
Neither my scanner nor my camera are HP and my printer doesn't have a
built-in card reader. And am I grateful!
