    - disengage mail merge Since the completed merge is too large to email, I have mail merge documents emailed to me along with the data sources in excel. These spreadsheets are being kept in xls form and used throughout the organization for consistancy so I'd prefer not to change applications. Since I am changing the source of the data ( from their computer to mine) I have to re-designate that source in the mail merge. My problem is that those choices are grayed out to me. My only options are Create or Edit Address List and these do not allow choices of xls files. I cannot find any place to disengage the mail merge once it is initiated. "cancel" is grayed out.     - Can't open older pub files in pub2003 Am running Publisher 2003 on Windows 2000 machine. Just recently, I lost the ability to open older publisher files (mostly from Pub98). I am not running Norton anything but have been using TrendMicro for anti-virus. Tried turning it off and tried turning off the script virus protection to no avail on either count.     - page numbers I am writing a series of booklets for use in eastern Europe. I am in the process of setting up a template but running into some complications (first time I have used any version of Publisher; version 2007 is version I'm using). It is in metric (105 x 148.5cm), consists of 32 pages and after the first page, facing pages (last page is also single to keep publication with 4 page set up). I want the first and last pages of the template to be blank; the second and third pages in the template just to contain at bottom "TEI Â© 2008" but starting at page 4 (with facing page 5) and from then on, to contain "TEI Â© 2008" but also page numbers. I do not mind whether they are at the top or bottom of the page (but advice welcome on this) but on even pages (starting page 4), page numbers would need to be on left; and on odd pages, starting facing page 5,page numbers would need to be on right. Developments so far - I have first and last pages blank and pages 2 & 3 with just "TEI Â© 2008". I also have "TEI Â© 2008" on all the other pages (4 to 32) but for whatever reasons I cannot insert page numbers on left starting page 4 (which would be page 1) and on right, starting page 5 (which would be page 2); when I insert page numbers, page 4 is numbered page 4 when it needs to be numbered page 1 and so on.     - Publisher Clip Art For some reason, when I save my bulletin with clip art and come back to work on it, all the clip art is gone. I re-insert it save it, close it, it vanishes upon reopening. I know that you can copy and paste and that should work fine, but when I paste it into the word document, everything is in the wrong place and part of it is gone because it prints at the right side of the page and you can't get to it.     - newsletter mail merge I need to produce 1600 newsletters on a konica biz hub using publisher 2007 running windows XP pro. I am using pitney bowes smart mailer for my mail merge. this results in 1,600 individual jobs and the color newletter is quite large so it takes about 5 minutes per newsletter to send it to the printer. I would like to sent the newsletter once and have the Konica insert the mail merge into each newletter page needing the address information.     - Printing too high I have Publisher 2003 and have just producaed a 2-page document. Every time I print it, the pinting goes to the very top of both pages, leaving a large area of white at the bottom instead of being centered. I have checked out the printer, and it is OK. A local business using Publisher 2000 has created a number of templates (most of the content is images) They have now upgraded to Publisher 2002. The basic pictures are all 529 x 358 pixels. (an aspect ratio of 1.477 : 1 ) The placeholders are at varying aspect ratios ranging from 1.33:1 through to 1.47:1 but it appears that the pictures all autoresize ( and distort to a varying degree as a result) to fit the placeholders in full ( the placeholders all have a border so this is plainly visible) However this does not happen in 2002 or 2003. In these programs the images fill the frame in one dimension only leaving white in the other dimension. I know this is the way things shold be to avoid picture distortion but the client cannot understand this and wants to retain the old behaviour despite the ditortion caused. Anyone got any observations please. It appears to me that 2000 was buggy in this respect can anyone concur please or am I missing something here.     - using Mail Merge with 4-up postcards I just tried to use mail merge with postcards I created in Publisher that are 4-up on a page. The date file is a simple address file in Excel. When I completed the merge, each sheet of 4 postcards has the same address on it - instead of 4 different addresses on each sheet. What did I do wrong? Can this be corrected?     - Two sided booklet with rotated text I'm using Publisher 2007 and I'm trying to print a two sided booklet in both English and Spanish. I want english on the front and flip the booklet over and have spanish on the back. It's a 24 page document and I'm a hard time figuring out how to get the pages to print on the correct page and side. I don't have a printer that can support two sided printing.     - Background Sound will not play when previewed in Publisher 2007 I am currently evaluating Publisher 2007 via the trial version. I have created a webpage. The problem is this, I have added background sounds to all my pages, however, when I preview the site on Internet Explorer 7, it will not play.     - Background objects printing in front of foreground objects Hi there, I have a strange problem that I can't seem to fix. I have been given a publication to print that has page numbers inserted in the background. I wanted to remove the numbers for the cover and inside cover and so tried to place a text box with a fill over the top of it as suggested in the help. For some reason, the background page number is printing in front of the foreground text box with fill, even though on screen you can't see the background page number. I've tried doing this in a new publication and it works as expected, so is there a setting somewhere that is doing this, or has the file become corrupted in some way?     - Change font throughout a publication Hi there, I am trying to change the font scheme throughout a publication (multiple pages, text boxes, tables etc!), so I am guessing that I want to create a font scheme to do this easily. I am using Publisher 2003. I don't want to change my default normal font (when I searched how to change fonts this was a suggestion), as I actually need to change the publication into five different fonts (i.e. save as five different versions, each in a different font).     - Linked header and footer file/image Hi, I am trying to find a way to link all of our publisher documents to stored header & footer images or files. I surpose this is a dynamic document. e.g. If I want to change a telephone number on the footer, I would edit one file, and this would replicate across all documents (much the same way a website is designed). We have recently changed the footer on our documents, saved and printed to .pdf. Then I have had to make a small change to the footer, which is very time consuming to go through the many files we have. I would like to implement dynamic documents so our header/footer images are consistent and easy to update. I would only need to print all documents to .pdf if a change was in the future.     - Blue and red lines in layout guides I know this must be a fairly fundamental question - but I have alwayss wondered the significance of the red and blue lines in layout guides. I know HOW to use layout guides and alter them. I also understand RULER guides. What I don't know is WHY we are provided with both red and blue lines in layouts - I know I can alter the position of margins but this moves both red and blue lines. I have savied postcards I use everymoth to print and mail. I just recently
upgrated to publisher 2007 and when I open the postcards they open as a
folded card. Is there anyway to print 4 post cards front and back like the
old program??

Are you planning to mail merge? If you are, I'd advise two publications, one for
the front and one for the back.

Either way use one of the Avery US Letter postcard templates. If you aren't mail
merging, simply add a page.
